The best commentary I've heard on A&M thus far
As an Aggie I agree, and can’t agree more… We got 5 stars for days but that means nothing when it comes to performing on the field in the SEC
@@masondyer5811 You don't know what you're talking about. I guess, then, that Saban and Smart are going to throw back all the 5-stars that litter their programs, given that too much talent is a detriment. What a load of horseshit.
@@jamesborski6860 correct you are. Saban, smart and Swinney should be having the same issues aTm are having… The difference between these programs is the head coach.
I miss Tim & Joe Dean Jr doing SEC basketball. What a great pair!!
Justin Jefferson was a 2-Star. Tyrann Matthieu was a 3-star. Brando couldn't be more right. Recruiting hype is way overrated.
No it's actually not. You're cherry picking examples, which there will always be those. If you wanna win it all, you better have some highly rated players. Data backs this up
yup
It's not overrated if they go to the right program. Jimbo and A&M ain't the right program.
It is a prerequisite for winning big, but not a guarantee
A&M has a couple deep threats but Max doesn’t have more than 3 seconds to get rid of the ball. The speed to separate is there. Brando isn’t wrong but we probably have the most freshmen in Div 1 starting which is a recipe for Ls in the SEC.
you misspelled half a second.
I don't understand this argument when we've had top 10 classes for 4 of the past 5 years... why aren't there seniors and juniors ready to go...
5th yr coach why young team?
Tim Brando is a pure genius.
Always good to hear to see and Tim Brando
Auburn boosters are still a punchline
Surprise, Surprise .. A & M is exactly what FSU was when he left Tallahassee.
Bingo!
Yes 👍
Dam Tim Bo Preach dawg Preach
A&M was too young in experience to be rated as high as they were. They have not come along as fast as they would have liked. Why they are hurtung is they don't have much from recruiting to show for 3-4 years ago on the field vTheir 2 loses were to teams with 4-5 and 6th year players and it showed.
Awesome segment. Go vols!
Tim can talk all you want we know four and five stars when championships and that's what Jimbo getting paid to do and he's failing at it Alabama win championships with four and five stars LSU win championships with four and five stars Georgia win championship for four and five stars Clemson win championships with four and five stars cut it out
I dont get to watch A&M play very often but when i do seems they dont seem to have that winning atitude they have tremendous talent but something is just missing in their performance. Might be helpful if JIMBO would hire a really great offensive coordinator and then get out of the way and let them run the offense. They have championship talent but its just not producing maybe its just youth and inexperience, If thats the case then it seems they are not being coached properly. The transfer portal and the NIL have changed thing s in college sports and not nescesarily for the better. How many players go to a program for the money and not for the loyalty to a program?
Tim Brando is absolutely right. A&M needs some Larry Kelms and Bucky Richardsons. I don't think Bucky was a 5-star recruit, but he had grit in buckets. Same with Dat Nyugen.
Since 1999 (23 years), Texas A&M has ONE (1) Double digit Win Season. ONE!!! ...They're BEYOND OVERRATED! 😂
Go look at your facts there are 2 but there are not many teams that can say they have 10 win seasons.
@@aggiefacts I can name several with multiple ones in the SEC alone. Most with National titles to go with them. Some with multiple titles. Bama, LSU, Flordia, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss. That's just the SEC. Nation wide they're are tons more. Ohio State, USC, Michigan, Clemson, Oregon, Washington, Penn Sate, Wisconsin, Oklahoma and many, many more. Hell Bama and LSU each have more national championships in the last 20 years than A&M does 10 win seasons.
Ok there are a top 25 rankings but you van only name the regular schools that's always talked about. Usc has done anything since 2006. If A&M was in the SEC east or any other conference we could have won by now. But we are in the west. Plus we haven't had a losing record since before 1999. We haven't fallen off like all of these others schools that pay for athletes. You can say they are overrated but they aren't your traditional power 5 like Oklahoma Texas, USC ALABAMA CLEMSON OHIO STATE ETC. WHO IS YOUR TEAM SONCE WE ARE TALKING
@@aggiefacts Your name does NOT check out. 2012 is the ONLY year since 1998 in which the Texas A&M football team won 10 or more games. What teams have more than one 10-win season since 1998 just in the SEC? Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas, LSU, Missouri, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and Kentucky. Vanderbilt is the ONLY team in the SEC that does not have more 10-win seasons than Texas A&M since 1998 (they have zero). Congratulations A&M? You beat out Vanderbilt! Man, how could anybody whose name is "Aggie Facts" be so WRONG! You are embarrassing.
