It is a NOW song! Prophetic - inspired of God! It is important for the congregation to learn and sing, as it is scripture. Most Christian’s would not know scripture without music - music can help them declare over their households and speak over their children & grandkids

I think you miss the part as a Worship Leader to connect to the word given by God which turn into a song. All the Lyrics are based from the scriptures and the melody was given by God thru this worshipers like Kari Jobe and the others which she testified on the first part of the video. You're too distracted dissecting and analysing the song in a technical way just to give a review about it. It's not about being Catchy or whatever it is, it is about God speaking to us with the song. It is not about whether you decide to do the song on your church or not, it is God who will put the instruction in your heart and not you. That just a piece of advise since I am concerned about the way you see it. We'll, I kinda expecting some spiritual review and impression about the song. We are a servant of God and we are not serving the people. We are just an instrument used by God to reach his people. A song without anointing will not bring blessings. Please be reminded about that.

I think, worship should be from Down (us) to up (God) even when the lyrics come from the Bible, but it should be from us to God, not from God to Us. Worship means, Compliment

The song is so powerful, because of the word of God is living and active Hebrews 4:12,
Like Kari Jobe said it came from the Heart of the Father.
    (Numbers 6:24-26)
    The Lord bless you
    And keep you
Make His face shine upon you
    And be gracious to you
    The Lord turn His
    Face toward you
    And give you peace
    (Exodus 20:6)
May His favor be upon you
    And a thousand generations
And your family and your children
And their children, and their children
    (Exodus 33:14)
May His presence go before you
And behind you, and beside you
All around you, and within you
He is with you, He is with you
    (Psalm 55:17)
In the morning, in the evening
    (Psalm 121:8)
In your coming, and your going
    (Psalm 30:5)
    In your weeping, and rejoicing
    (Romans 8:31)
He is for you, He is for you

Alot of people say it is repetitive but it is from scripture so leeway for more lyrics is not welcome. A song that was sculpted from the throne room will get commentary but will not be accepted fully in the heart by many.

I agree that this may not be the best song for every context. Yes, the lyrics are from scripture, but we must be wary of isolating scripture from its context and painting with a broad brush. This song is very powerful but it can easily be a self serving, feel good song. We must be wary, for it's easy to misconstrue scripture that God is 'FOR ME', and serves 'me'. God is for God, and will move according His will that which glorifies Himself and preserves His Holiness.

I have always assumed that the use of the 6-4-1-5 and similar progressions was to make the music easy to play for the churches that do not have the skill level to play complex progressions. In that light, I can get behind songs like this. Lyrics from scripture are pretty hard to criticize and repetition is how humans memorize and learn. The combination make this song pretty hard to knock.

Listen to this song being sung in different languages, it’s Amazing How Gods Blessings have reached Many different Nations. Especially Nations that are Originally of different cultures. I was trying to find it in Irish Gaelic but I couldn’t find it, I found it in Spanish, and French and other languages. I’m Lutheran and our Pastor says that before we leave the worship service. And as we leave the church parking lot it says” Now entering the Mission Field “.

I found this song so interesting! I'm not sure why nobody else has brought it up, but I thought this song, at least the first part, was just a modern twist on the old hymn The Lord Bless You and Keep You (which was based on Numbers 6:24-26, Aaron's blessing to the people of Israel). That was the first thing that came to me when I first heard it. I grew up singing that song in church and you can find it on the back of all the hymnals! Maybe nobody else know those old songs anymore hahaha

I just came across this video. That you didn't acknowledge the word-for-word Scriptural lyrics concerns me a bit. The bridge is so powerful with the repetition "He is for you." It's a message many, many people don't believe because they think they have no worth. Some people don't feel worthy enough to be blessed by anyone, especially God. Every once in awhile a song comes along with a clear Holy Spirit unction. This is definitely one of them.

The verse used at the beginning is widely known blessing/benediction and commonly used at the end of church services around the world. That's the only 'word for word' scripture, not much to say about it.

    Is there an issue?

    No problem right.
Important is to received the blessings from others n you blessing others too, the blesdings of God.

The first verse is awsome. There's not much after that. I would have to add at least 2 more verses from scripture so that it's not essentially a song of a repeated chant. I would want to encourage more from Gods word. It's so full of the promises of His blessings for His children. The music was nice.

