I usually skip it cause it's kinda cringy. Especially now when, ever since pewds started doing it, everybody is doing this reacting to memes and telling their fans to put in on reddit.
You forgot the most important Trivia regarding Tony the Tiger: the commercial you showed was one of the last times the original voice actor for Tony the Tiger performed. Thurl Ravenscroft was Tony's voice since 1952 till his death in 2005. He was also the uncredited singer for the song "You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch."
God that red bucket with the black lid full of coffee is so nostalgic for me. My dad really only drinks Folgers coffee and in the early 00's my dad and I would use the containers to feed the horse he agreed to take care of for someone who moved and couldnt take their horse
Only thing that bothered me is a lot of it was off tempo or beat. I feel like they could have gotten a few more takes and gotten it better or cut it to keep it on tempo.. I'd say in a new commercial like that they would.. possibly even with a bit of autotune.. it was heartwarming yet also felt a bit forced.
The 'I'm lovin it" single by Justin Timberlake is actually completely different to that advert in every way. Maybe he recorded two complete separate songs cause yeahhh everything is different. Even the lyrics. There isn't any rapping either
Joel singing the Folger's song, now that's iconic! I like hearing his lower range. And the Oscar Mayer jingle -- the next line is, "'Cause everyone would be in love with me." Yes, I'm that old. Even as a kid I thought it was dumb (translation: cringe) but a bunch of my friends loved to sing it. Urgh.
My grandparents wrote jingles for local radio in Kent England. They got a few onto tv picked up by ITV and national radio - they actually had some big hits … I can’t remember any 🥺
For his English speaking audience, a lot of these gave at least me a chuckle.. but for someone who's Swedish speaking English he does really well. There are a lot of inconsistencies in English like Folger's having a J sound. It's one of the many reasons English is so hard to learn correctly. Even if I write the word bow, how do you say it and what does it mean? a)bend to show respect b)tie a knot c)shoot an arrow out of it d)a stick used for self defense or e) all of the above
I remember a lot of these! There's one local place that a has a jingle, and I hate myself for knowing every word. It's Felix Septic Service, and their catch phrase is "When it comes to number 2, we're number 1!" Honestly, it's so terrible but I have zero control over what comes out of my mouth when that jingle comes on.
I really enjoy these jingles. WHY THE FRICK ARE THEY SO CATCHY?? (Also, it's weird seeing some of these being pretty old, and the colour being grainy as hell).
bandaid commercial was so good that most if not all americans call any other bandaidlike product, "bandaids" just like someone tells you to "google it" and their friend pulls out their iphone and uses safari.
This just took me back to childhood, The Bandaid stuck on me, pillow pet, and 5 dollar foot long commercials are practicaly as a part of my childhood as Blues clue, Dragon Tales, and Wonder pets. I forget how it came up but my grandparents once told me they remembered the oscar Wiener commercials from when they were little.

You know, I think one of the most iconic American jingles is the Empire Carpet jingle. They were just a Chicago based company who made the best decision ever to advertise on WGN, which was originally just a small Chicago station that somehow got picked up and made a major cable network. That jingle was so catchy that they went from being a local carpet company to truly becoming and empire. And they have never updated their jingle except to update the phone number. I wonder how much money they have made on that very genius gamble.
they ask you how you are, and you just have to say that you're fine, when you're not really fine, but you just can't get into it because they would never understand.
Since you asked in the video, I used to work at a McDonald's and the employees do the cleaning. I usually ended up cleaning the lobby, restrooms, and dishes. I also had to make the tea. At the location I worked at, there were cashiers, cooks, managers, and drive through attendants. And then several other employees that were none of those things, whose sole purpose was to do all the things the other people didn't really have time for. Things like the cleaning and making the tea and fetching things from the storage area, restocking the cups, etc. I have no clue if every location works that way, but that's how that location was.
