Pattu ji I faced some medical emergency last year at that time I was helpless. My father had a block in his heart so we have to go for angio. Yes we don't have emergency fund. As we are business people we managed this situation. But this is not the end of the story. Per day medical bill was 6-12k in hospital still we managed. Later discharged from hospital. Then there is a recovery period. Almost three months we struggled for home expenses like milk, medical check up, grocery expenses. The list goes on. You have mentioned jobless corpus but please add medical recovery also. People think they have medical insurance but not aware of recovery period. When it comes to job loss people think about recession and they have no idea about illness recovery. This experience thought me a lesson to make emergency corpus. Your video will help people like us.

Awesome work Dr Pattu, Stumbled on your blog from reddit. I graduated about 10 months ago and realized I lived paycheck to paycheck. Your work is very helpful. I appreciate you doing it for free.

Actually, now a days we have internet and when we plan to search anything on the internet, we would get many information and at the end, we will end up feeling confused. So, right direction from your side is really helping each of us. Thank you.

Thanks Pattu sir for the valuable tips.
Esp. the appliance emergency fund. It is much needed in today’s world, where manufacturers program the appliance to break down just the day after warranty is over 😀

Sir, thank you so much for the work you do. When you say expenses for x months, should we just add basic needs expenses or include amounts we end up putting as investments each month to keep the investments going?

Sir what accident insurance would you suggest. What would be the yardstick to buy such an insurance.

Vanakkam sir, I have an overdraft account from a homeloan. It is easy to liquidate in seconds and having money stashed their reduces EMI impact. Can this be a buffer to have the emergency funds?

If we create SIP for Emergency Fund and do not use it for a year, should we stop that SIP and divert that fund to other Equity only fund since we already have enough liquid reserve?

you will know if you have enough only after an emergency! So dont!
