That judge was out of line. He went over and above what was needed.

“One day this woman will thank this judge”….for punishing her for being tired, because she had no bed to sleep in, for humiliating for, and talking down to her and shaming her for not getting enough sleep.
Making someone who is struggling, a child, on a field trip.
No, that is not something she’ll look back at and say, “That public shaming and trauma I received for falling asleep in a courtroom on a summer field trip because I have no bed to sleep in really changed my life. I deserved to be shamed, humiliated and scolded in front of my friends! Boy , he sure changed my life!”

This is why I didn't understand why as an adult as a man you didn't have any understanding to just ask that she be removed. Was she snoring why was the judge so focused on the audience? That lady needs a hug everyone should not be greet with tough love 😢🤦🏿‍♀️🤷🏿‍♀️

She fell asleep… repeatedly. That’s probably a health issue. Not a behavior issue.

Thank you for mentioning this. All the more reason for the judge not to punish her.

@@laqueensha As right as you are, you know there’s a large amount of the public who think being homeless is a moral failing and should be punished as so.

May this creep stay “removed from the bench” FOREVER! There is no greater evil than an evil judge. Society can not tolerate this.

I’m all for tough love but I think that comes with rapport and relationship. As an educator, I would’ve had a sidebar with the student and looked into why they were repeatedly falling asleep before addressing the behaviour.

I would love to know if the outlier has children. If so, does she discipline her children with this tough love? The child fell asleep on a voluntary field trip. She was not a criminal who needed to be scared straight. The appropriate thing to do was to remove her if her behavior was so offensive to the judge not traumatize her for something she couldn't control in that moment.

He literally said “Why are you being disrespectful to this court?" King said. "You sleep at home, in your bed - not in court. And quite frankly, I don’t like your attitude."
When the judge asked the 16-year-old, "what is your problem?" She responded with, "I apologize, I’m just tired."
Her disrespectful attitude was apologizing for being tired.
    Unacceptable.

The ladies on the right had reasonable approaches while the ladies on the left was trying to justify the judges actions when SLEEPING is NEVER a means to a jail cell. Sorry, but not sorry. The judge was on a power trip, and if you can't see that then you're drinking from the same fountain. Good bless the lady in red and the lady to her immediate left (and our right from a viewers perspective).

The stats used as an excuse for his abusive behavior was ridiculous. Many black children are wrongly imprisoned, so why not highlight that stat? There was an assumption about this child simply because she fell asleep on a field trip. He allowed the other students to join in on her "punishment." Do some searching she is homeless and a good student. However, he has gone viral b4 for yelling an adult black female attorney. Update he was removed and is now in training. Abuse is not acceptable no matter who's doing it.