    • @benedictquagraine9722
      @benedictquagraine9722 4 роки тому +2

You're right that the Word of God is full of messages and blessings for His children. But maybe a simple, single word from the Lord is enough. Maybe this is one of those times we don't have to fill the song up with lyrics and make it verbose. This song, as it is (imho), is very loaded with a singular message that is repeated over and over. God does that sometimes so that it sinks in, that we stop to reflect upon and rest in the assurance of that word. This might not be the time to add extra lyrics or make it long 🙏🏾

    GREAT VIDEO REVIEW!
LOVE THE PART OF THE "6-4-1-5" CHORD REPETITION WHICH IS SO TRUE ESPECIALLY IN CHURCH NOW IN DAYS. I HONESTLY BELIEVE AT THIS POINT ITS GETTING A BIT OUT OF HAND AND BORING. BUT I GUESS THAT JUST PERTAINS TO MOSTLY MUSICIANS / ARTIST LIKE MYSELF BECAUSE I BELIEVE OR WHAT IVE SEEN THROUGH OUT THE YEARS IS THAT THE CONGREGATION WOULD NEVER REALLY NOTICE CHORD PROGRESSIONS OR MUSICAL CHANGES!
    WHAT DO YOU THINK?

It's a great song but it's not a worship song. I would agree it's appropriate to play in church in the right context but not as part of a time of worship as worship entails adoration for our God not for God's words that are a blessing to ourselves. That would take the glory away from Himself. It's great that it's biblical which is more than what I can say for a lot of popular Christian songs. But I can't say that I'm surprised it's a big hit though. Most Christians songs are centered around feeling good about yourself but that's not the purpose or intent of worship. Who doesn't like declaring the Lord's blessings over themselves and their family? Most "worship" is pretty self-serving and would rather sing about what we get out of our relationship with God as opposed to adore and revere Him for who he is. I would err on the side of caution in having this song be at the top of your list everyday as it can become a mild "prosperity gospel" in song form. Again, not a bad song. A great song. Sing it over your kids like a prayer. But don't mistake it for worshipping our good Lord. Props to @worshipleaderhangout for the honest reaction.

I would disagree with that, sir. I think we should realise that these are not only his personal (individual) reactions but he also speaks from the position of a congregational worship leader. Hence he has to balance both views and perspectives. There's a heavy burden and a lot to think of before a worship leader takes a song to a congregation. I respect his restraint and willingness to interrogate his own feelings versus the place of the song (plus the music) in worship. I say we pray for people like this who are in these positions because for them it is not just a case of their preference or biases

Recommend another "new" song to do a 'Worship Leader Reacts to' "Christ Our Hope in Life and Death" from the Gettys. I think it could be a better congregational song than "The Blessing", which is emotionally powerful indeed, but not as strong musically. Enjoy your channel and videos very much.

I had the same initial reaction as he did. It hit me like, 'That sounds really good... but directionally it's weird.' I know it's been a huge blessing to people (pun intended) but like with Reckless Love, it hits me weird. There's just something that hits me sideways. Meh. I think there are much more fantastic ones out there. :)

I really like elevation worship as a group. They are all incredibly talented. But I’m not really a fan of their lyrics with their most recent songs. There is too much repetition. They have good lyrics, don’t get me wrong, they are just overused. I wish we had more songs like “So Will I”

I personally would also like to see more lyrically. The decision for simplicity may be so that the congregation are more likely to sing along as well, but there needs to be a better balance between complexity and simplicity in lyrics. I’m inclined to believe the congregation is smarter than we sometimes give them credit for. Thanks for watching.

I don’t know agree that you picked it apart. The people at church won’t know one cord progression from another! If you wanted to critique the song, you should not have done it online for everyone to see. The comment about Steven Furtick wasn’t appropriate either. I’m wondering where is your heart? There’s jealousy with ministers who are not as grand as they want to be. You’re one of them. I understand. I was married to a pastor who wanted to go to the “next big church.“ If you cannot rejoice with those He’s trusted with more, I’d be on my knees asking God to show me what is hidden within me! Ask yourself hard questions!! Jealousy will ruin your effectiveness!
