Excellent review on a very tough subject matter. I was not aware of that title but now I want to read it. Well done.

I'm horrified considering inhabiting this text, but you convince me that it an important place to go.

It's OK. I felt intimidated by this book, too. But it's worthwhile - you won't ever forget Precious.

My dear, while profanity is a turn off for me, there are times when it is appropriate in telling a story effectively. I have not heard of this title until now......and it is your review and the revelation of a deeper meaning, deeper purpose, for this title and the story, that has intrigued me. Now I know I must read it! You mentioned the EMT telling her to "PUSH", then later the teacher explaining how to learn to read, was for her to "PUSH".......which of course gives the title PUSH its raison d'etre.
Another book I read a couple of years ago was Richard Wright's NATIVE SON, and following it to the end was difficult for me, but it was totally honest on so many levels.....I get the same feeling toward PUSH as you present it. There seems to be honesty in the presentation of both PUSH and NATIVE SON. I anticipate that PUSH will provide as enduring an impact on my mind and heart as NATIVE SON.......

@@moccasinlanding Native Son is an excellent comparison and a great book. I may consider a reread along with Push. Attention must be paid.
