Thank you for the 'bold claims/ no back up' point. As a trained historian myself I am wired to look for sources and I often find myself frustrated with many magic/witchcraft books for this reason! Perhaps I'm being overly cynical but the dedication ritual also sounds to me like a fool proof way of making sure people can't return or exchange the book on Amazon/ via booksellers hence her royalties will not be affected. Also as a folk magician horrified by the 'personal concern' tie lying about.

I really didn’t like the idea of putting DNA in a book & leaving it lying around the house. That’s stupid & really dangerous if you know anything about witchcraft at all. It’s just a magical attack waiting to happen & your making it easy for people.

Thank you so much for your honest and thorough review! I was very torn about this book because so many people were raving about how gorgeous it was but my gut was telling me that it might be more aesthetic than informative.

It was a shame really coz the subject would have been a great read, however it just failed to deliver & wasn’t at all as expected!

I am from Czech Republic (so Bohemian) and I did find her a little ... Presumptuous. Like you may feel special in America (I believe she is American) but actually a lot of even non-magic practicing Czech families have so much magical bits and pieces intertwined in their normal culture. My grandmother has so many herbal remedies you could basically call her a green/kitchen witch even though she doesn't see herself that way. There are so many elderly who I know in Czech who are like that just not on the internet claiming to be a witch. I find it very difficult to believe that there is this massive scarcity.
The other thing I found a bit odd about this book from my perspective is that there was so little folklore that I recognised included. Now obviously that could be just me, but I would have expected a bit more overlap.
I dunno, I feel like u hit the nail on the head. The book seems more like a desperate attempt to salvage a collection of memories from a lot of lost knowledge and not necessarily that informative.
It's a shame really. I looked forward to learning more about the magic specific to my own heritage but I didn't really feel like this was worthwhile 😔

Yes that’s certainly the way it felt to me. I really wanted to love this book & I was looking forward to reading all about bohemian magick but this book was disappointing. Do you have any recommendations that you feel are worth a read?
And thank you for your feed back. Blessings

      @@TheCityWitchUK sadly I haven't :(
I am sort of trying to rediscover it for myself as an extension of my own magical practice. When I started learning, I suddenly realised how so many folklore and natural remedies that I grew up with are very closely overlapped with the symbolism or use in magic. That's actually why I brought this book, because I wanted to find out more than just the remnants in my own family who like I said don't practice it in that kind of frame of mind.
Sadly I suspect that this is not yet consolidated in a book. I haven't found one yet anyway. 😅

Am sure there is a book out there that will be what you are looking for one day. The book is ether written or about to be written. 🙂
