Rocky Horror is actually really good, I kind of hate the Columbia performance. Brad is okay pretty standard I guess. Janet is way over done but it’s also okay I guess. Overall not terrible but not very good
For them to take inspiration from Cyndi Lauper circa 1983 for the 2016 film's depiction of Columbia was one of the production's few glimpses of absolute brilliance.
Original Frank: Corrupting others to be mindless slaves as they perform for him in his sick twisted show. This Frank: Proud mama watching her babies perform in a show they worked so hard on!
I'd say this version is more saphic, since Frank is a woman now. Sure, Brad and Rocky no longer get with a man, but Columbia and Janet get with a woman now.
If the 1975 doesn't exist then this is actually pretty good and the vocal here is really impressive. It just because comparing to the original, this is not campy enough, not sexual enough and not bold enough, they just played it too safe
@ngtone611 So basically, everything that actually mattered or was important is gone leave a sad pile of shit topped nothing? This is like watching some dig up your dead grandmother, put lipstick on her, and parade her around the room. This is a lifeless, heartless, soulless cash grab and it deserves to wither and die slowly in the cold dark cobwebbed recesses of our cultural memory.
Agree...They should all be in suspenders and Janet would be better cast as Columbia with the short eton bob. Brad needs his glasses too! Nice vocals, but lacking the camp sexual feeling.
I truly agree way to safe as a huge fan of the rocky horror you cant beat the original on stage or movie but the best thing about the stage show is the call outs by the audience asshole for Brad and slut for Janet plus we all get dressed as a character from rocky horror
Ryan McCartan looks like he's already done like 100 drag shows 😂 😂... He's at home with make up, wigs & dresses more than he's willing to admit to public 😂 😂
"Ryan McCarten looks like he's already done like 100 drag shows?" My God, did you nail that description FLAWLESSLY. I nearly spit out my coffee laughing.
The oddest part for me was Laverne Cox as Frank. Frank was always portrayed as a man’s man but wears women’s underwear. Idk, to me there is a difference between a transvestite and and transsexual. I like Laverne, but I also feel being on a Rocky horror cast has made me look at this version with a more critical eye.
@@tgiacin435 Yeah exactly! They originally wanted Adam Lambert to be Frank, but he said it would be "disrespectful to trans women" or something, he said it wouldn't be right for him as a Cis guy to dress as a woman
Christopher Thomas disregard the difference between the two, or that men were dressing as women for plays since Japanese kaubuki theater, and Shakespeare’s plays
Christopher Thomas honestly I see it as more disrespectful equating a transsexual to a transvestite since a transvestite doesn’t go through the procedures needed to transition to the opposite sex
People are congratulating the actor playing Brad...he has a great voice and is veryyy attractive...but the way he delivers the lines takes all the meaning away.
That's what I was thinking! I don't buy for a moment that boy isn't already fully sexually liberated, so it kinda quashes the moment. Original Brad kept fighting Rocky's puppeteering, because he still wasn't fully comfortable with himself as a sexual being. This Brad very briefly appears to be fighting Rocky's control then he just drops it and looks fully comfortable flaunting. The guy is hot, but it definitely takes away from the character. I haven't watched this full thing but all the more subtle characterizations seem like they've been scrubbed away. Frank is messy in the original and he looks messy; this Frank looks constantly polished and put together. This version kinda sucks the fun out by trying to make everything look pretty; the original is chaotic and that's what makes it fun.
Exactly. This number is supposed to show Brad struggling with the freedom offered by Frank vs the values he grew up with. While Janet has already fully given herself over to absolute pleasure, Brad's supposed to be still on the fence.
The desperation and fear, yet excitement is missing, which sucks, because holy hell his voice is amazing. I also think he could of pulled it off really well for that same feeling. "Help me" was fine, "mommy" is where the shift already happened too soon. The I'll be good, should be hesitant, like desperate, like "please make it stop, I'll be good if you make it stop." Then "What's this" confusion "I feel sexy" slowly transitioning to sultry from upset and baffled. Then "Here it comes again" basically like orgasming uncontrolled, powerful, surprising. The nuance would of been so damn good with his voice and appearance.
There are some movies you just can't really remake. This is one of them. It just doesn't work. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a film that deserves to stand on it's own. Even today with the new generation it is still winning new fans all over the world. 1975 Rocky Horror Picture is the real Picture Show. Accept no imitations.
