I just watched a video essay explaining that Arya was actually killed by the Waif and Arya is the Waif in disguise. Right before she leaves Bravoos she was called no one by Jagen Haggar but the Waif says she is Arya Stark of Winterfell. So the waif has become no one but is disguised as Arya Stark.
The Waif revealing herself after wounding Arya shows exactly her "weakness". She too feels like she's someone and not a no one, cause she wanted to tell Arya "Look at me. It was ME who killed you, not just a random old lady". That's not how a real no one would think nor would act. As a matter of fact, it's exactly what Arya does later when killing Frey.
You are right on the surface ,but the difference with killing Frey was it was already personal because of what he did to her family. She definitely made an exception for him and I don't blame her.
I think not. A girl is finally no one is a confirmation that the arya in her is no longer there. And when she said " a girl is arya stark...." It is like saying I'm a faceless man wearing arya as a mask.

@@ineedhelp8573 I agree. There is absolutely nothing like good storytelling. And you're right, the differing opinions are what make stories everlasting. Much like a good song, that many people can interpret differently.
Theory: The Waif had become a mentally unstable and fanatical follower of the Many Faced God. She hated Arya so much because she knew that she was just using the Faceless Men to get the training she needed to kill the people on her list, and would leave the order once she got what she needed. To The Waif, this was an insult to her order and blasphemy, and she wanted Arya dead for it. In reality, the Many Faced God was far more offended by The Waif's devotion, gatekeeping, and sadism, than by Arya's refusal to give up her true identity. To him, Arya was never a true Faceless Man, because she never stopped being Arya. Since she wasn't part of his cult she could not blaspheme against and him. This is why she was merely punished, instead of killed, when she "stole" Meryn Trant from him. But The Waif WAS at some point truly a "No One," who had fallen away and become a "someone" again, by becoming too obsessed with their religion, by holding a personal grudge against Arya, and by her sadistic enjoyment of suffering. She wasn't "playing" The Waif anymore, she had really become The Waif. The Faceless aren't butchers; they do have their own set of moral codes. They will kill innocent or undeserving people, but they usually charge steep and often bizarre prices to do so, and sometimes they even refuse contracts. They often attempt to kill their victims quickly and painlessly. They are also very compassionate to the sick and dying, offering a way to end their lives easily and caring for their bodies after they die. Jaqen H'gar was an ideal worshiper of the Many Faced God: He did not fanatically follow their religion, he didn't gatekeep, he wasn't angry that Arya was attempting to use them, he didn't hold any strong opinions one way or the other, he was kind and compassionate without motive, he respected other people as equals, he took life without pleasure in it. So he was used by the Many Faced God to correct The Waif's path. Jaqen pitted Arya and The Waif against each other, to teach The Waif that obsession, ego, rage, cruelty and fanatical obsession to The Many Faced God was the true blasphemy. Or to kill her in trying. Is the person who was The Waif truly dead? Maybe. Maybe not. We saw "Jaqen H'gar" drink poison and "survive." Is he the original Jaqen? Or did another Faceless simply take his mask and step into his shoes? Perhaps the Faceless never really die, they just lose their favorite mask and get demoted to new identities. Or maybe the person playing The Waif really was killed, and her mask put on the wall like a retired jersey, and she's now doing time in whatever afterlife the Many Faced God provides for his people...
the gods in game of thrones aren't real in their own universe. "the old gods"=bloodraven "the lord of light"=bran with greensight "the many faced god" is literally an abstract concept. The Waif actually fell to her own hubris IMO and no god was there to turn on her.

Well-acted and the scenes were well-written but the arc was badly done from the books. In the books, The Waif wasn't (yet) an antagonist but fellow trainee and the Servants of the Many-Faced Gods were playing at the Game of Thrones themselves. She stabbed Arya in the stomach instead of slicing her throat. She meant for Arya's death to be slow and painful. This alone proved that her actions went beyond the Faceless and emotions ruled her hands. Arya should have carved out her lady parts and placed it in his bed, because she was acting like a jealous lover.
prettier? woah. LOL
Arya isn’t prettier but I agree with everything else
@@majestyk8654 yeah she wasn’t as pretty as others, like Sansa. But Jacq clearly saw something he liked, he called her lovely. Eyes of the beholder I guess. I like to think it was her inner strength which made her special (lovely) to him. A lot of my male friends think she’s cute.
@@kimcreel669 dont think the waif was romantically in love with jaqen, but she was def jealous of her. He didnt fall in love with arya either, he was just fascinated by her potential imo, and maybe saw her as a friend.
I remember when we thought the waif killed Arya and took her face.
We need a spin-off of this character
Imagine how terrifying it is to be hunted by faceless man.
You cant change that, i cant change that ,"No one" can
I always believed Arya was brought there to kill the waif.
I love how Waif was defeated off screen. Totally not unsatisfying
i heard it was forbidden to show children's death on tv, especially gruesome ones, that may be why?

