I'm confused as to why the aim point for the M8 rockets is higher than the HVAR, despite the HVAR having a flatter trajectory? Are the M8 tubes angled slightly upwards or something?
I had the same comment. If both missile types are mounted at the same angle and the HVAR has a flatter trajectory you would not use use the sight reticle with the greater (lower) depression, it would be the opposite. Either the HVAR trajectory has more drop, or the M8 tubes are angled up.
Since the M8 is slower, you have to aim higher to "lob" the rocket into the target. The HVAR are faster and have a flatter trajectory, so you don't have to angle up as much. Same as a rifle; a slower bullet, you have to aim higher.
@@PappyGunn Still pretty confusing, using the lower aim point would put the nose higher in the air. The M8 rockets are getting more loft, but that's because of how the tubes are installed.

I'd really like to do one but I don't have an axis amongst my controls to use for the range. Without using an axis to adjust the range having the gyro isn't that useful in my opinion.

The M8 rockets are angled upward compared to aircraft fuselage while the HVAR rockets are level with it

IIRC reading the manual for the P47 they say not to roll it onto the tgt but rather just dip your nose onto the tgt.
