Easily the best and most informative/influential review of this Epiphone I’ve seen. I am contemplating this one pretty heavily to solve a craving for a Custom. You addressed my major issues which was the lack of better pups and neck profile. It seems that w/a few upgrades, this could be a solid go-to guitar especially if you’re like me and already own a Gibson LP and are just looking to add an interesting and fun option to the collection. Great job here
Enjoyed your video! looking forward to your upgrade video! I really enjoy my Epiphone jerry cantrell also. First none gibson les paul i have bought in awhile, Very happy with it
Love the color. Prices of the original and other ‘collectibles’ are mad. People hope future generations will be crazy enough to spend even more. Bubble will burst one day.
Really keen to see the upgrades on this one. Just got myself a wino on backorder. I might wait to see what your new pickups sound like before I start spending money. Subbed.
New pickups are being installed as we speak! The rest of the upgrades should follow quickly. Hopefully we’ll have that video ready in the next week or so?
This has pretty much sold me on the wino! I love the review. Also good to know the Heafy and Bjorn are solid too because they were in the running along with the wino.
Great video! I'm thinking about getting one of these after selling my actual Gibson Customs last year, they were just too expensive for what they were, but I think I could get behind what one of these goes for without losing much sleep.
Go for it! And if you mod the guitars (like we do in part 2 of this video, out today) it's very comparable. Actually, one of us does have a Gibson Les Paul custom....future video idea - compare the Gibson's we own to the Epiphones?
It’s funny, I never considered myself an AIC fan, even though I’ve seen them twice, and know their music. This review is top notch and making me want one of these. It’s also the most thorough review out there of these, and as great as Gibson’s are, the Epiphone is just beautiful.
Would love to see a comparison between everything in the epiphone custom line. Traditional white or ebony vs. Koa vs. Wino possibly the matt heafy. Maybe even throw in a modern or standard to compare.
Definitely some Heafy in the future between the two original releases. Unfortunately, we modded them already with the Fishman fluences so it won't be as comparative.
Hey guys, I recently purchased a cantrell wino. Absolutely live it, Has quickly became my favourite guitar of my collection. My guitar collection is by no means as impressive as you guys. Just discovered your Chanel I'll look out for review on the white one from the inflames guitarist. Apologies his name escaped me.
damn you guys are good. Right now I'm torn between this jc wino, and the epi LP Custom Koa. I think the koa has the better pickups, the Probuckers......both look awesome; the wino is $100 bucks more, but comes with a hard shell case, which usually goes for around 150......so if you do the math, the wino comes in at $700 for guitar compared to the Koa at $749.....what do you think?
That’s a tough question! Ian had his eye on the the custom Koa until the wino came along!! I love the wino, but I’m sure the Koa would be awesome with some pickup switches as well.
@@seanbassett4817 if I bought the wino, I'd probably switch out the neck pickup for a Seymore Duncan 59; if I bought the Koa id probably leave the Probuckers as I heard they are pretty decent. ps......theres 2 of you, so you guys should get the Koa also :)
@@TheBassettBros yeah, I'm really thinking I'm gonna end up with both eventually lol.....the wino I plan on getting Seymour 59 neck in zebra, and grover locking tuners.....Koa, just the locking tuners. That would be great to see you guys do a comparison of these two! Great work, guys!
Yes! We’ve got the original black 7 string (with modifications as you can see on the wall) and the 7 string Snøwfall. We’ll definitely review these guitars. Stay tuned!
I seriously wanted the gibson wino... until I saw the price and realized that they made it for rich people. The epi is a gorgeous color. I've wanted one for awhile, and finally pulled the trigger... even though I've had too many issues with epiphones in the past. Bad wiring, bad switches (all new, right outa box). But for $850... I figured I'd chance it. All my guitars have dimarzio or Duncan pickups... so these may get changed.
In my opinion it works very well on classic blues. Like you said, you'll need to dial down the volume knob to get more of a thinner tone, but it sounds great.
The guitar sounds bad for the clear sound when you use both picups in the same time, it is a big dissapointment, I used a Marshall tube amplifier. So I have to change the humbuckers picups with Seymour Duncan or Di Marzio to have a very good clear sound, I am dissapointed about the clear sound of this guitar.

Great review! Very cool mixing in the original track and fading to the guitar tone to hear the comparison.
Glad you enjoyed it! Check out the second part we uploaded this week!

Great video guys! I own 2 slash epiphone's and they sound, play, and look amazing too. I may have to own this one now cuz of you!

Funny the big push for his guitar...but have only seen him with a G&L until he got a contract with Gibson.
It's a great looking guitar, I think that may have to do with it!
He was using a LP during the Degradation Trip era.
Great video!!! ;) Where is part 2?
Part 2 is out!
I have not heard a single bad review of this guitar.
I know I’m late to this video, but how was the instrument set up out of the box? Any action or neck relief issues?
Whatever happened to the upgrade video coming next???????????
What amp and settings were you guys using.
What model TONEPROS bridge and tailpiece did you install? LPM04? Just got one and thinking about modding it out similar to what you guys did
LPM02 Bridge and tailpiece set. That’s the metric one, it’ll fit Epiphone!

Where is part 2?
Apologies for the delay! We’ll get that video up in couple weeks. All the new parts have been installed!
It is finally here!
This guitar's been out of stock for ages at my local shop. Can't wait to try one out.

We are absolutely going to review both of our Heafy guitars!
Man U killed it on the them bones tone .. nice videos guys
Thanks! The guitar helped for sure, we also used a Neural DSP Quad Cortex. If you are interested, we could do a video on that as well!

I have a prophecy plus les paul with the 490 and 498t. I don't need the wino. It's basically similar to the gibson wino sound wise
It's soooooo good I bought one and I don't even play guitar.
How it goes in like classic blues stuff, bonamassa stuff. Too fat of a tone, or dialing down the volume i can get the classic les paul tone as well?