@@aggiefacts Texas A&M was 4-8 in 2008. What do you mean they haven't had a losing season since before 1999. Seriously, you are a total joke. Aggie Facts is Aggie Lies or Aggie Delusional.
Actually NIL is part of the problem
Bingo. Simple solution, have NIL levels of capped money, each school has a tier 1 through 10 level, an amount that all power 5 schools can afford, the school selects who they want to offer their number 1 tier amount to, and so on. Each school has a capped amount, say 5 million, as long as they don’t go over that, they can offer more or less of their choice to recruits. This would eliminate these mega money schools from landing kids, that really don’t want to be there. This would level the playing field somewhat. Bama would still do it under the table as many top schools have been but it would at least settle down the NIL bullshit that is out of control.
It's called capitalism
You're absolutely correct. These recruits are getting guaranteed money with no incentives to get better. The portal class coming will be great
Cap how much money the Athletic Department can make selling officially licensed products.
@Parker Corley duh, no crap. Cap the school / businesses genius. The total amount of money from area businesses has a cap per school. The top 10 businesses gets the ads, separate the money per player, etc. not hard to figure out.
Overview
Saban: Jimbo bought players.
Jimbo: We didn't buy any players.
TAMU: Give us our money back.
Add - Saban: we’ve been buying players, and now you paid more than us and I’m pissed bc I’m not number one at something.
@@k.c.6846 All the schools buy players. Kiffin warned about this a year ago. NIL will eventually ruin college football. All the players will be playing for the name on the back of the jersey instead of the name on the front. Sad.
@@k.c.6846 What is Saban not #1 at or rather what aspect is Jimbo/A&M doing better? 1 recruiting cycle? Hows it working out for those higher paid players at A&M? How’s that working out for A&M? Might as well face the music… A&M spent insane money for a subpar college coach with an insane buyout and a single #1 recruiting class that’s gone nowhere.
NIL will work itself out bc kids are realizing they’re selling their potential NFL future and player development down the drain for peanuts compared to what they could make by going to a school with the best chance to succeed in the big show.
@@k.c.6846 you can buy all the players you want it doesn’t matter if you can’t Develop players which dumbo can’t
@@theclamhammer4447 recruiting rankings 2022. That’s what.
Brando hit the nail on the head....👍
A major problem with buying 5 star players like the aggies have is this. 5 star players get to choose where they want to play and most of them grow up with a favorite team. These 5 star players that the aggies bought would not have chosen to go to aggie land if they had not have been paid big bucks. They have zero allegiance in their heart or mind to the aggies.
Which creates another problem and that is you have players that have never played a down getting more money and attention than players that have been there.
Dude fuck off. Just because you don't understand why players want to come here doesn't mean there aren't lots of reasons to.
Sense you have proof of what you say why not turn it in to the NCAA. If yo accuse some one of some thing back it up.
@@jameslong4453 Don't now a damn thing about college football do you. With the new rules about paying college players there is nothing illegal about it to turn into the NCAA. Neither did i imply there was anything illegal about it did I. Since you must be an aggie fan, you obviously know that many 5 star players don't just suddenly decide to attend a school which has no history of being a NC contender. Did you miss the video (there is your proof) of the recruiter telling the players on the recruiting trip to aggie land about how much the boosters would be paying them to be an aggie or do you just pretend it didn't happen. Regardless, the aggies remain exactly what Paul Finbaum said about them when they joined the SEC, he said "they are irrelevant". The only thing aggies have to look forward to is that they will go 6-6 but still be ranked in the top 10 at the start of next year because of the SEC bias.
You are talking out of your ass!! You are simply regurgitating what has been said on the internet by some idiot fan at OU!!
Every single top program has bought their players, to act as if ONLY A&M is buying their players is flat out ignorant!!
Another thing A&M has been recruiting lights out since Jimbo got to A&M so it’s not THAT big of a stretch!
The problem with NIL is that you are rewarding high school players something they haven’t earned or really proven that they are worth “x” amount of money!
You take the motivation away!!
But if you think Alabama, Georgia doesn’t pay for their players you are naive!! 🤦🏻♂️
"The Texas A&M System shall take all necessary steps to ensure that its employees and students are committed to the tenets of human respect and decency. To make a positive impact, we will make a unified commitment to translate our ideals into action for sustainable and proactive change. Equally as important, The Texas A&M System shall remain committed to providing an inclusive environment where all its members can thrive safely."