"finally a girl is no one". Why? What does that mean? Why does killing the Waif make Arya "no one"? This whole plot made zero sense.
I took it as a form of acknowledgement that Arya has finished her training, and was worthy to join him as a faceless one. But Arya refused it to return home.
Oh, is that how candles work? lol.
The Faceless men was believed to brought the doom to Valyria. Theyre freaking awesome. 😀
I hated it the moment Arya sliced the candle. The room was filled with darkness and voila! The Waif's head is already placed on that some sort of an altar. It should have been satisfying if they did a fist to fist or sword to sword combat and to see how Needle cuts off the Waif's head.
This experience for Arya was pre-ordained for the time that was to come. Its course was likely set long before, and even foretold by the Red Witch. The look on Jaqen H"ghar spells it out, he did his part for the war to come.
Game of Thrones is the best ever epic grandeur tv show in the history ❤️
Expect 7,8 season
@@aryxn_ I'd even give 7 a pass, it had its moment, but 8 sucked
@@aryxn_ it's not been truly epic since season 4.
Yeah, if you stop counting past season 5.
But you could say the same thing about lots of great shows that failed to stick their landings, but none failed so spectacularly as Game of Thrones.
So the Waif killed Aria and was acting under her face for the rest of the series.
What happens to the faceless man in the end? We don’t see him anymore
A man wants to see no one?
It's always nice to put a face to a name.
Arya's story arch is the best
This is the only thing that comes to mind everytime she appears on Andor.
the waif pissed me off so much
She can he my waif any day
The waif got what she deserved. And she wasn't even on Arya's list (that we know of).
It was impossible for Arya to put her on the list even though she wanted to, she can't put a person on the list if she doesn't has the name. The faceless-men have no name so that's why, but she obviously wanted her dead
No one is the most contemplative question in this series.
I am in a strange place
Who are you?
I dont know what I want
You are no stranger
You dont want anything

Some of the best parts of the series.
No one is the best teacher in the entire GOT universe.
They pretty much missed the part of Arya being an undertaker, also a fishmonger. Arya was also warging into Nimeria when she slept.
Loved the waif. Can’t believe that poor actress got so much hate.
Waaaaaaaaaw
Best scene in got wen he Said: finally a girl is no one
And She Said:
A girl is aya stark of winterfull
I own the entire series in 4K. It is incredibly idiotic that HBOMax neglects to offer GOT on their streaming platform in Dolby Vision.
They gotta sell merch dummy
@@marvdatboi You are right; I'm the fool for my opinion, and I'm OK with that, but let's focus I'm talking about something that is a widespread factor on the streaming service HBOMax that continues well after a year of no expansion in the 4K UHD library and WarnerMedia has access to tons of movies already on 4K disc that they refuse to offer on the streaming service is all I'm meaning. What makes you say that
@@sadlobster1 Arya getting stabbed in the stomach twice, has the knife twisted inside of her, falls into a medieval city river absolutely infested with bacteria that people empty their chamber pots in, and gets better in like, a week?
Arya is Schrodinger's cat. Arya is 50% dead in that cave.
Too bad Arya seemed to forget all her water dance fighting while in the House of Black and White.
i would liked to see him appear in the final seaon, maybe saving arya in the big battle of the dead and when she goes to him he says something like "no one saves arya stark"
The Waif had hands!
You know what, I used to think this storyline was dumb, and I still do (mostly because Arya is so careless and that wound really should've gotten infected, but she got off scot free). But it's better than I remember. The two actresses seem to have good chemistry, and their fight scenes all in a row show a clear picture (Arya is never better than her with sight, but specifically got good at countering her while blind). I think previously I rejected this because I was hoping the House of Black and White would be a longer/more interesting plot and the waif is quite different from her book counterpart. Shame we never got to see Arya warging cats or whatnot.
Welp bout to re watch this masterpiece
this is the right response
Only who knows what you really are, then you turn into a real no one and won't get lost!
arya is the best.
She did what she was supposed to do, put many eyes to sleep. Brown eyes, black eyes … and blue eyes
#RESTORETHESNYDERVERSE
In the book the waif was a woman in her thirties who took medicine that made her look like a child. She was a midget who never grew up.
The only storyline those Dbag writers got right. Mr Martin please finish the books 🙏
What is the waif's accent? I love it!
Russian
The actress who plays the waif is British. She's also in the white queen, another great series.
I have a love hate relationship towards this arc. On one hand I love it, on the other I hate it cause it feels too surreal...
This actually had me shocked 😲
Arya: Ow! C*nt!
The Waif(u): Baka!
Arya Arya
i wonder if Jaqqen realized he was training the end of the Night King
He wasn’t a green seer. He didn’t know.
A debt is paid.
The waif is very terminator esque
background music name plsss
Well-acted and the scenes were well-written but the arc was badly done from the books. In the books, The Waif wasn't (yet) an antagonist but fellow trainee and the Servants of the Many-Faced Gods were playing at the Game of Thrones themselves. Like a lot of what Martin wrote, unresolved or ignored by the producers as they neared the end of what Martin had published.
She did have a funny little list i think.
I never understood the Point
LOVE this scene!!
My question, did faceless men failed to make her no one?
she got the training for a faceless men, but she chose to keep her identity and not serve with the assassins.
@@magestag6208 Exactly. Probably "finally a girl is no-one" is partly him trying to stall her killing him if she wants to and partly an official graduation certificate.