For real, not to mention that in 1975 it was groundbreaking, but in 2016 it just lacked that punch that the 1975 version had and still has, Tim Curry's voice was like flowing, liquid gold, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick are unmatched as the straight lace couple they portrayed, this version just seems disingenuous and phoned in
I think the reason why there's so many criticisms about this version is that the film version was so sexual and confronted the audience a lot. It was bold. And was so many decades ago. So when I heard there was a TV special I was kinda scared cuz I knew the they wouldn't do it as much aggressive as they should. It's not bad, is just not what they fans are used to.
I think it's a bit, pardon the pun, rocky in some places. If you don't compare it to the original, and judge it as its own movie. It isn't bad. I actually think it's pretty good despite some weird choices it made
I saw the remake before i saw the original and even then i was like "my god this was terrible" and the worst thing was that because its a remake i thought that it was just like the original so it made REALLY bad impressions
I think the new one is too... clean? The original looked hecking dodgy, but it worked? Like, Frank wasn't MEANT to have a "de-medusa" for impromptu stage shows so the original just had this poorly written label, which made it feel like he was extra enough to invent it, name it, but not to give it proper signage? It just added SO much, but that's just my opinion!
I don't understand why the heels and corset where too sexual for Columbia and Rocky but it was ok for Janet and Brad. I really like their costumes, but why only them? Is not like their having too much issues to dress a guy in a corset and heels. But I really like the vocals from them and I like the choreo from Rocky, Brad and Janet. This version has some good things.
Wasn't the point of those that it was sort of an alien Uniform from the planet Transilvania? Thats why Riff Raff y Magenta are wearing stockings and gartherbelts too.
See for me Rocky's outfit was fine cause it just kinda went with a 'different kink' . He's still in something that shows skin and I don't know a person alive who has seen competative westling and not admited it can been seen as sexual. ANd the actor definately upped the sexy factor. That said there's no defending their choices for Colombia. I know they were going for a Cindy Lauper maybe groupie look but...she just looks like a Middle-Aged mom trying to recapture the old days. It just does not work.
This. All of them were dressed by Frank because his entire thing is to hyper sexualize EVERYONE. He'd want the theatrics of wearing what he usually wore, but then his version being special by being red because he's a diva.

-Ryan and Victoria as Brad and Janet
-Adam Lambert's Eddie
-Columbia
-Rocky
-Dammit Janet
-Sword of Damocles
-Hot patootie bless my soul
Me:Watches This A Second Time
My Stomach:Oh No Here It Comes Again
I'm sorry, but what is that outfit of Columbia? The others and the song and everything are great, but why is she wearing a T-shirt? This just doesn't make sense.
The actress was pregnant
Who ideal was to wear all this gold. Where is the black, the lace, the white foundation, thr lipstick.smh😂
Soooo PG , how is it possible 1975 was more daring than NOW! WE'RE ALL POSERS TODAY
Why are brad and Janet the only ones dressed appropriately in this song? And it felt like the Columbia actress and rocky actor were way too uncomfortable wearing lingerie and makeup and singing in it.
Thanks, I hate it.
This is like Rocky Horror if it was made by someone who had never seen a gay person up close before
what in the rocky horror glee show is this
Yas ryan!! Slayyyyyy
God Bless Laverne Cox & Tim Curry!
It's BEYOND ME HELP ME MOMMY!
GOD BLESS TIM CURRY AND LAVEEEEEERNE!
My my my, my my my my my, my my my my...
I'm a wild and untamed thing
I'm a bee with a deadly sting
You get a hit and your mind goes ping
Your heart will thump and your blood will sing
So let the party and the sounds rock on
We're gonna shake it til the life has gone
Rose tints my world keeps me safe from my trouble and pain!
Tim and Laverne, or Curry and Cox, fits better in the melody than “Tim Curry and Laverne”
This is like a victorious and Disney Channel crossover
can we get ryan as brad again when they do a valid rocky remake
Confused as to why frank is a woman
Costumes should be sexier or just like you know close to the original they shouldn’t have changed the choreography or the way they sing the lines I like Janet and brads actors but overall this could be so much better
The new rocky horror will never beat the old one,and I hate all the new songs
I hate this so much, they changed so much and it sucks.
It's downright wholesome.
I should not be this sexually attracted to Ryan in drag.....😭😭😭🤣
Rocky's vocals
Real fans disliked this.
OMG!!! This is amazing! So talented and great performance! :-)
Sebastiano Jopek watch the original film
Currently cherry picking this movie by only looking for Ryan McCartan anyone else