Lest we forget.....Anybody here seen the lyrics to Texas A&M's team stadium entrance song? Perhaps accepting/condoning racial slurs and profanity is part of being more inclusive and sensitive, respectful and decent? Should we not strive to be part of the answer and not the problem? Developing leaders and all that...at a state supported institution no less.. We chose...poorly. It's an easy fix.
I just looked up the lyrics to all the aggies songs, not sure what you’re talking about. Maybe cite specific examples for us rubes who don’t read between lines
@@aaronjusa9134 Thank you for asking Aaron: The UA-cam profanity algorithm will not permit the posting of the lyrics. Many websites such as TexAgs and 247 also will not permit the posting of the lyrics. Sadly, even discussion of the song is taboo. Trust me. Why would that be?
The song "Power" (@Texas A&M Univ.) is played as the football team entrance piece just prior to kick-off for the AGGIES at Kyle Field. Some are claiming.."yeah, it's racially slurred and profane, but we don't sing the lyrics"- "It's just an instrumental". Others, "We play the clean version it's just a brief hype piece". If not for those horrendous lyrics, this song never would have existed. "You can't even hear the racially slurred and profane lyrics.." Should A&M align itself with an artist/song that so freely promotes the use of racial slurs and profanity? It's saddening and confusing the lengths of rationalization some people will take to try and justify the existence of something that reflects so poorly on TX A&M. Heck, us as a civilized society.. What hinders us from taking the logical course of action? One of the chief obstacles to progressive change here is the fact that so few Aggies are even aware of the lyrics. That will change.
But, what if the song contained lyrics promoting cop killing? Or encouraged the resumption of slavery? Or the abuse of children? Or disparaging remarks/slurs directed towards the LGBT community? Would an "instrumental version" remain acceptable and appropriate knowing full well what those lyrics are? Are there any lines that can't be crossed today? Based on the former OU coach who recently resigned and the backlash created by the spectator at a BYU volleyball game, the data suggests there are. Musician Morgan Wallen was barred from the ACM award function just last year for using a racial slur. Recognize, trust and believe the data. Some things are just not acceptable. Others have suggested it's OK for a person of color to use these shameful and hurtful slurs and others can't...some might argue this is racist. We should think long and hard about that one. Does it really benefit anybody? That's a confusing and dangerous road to take. It's not OK. Learning to respect yourself might make respecting others an easier choice. Perhaps not? Regardless, the extreme profanity with MF-bombs, references to sexual acts and even sexual organs in the song's lyrics should make the decision an easy one. Yeah, it's chocked full of beneficial goodness. The selection of such a crude song is very perplexing. At best. It's tradition now, but does that make it any less toxic and inappropriate? Google the lyrics...you'll be shocked. A state supported institution no less...tax supported. One that prides itself on producing leaders.. What is the priority here? The end-game? Perhaps there wasn't an over-riding scheme/intent behind the decision maker's selection. If there was, the selection of this song in particular is somewhat distressing. Regardless of its popularity. We ought to be better than this. Our core values.....are some departments exempt perhaps? The AGGIE CODE of HONOR: "Is an effort to unify the aims of all Texas A&M men and women toward a high code of ethics and personal dignity ". Do we have a somewhat disturbing disconnect here? A classic case of lack of institutional control perhaps? We should be setting the standard, not burying our heads in the sand and looking the other way. Need to walk the talk IMO.
A&M has a golden opportunity here at becoming part of the answer, not the problem.
@@aaronjusa9134 he's a bot that just bitches about "Power" by Kanye West being the song we play while players take the field.
@@aaronjusa9134 you are replying to some sort of bot or crazy person. They go around and comment the same thing on a lot of Aggie videos. I would suggest not engaging anymore. It’ll just become a loop of going back and fourth.
@@Dodgevair So you're essentially saying it's so bad that hardly anyone knows about it and you can't even say it? Just some vague non specific comments on it? We're just supposed to "take your word" for it? Before you tell me to go "research" it, you brought up the argument and called it the truth. The responsibility to prove your point is on you, not everyone else.
Jumbo destroyed Fla at football before he left. He’s really not that good as a head football coach.
Preciesely. He is Mack Brown No.2
The grunts they DO have are watching freshmen who have never done anything wave hundreds in their face... how could that locker room possibly not be toxic?
Tim nailed it.
"There's a first time for everything, Tim."
Brando is spot on!
I've been a fan of Brando's work for years, but this take is national media-level clueless concerning the problems with the A&M football program right now.
