      The Rio fuel economy can get a little bit more better by putting the car in manual mode and upshift to the highest ratio so the RPM will drop down to 2k when driving via Plaines of the Midwest.

    I got this car a while ago, and as far as the sound system goes, I do think it's great - for the driver. I've sat passenger and have heard from others in my passenger seat that the music is quiet while being on the upper limit of what I would accept for volume. Do love the car, think it's great, and can't wait to get out and put more miles on it.

    I had a 2018 Kia Rio LX hatchback (the first year of the current generation) and really liked that car, but it was mated to a 6 speed automatic. I was getting about 38-41 MPG on the highway. I swapped it out over a year ago for a 2018 Corolla iM hatchback, thinking I needed the extra cargo space, but I ended up never needing the extra carrying space and it is not exactly the most fuel efficient vehicle (only 24-26 in the city, 33-34 on the highway). Since gas prices have spiked significantly over the past year, I'm dumping it in a few days for a 2022 Kia Rio LX sedan with the IVT (CVT). Seeing what the driver of this video got, what other commentators are saying...coupled with my own experiences with the IVT in the Kia Forte where I was getting about 44-45 MPG on the highway during a 300+ mile rental, I'm excited for the gas savings. I drive about 3,000-3,500 miles a month and should be able to save a lot at the pump with gas hovering around $4.35 in my area for regular (suburban Los Angeles).

    Great video! Although I do want to comment on pumping gas using a 3 click method. Folks!! Don’t ever do this!! Gas enters the car via the fuel filler neck (the tube that connects the gas tank to the hole you stuck the gas nozzle into) and then encounters a canister containing small charcoal pellets. These filter the gas. If gas flows through this too quickly, or if you continue to feed gas into the car after the first click, the charcoal pellets will exit the canister and start collecting in the fuel filler neck. After repeated episodes you may end up with a clogged fuel filler neck and find that you CANNOT fill up your tank! Trust me, it totally sucks when this happens. Best habit to stick to is to put the gas nozzle into the car, set it too the slowest fill speed, after the first click take it out: you’re done! No “topping off” or trying to round it up to the next dollar. Don’t want the hassle of getting loose change back? Suck it up, buttercup. You’ll be better off in the long run

    Yeah, last 136 miles I averaged about 50 mpg. If you drive 55 mph for long distances with few stops, 50+ mpg is easy. It's doable on flat road going 70, but dips under with a bit of wind. 35-45 mpg is more realistic with frequent stops, less in stop and go traffic.

Kia group do not oficially inform the fuel consumption so your video helped me a lot. Just one question: What´s the ammount of ethanol do you have in your gasoline ? Here we have 27.5% of ethanol mixing to the gasoline, we call "etholine". Perhaps the consumption here will be poor since the gasoline is very different. Thank you !

    • @DailyMotor
      @DailyMotor  2 роки тому +3

      First step would be not spending money on premium fuel. You will not make up the money in savings with this car. Other than that, that seems pretty good for mixed driving. Make sure your tires are properly inflated.

      @@DailyMotor Thanks for the suggestion about ⛽

    • @KF1
      @KF1 2 роки тому +1

      @@timdenny1991 just a note about premium fuel. It will keep an engine cleaner because they add detergents that are good for the valves etc, and there's often significantly less ethanol in premium grade. It will also contain stabilizers for longer shelf life.
      Biggest factor for most is the octane. Octane prevents ignition, specifically pre-ignition, which only matters in cases of high compression ratios, which the Rio does not have.
      If you got a sport bike, boat or car with strong turbo then premium is the way to go. But for the new Rio the benefits are limited and improved fuel economy won't return the cost increase in full.
      Also, congrats on the car. It's nice
