Newslaundry, I request you to report on the NRS incident in Kolkata. The Tmc government has made it very difficult for government doctors to work. Every time a patient dies, his family blames doctors and often they beat doctors up and Mamata defends the culprits. In this case the patient was terminally ill and the junior doctor tried his best. But in return, 200 goons pelted stones on him, causing a depression in his skull. He is admitted in a private hospital (Institue of Neurosciences, Kolkata) and Mamata threatened the doctors treating the junior doctor to change their statements to police. The local media channel (ABP Ananda) only shows patients protesting (since doctors are on strike and emergency facilities are not available) and they provoke more anti-doctor sentiments in the public. They also ran two fake headlines, one claiming a patient had been beaten and another claiming that a woman was refused treatment, when in reality she had delivered a baby that very day and was admitted. Few more doctors have been beaten up in nearby medical colleges. Many doctors and professors are resigning. Mamata was asked to confront doctors, instead she threatened them to get back to work by yesterday 2pm. The only demands the doctors had made were arrests of the guilty (only 5 people have been arrested, while the majority Muslim mob had at least 200, you can see the video) and basic security. Doctors are fed up with this government, which is why many are now siding with the BJP, even though they are against BJP's ideology. The entire state's doctors are under attack, and we'll continue to protest until Mamata meets with us and provides humane working conditions. Please cover this in detail because national media is not doing its part (except Republic, but they obviously have vested interests). It is the silence of media in such uncomfortable cases which made Bengal sway towards BJP in the elections, the media just always supports TMC, cause they're against BJP. But the truth is that TMC is the most dictatorial regime in all of India. Please don't ignore this, I beg of you. I have requested many other UA-camrs (dhruv, akash banerjee, open letter), but nobody (left or right) has covered this. Please, please talk about this, its only a matter of time before doctors get assassinated by TMC's goons, we need media voices supporting us. Thousands of doctors were marching in protest on the streets yesterday and ABP Ananda was airing a scripted interview with Mamata. If you think Zee/NDTV/Republic does yellow journalism, you've never watched ABP Ananda. Please cover this and also do an expose on ABP Ananda, I can help you in translating to Bengali or get someone who knows Bengali and is from Kolkata. Please, its the need of the hour.
