The early 2000s were at his weakest. Agreed, in 2017 he sounds killer
Justice Era was the best voice of his in my opinion but until now his voice is still perfect

But their prime imo never burned out even when Load and ReLoad era came in
The main reason this is my favourite Metallica song is because all the riffs are brutal, the start of the song is different to others and the lyrics are on point

notice how even though the bass is very loud, it's not overpowering the other instruments, piss poor excuse to keep the bass quiet in my opinion

I really love their 99 live performances...
whoever did the sound on Jasons deserves a medal and a beating at the same time because the volume of the bass is great but it sounds as if they attached a mic right at the strings with all that steing hitting and fret buzzing. Also Jasons incredible hard playing probably didnt help much but his style of playing was phenomenal

Don’t get me wrong, I love Trujillo, but man Jason always brought it when they did live shows. He played the shit outta that bass & brought some attitude on stage (in a good way) & in most songs when they needed him to do the scream parts, he screamed liked a champ, sometimes Trujillo isn’t the best at that.

The one thing I hate from all their 1999 performances is how in a lot of them people throw shit at them. Kirk in particular seems to have been a bottle magnet.

At Woodstock 1999 someone died from getting trampled in their most pit. During Limp Bizkit's the stage broke, fires during Red Hot Chili Peppers'. It was terrible.

@@julianamartins2085Hetfield has battled addiction problems SEVERAL TIMES! Newsted wanted to branch out and have creative freedom, Metallica wasn't giving him any of that. They wouldn't let him play with another band as well as Met, so he left.
@@JudasSlays2426 actually Kirk, Lars and Mets management were really excited about Echobrain and backed Jason in his endeavour with them, but then James heard about it and wanted to protect Metallica and squeezed what he loved too tight in Jason's words. And that was a big part of why Jace left, but they've since patched things up and things are fine between Met and Newsted
