I can't tell you how many people I speak to who have absolutely no clue as to what is occurring in our country let alone the world. Quite frankly, I find it astonishing if not frightening. Family members have mocked me by saying; "You've been saying a collapse is coming for the past 4 years and it still hasn't happened," and they continue on with their life without blinking an eye. All the while, I continue to prepare as best I can i.e, grow my own food, stock up, raise poultry, etc. Lastly, I have told my husband we need to sell our home when and move, he would rather rent it and keep it as an investment property. While I do understand his point, we do reside in CA which is not landlord friendly and we have no plans of returning. I have tried my best on my end to prepare, but I am beyond frustrated no one around me can see what is unfolding.

Sell it! Get out while the getting is good. My Sister and her boyfriend each owned homes with renters, one in WA, the other in CA. Both of the renters stopped paying rent, trashed the houses, and wouldn't move out. The renters in CA, drug users, came back and squatted in the attic after they were legally evicted. They were both remote owners of said properties.

A lot of my family have Planned holidays abroad in these uncertain times.

I don't own any property unfortunately, been a carer for my disabled Mum for 11 years so can't do a regular job. Have been prepping long term food, household supplies and silver slowly and steadily for years as it's all I can do. Completely agree with you Ken.
Bless you 🖤 I've been taking care of my husband's grandmother (advanced Parkinson's) for 9 years too, we moved her in with us in 2020 so I'm in a similar situation as you. Don't forget about seed saving and start yourself a little container garden if you dont have a plot in the ground already. Square food gardening a no-till 3 sisters garden makes starting extremely easy. Quail and bantam chickens are pretty quiet and only need a small space. Fresh eggs and meat don't need refrigerated! Please take care of yourself, being a 24/7 caregiver with no respite is a tough gig.

@@giftedandbroke thank you so much. Fortunately for her, I am the best person for the job with a ton of medical experience under my belt. We have her so well managed, even her pain meds are given only as needed, where she used to take 16 pills 4X a day for symptoms... (The meds caused way more issues than they helped.) When she gets squirrely, I just tell her that her daughter should have married a nice handsome doctor lol. It's tough sometimes but we are happy to have her with us. She and her great granddaughter are a bit like siblings, they act just alike.
My husband was severed from his engineering job just before Christmas and has had to switch careers after 18 years with the same company. He's not making much currently but is no longer a cog in the machine, was able to switch fields pretty easily in the end. Thank God he listened to me and didn't accept that clot shot! I saw what was coming long ago and started collecting old books that I found interesting, (or that may be in jeopardy of being sanitized). Started collecting seeds almost a decade ago, am in year 3 of poultry keeping, 4th year gardening, 1st year with a little indoor hydroponic setup, and 1st year keeping a sourdough starter. Everything takes time but slow and steady will win the race. It probably feels like you're a bit "stuck" but I bet you're way ahead of most of your neighbors in the prepping dept, just for thinking ahead and being aware. Thank you for caring, and sacrificing some of your life for your Mother. Elder care facilities are an absolute joke and it still takes a village 🖤🖤

My youngest daughter is homeless with her baby daddy and 3 kids. They are in a bad place. A three bedroom apartment costs between $1800 a month, my second daughter who's 33 has serious physical problems and still works because she would lose her house and vehicles so she causes herself extreme pain for the Almighty dollar, my oldest has mental health issues which has been untreated for years is on drugs I'm now raising her 10 year old daughter I'm 65i know how my husband and i are really struggling we had to get welfare. My husband works hard has had to change jobs to even stay employed When i see all this my heart aches. None of it is necessary. The ciuntry is falling apart like it was planned. They want to divide us permanently. Why you ask why and its easier to control people. As i watch prices rise I'm forced to make decisions i wish i didn't have to. Food, gas and rent take every penny. If we need anything extra say clothes. It takes literally takes weeks to save the money. Lastly i love pie I buy the little one serving size they were 50 cents now they're 84 cents.

You talked about the labor involved with scrapping, and that really spoke to me. Four years ago, I bought an old farm off of a hoarder . The place was full of scrap, and I have earned thousands recycling all of it. The key being “earned”. In the end, all of that effort seemed to be equivalent to a low paying job without a boss. Yet, clearing all of it was satisfying.
Almost always get a nail in the tire if we take metal to the scrap yard. Not even worth it!
I scrapped out a bad window AC one time, what I got paid for it wasn't worth the effort! Found out later the scrap yard I brought it to was ripping people off!🤬 Heard about a friend of a guy I knew broke his arm falling from a telephone pole trying to steal copper!🤣🤣

I live in London UK. Last month I've received a letter with a parking ticket from a place I've never been before. In the pictures was a car identical with mine, the same registration number. After I've checked better I've realised that it had different shaped mirrors and no sun roof. It was a different car, the same colour and model, the same registration number. Crazy

Look up the TS100 if you need a good backup iron to yours. Runs on usb C from a QC3.0 output. You will thank me later.

About going down the drain. my poodle died . i have decided to not get another dog.vet bills and Lyme disease. i used to buy the tic and flea medicine at 50$ . the dog would bring tics in and they would fall off the dog and go for me. many people in southern or have Lyme just terrible. additionally i have sold my boat. storage fees 100$ a month and everything just gets stolen.
