Listen, I love Matthew Perry. But if you read his book, you see that he was in love with 10-20 different women at different points in time. Jennifer was only one of those women. If him and Jennifer had been a thing, he would have eventually ended things with her and broken up with her. The same way he broke up with the rest of the 10-20 women. Because he had issues and he was struggling, and it was too hard for him to get by trying to be healthy and putting himself out there in his relationships at the same time.

The problem with "Rachel is main character" theory is that the writer treat her as the primary love interest of Ross. The show doesn't end from Rachel 's point or view. We don't see Rachel agonizing over the decision to take her dream job in Paris or stay with Ross. It's shown from Ross's point of view and his happiness is given priority over Rachel. Also in the pilot, it ended with Ross saying "I just grabbed a spoon" like he declared that he is going to pursue Rachel and the show ended with Rachel staying with him sacrificing her dream job.
All to continue the most toxic relationship in sitcom history.

Ahh I want the times back when tv shows were mere tv shows and not something for people to fetch problems from it... When Ross-Rachel was just a love story, and not all the "tHeY aRe ToXiC" thing for people to fight... When jeeezzz people had enough sense to see it is Fictional TV SHOW and NOT REAL!!!
The show is called FRIENDS, not the Ross or Rachel show. Certain characters were maybe more liked or focused on at times than others but the show was NEVER about just 1 person. Too many people just focused on Ross or Rachel when the show was about the lives of FRIENDS living in NY. The Ross and/or Rachel rants are so ridiculous.
#1 Matthew Perry was in "love" with ALL his hot costars and had crushes not only on all 3 Friends girls but also Valerie Bertinelli (he actually made out with her even though she was married to Eddie Van Halen) and more. It had nothing to do with his depression. He was just a drug addict. He had no reason to be depressed with so much money for life from Friends residuals. The people who have it the easiest INVENT stupid reasons to be depressed. #2. JOEY- the tv show- was so beyond awful, it should be avoided at all costs.
Yeah but Rachel is moving the farthest while Monica and chandler are still in driving distance and I also think it’s more about Ross and Rachel relationship then Rachel just moving away
I really respect the fact that you're able to say that even though you like Friends, it's still not your favorite show. Just because you enjoy a series, doesn't mean you have to be a hardcore fan. Props to you Dillon. 👏
Where do you get that Matthew Perry was in love with Jennifer Aniston and that he was suicidal?? He had a crush on her at one point but was never in love with her.
Yes he was. He stated that numerous times. It was NOT just a crush, he loved her even before Friends started but Jennifer turned him down. That being said though, it wasn't the reason for his problems, so Dillon is just assuming things. Sometime ago he mixed Courtney and Jennifer and claimed that Matthew was DEEPLY in love with Courtney, when that was never true.
@@finnnordik he noted a huge crush and being interested in her but not "in love" with her.
he did state he loved Jen, I think after her marriage to pitt it fizzled out though. I don't think around season 10 he had those feelings for her still

Rachel is bad character, she is not great person. She is cute and lovable, but she did bad things and many times was bad person.