He starts out by trying to claim that the "money people" at A&M, folks Brando wouldn't know if they broke into his house, are the problem with the program. Oh, you mean the same people who've paid for the best facilities in college football and who wrote a blank check for a national-championship HC and staff? Right. Paying to hire a national-champion coach was the problem. What an asinine assertion. I guess Alabama was dumb for throwing money at Saban fresh off his meltdown in Miami 15 years ago.
Then he asserts without any evidence that A&M's boosters are somehow akin to the boosters at Auburn. When have A&M's boosters ever had a Tuberville situation? Never. When have they ever tried to meddle with Jimbo's program. Never. And that's why Brando is so vague in his assertions, because he's working off of nothing. Fisher has total control of this program, to the point that he's almost beyond pressure from outside, unfortunately.
Brando then goes on to claim that A&M has "too many 5-stars," that we need more dawgs and fewer cats, or some such other garbage. What? When has Saban ever suffered for a glut of 5-star players? Or Meyer? Or Smart? Or Dabo? Having too much talent on a football team has _never_ been and will never be a problem for A&M or any other program. He may as well claim that the drinks are too cold in the Bright or the cushions are too soft on the locker-room seats.
The real problem in College Station isn't too much talent or "grit" or boosters or any of the other ghosts Brando is conjuring in this take. The problem is poor coaching. Look at the clown show of an offense we're running out there every week. They've been struggling to move the ball for years now, and everyone's been begging Jimbo to change his scheme or hire an OC to run the offense. Look at the ridiculous schemes Durkin is running on defense. He's got us in 3-man front all game long when D-line is the strength of the team. Teams have gashed that front all year, but has Durkin made any changes? Hell no. He won't change, just as Jimbo won't change his offense to accommodate a new QB. Poor coaching is the problem, not too much money or any of that other crap Brando talks about here.
It's been a lot of years since Brando covered football in this part of the world, which is made pretty obvious in his inane take here. The only thing A&M boosters are guilty of is handing the keys to a national-champion coach who'd been more successful in his career than anyone not named "Saban" or "Meyer." After that, whatever happens--or doesn't happen--falls squarely on the shoulders of Coach Fisher and the rest of his coaching staff.
So they have continued to have bad coaching, especially since they joined the SEC? All that money and can't find a winning Coach? LSU won a NC with ED Ogeron. A$M has other problems.
The “Best “ on College Football
Players can peak in high school now.
We have players that want to be aggies. We have lower rated players that we develop, and they become leaders. We don't have huge numbers of them right now. Leon O Neal Jr., Michael Clemons, Ainias Smith, Caleb Chapman, Seth Small, Bryce Foster, Tyreek Chappell, and several more. The issue is a lot of those guys graduated, went pro, or transfered for a fresh start. We've got a lot more guys we have taken a chance on and they just haven't seen the field. Idk if Jimbos staff is squandering these more developmental players or what, but we have guys that fir the mold of program anchors. Just lacking in numbers this year. I do wish we got back to our roots more, and pulled in more guys that get overlooked, and less of these flashy attention seeking players.
I could listen to you guys and Brando talk ball all day Flaming dragon was pretty quiet though what's up with that
This team might not be winning but he's holding a 90 million dollar lottery ticket
Solid break down on A&M and Tim was right.
He was was also completely way off on Houston!
Great insight
Miss Tim Brando was excellent
Dear Tim, Max Johnson was not good enough nor going to be good enough at LSU. Why would we expect a different result at aTm? He has looked very similar and pedestrian as aTm’s QB. Would not have mattered had he started the season!
He's still better than King so while he might not be a generational QB he might have avoided the catastrophe against App St. He also threw 26 TD against 6 picks last year at LSU on a team with a terrible O line, lame duck coach and not enough players to fill the scholarship limit. King is a turnover machine. 4 picks and a couple of fumbles in 3 games. Johnson first two games? No picks and just as many TD's.
LOL on Bielema...UTSA flew up to the "Big Ten" stadium last year in Illinois and literally ran the ball down their throat...217 rushing yards, 6.1 yards per play...they never knew what hit 'em!
That was a really good UTSA team. Highly underrated
The carnage that will occur with elite kids chasing cash and not development and instead of being coached properly and going 1st round in the draft they now go 6th round and some never drafted. Wasted talent
You still need talent, the blue chip ratio is a thing for a reason, you don't win titles w.o 5 stars, you need other things, of course, but recruiting is more than half the battle
Right about one team only 5 games into a season and wrong about other teams, but let's only talk about the teams "I'm right about".
yeah, especially since so many people thought the same thing. Jimbo is a fraud and I'm glad to see he's exposing himself.
