How’s this for a car vs bike drag race?!
Mat’s lining up in a Toyota GR Yaris, and he’s lining up against a Dakar Rally-winning GASGAS RX 450F!
So let’s see how the two compare. Starting with the GR Yaris, it’s powered by a 1.6-litre 3-cylinder turbo engine that delivers 264hp and 360Nm of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels, and the car tips the scales at 1,280kg.
As for the bike, well it’s a whole lot lighter, coming in at around 150kg! It’s powered by a 450cc fuel-injected single cylinder which can deliver around 72hp and 150Nm of torque. So sure, it’s way down on power, but it’s SO much lighter than the Yaris! What's more, it's also being ridden by none other than two-time Dakar rally winner Sam Sunderland!
However, that’s not all. If the GR Yaris isn’t up to it, we’ve also got a Toyota Supra joining us! This is powered by a 3-litre straight-six turbo that can produce 387hp and 500Nm. However, along with more power, there’s also more weight, coming in at around 1,500kg. What’s more, whereas the Yaris was all-wheel-drive, the Supra is only rear-wheel-drive!
So how will this play out - will the super-light bike power to victory? Or will one of the cars snatch victory? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

Aren't you supposed to sit as much to the back as possible when breaking on a bike? I know that's the case on a road-bike. Can't think of a reason why that should be any different on sand.

dirt bikes have a lot of torque at the cost of lower top speed since you probably don't have any straight on a rally track. All they need to do is launch really hard from corners
72HP/150kg + gearing to 170-180km/h, sorrry but what do you expect ?
With rider and some fuel its still like 300+ HP/tonne !

Raced with Sam in Dubai for quite a few years (Baja’s), and got lapped by him every time, unless he crashed 😂 he is such a great unassuming lad, a great desert racer, he deserves all our support 🇬🇧 🇦🇪 ….. by the way it’s a 450cc single cylinder, but with some very special internals, if you notice the Pankl sticker on his bike, that tells a story 👌🏻😎…. @@mr.mirror1213 I think Sam’s reply was a polite way of saying the exact figures confidential , but 70 wouldn’t be far off the mark, and I’m sure they can map the bikes for different race stages, The inside of the engines (Crank, Rod, piston, bearings, gearbox components etc. ) would be like comparing a Timex to a Rolex quality wise, that’s why they are so (generally) reliable and fast, and v expensive.

Without hesitation I would take a supra instead of a motorcycle cars are more useful for everyday driving etc motorcycles are just toys. And the supra has a higher top speed. At 1/2 mile roll race supra would win.

3) in a city a bike is way more usefull since you don't have to deal with trafic and if you rlly want to do your errands with a bike you can just buy a saddle bag and you re good to go

Aside from not knowing the amount of cylinders his bike has, sam is a very talented rider and seems like a really cool guy. The bike impressed me. I knew it was going to do well, but i expected it to run out of steam in the top end a lot earlier than what it did.

honestly crazy to see how fast 450's are, this is such a good example of that.... and this bike is like 50kg heavier than for example 450 mx bike with same power
These have more power than MX 450s. They have around 52hp avg, this has 20hp more. You can buy a new 450 and install the same mods for the same power and stay the same weight though. The extra 60lbs comes from the rally body and electronics.
@@saltyfloridaman7163 yeah that's true... my case would be true for the race bikes (e.g. supercross) def. not the regular 450's.... would be sweet to see that race tho, stock 450 vs some cars and maybe one with supermoto wheels to se the difference the tyre makes

The dakar 450 bikes are pretty much modified 450 single cylinder motocross bikes. The results would have been the same if you paired the car up with any 450. They have very short gearing that utilizes the power (60-75hp) much better over short distances. Fair to say the bike would have no chance over a longer straight because they mostly top out at 90mph.
but i think the dakar bike normally will put little bit longer rear gear for drop the rpm down bit,for the long distance race
@@mrjerrylee the Dakar KTM bikes surprisingly has on par acceleration rate with Delta S4.
Dakar bikes depending on what the rider wants can top out anywhere from 120mph to 150mph. They swap sprockets for preference

@@detaart Bikes are limited to 160 kph in Dakar Races (safety) and are geared rather short accordingly. Although I suspect Gas Gas changed the sprockets for this drag race.
@@luschtigadrei1475 Speed limit makes total sense. A lot of normal enduro bijes wouldn't even reach 160kph, or not for long anyways.
You could be right about the gearing. Sounded more MX than enduro to me, but then again the bike does have a fair bit of power.

Hey everyone, just wanted to mention something about the sound editing in this video. I happen to have four subwoofers in my setup, and I noticed a pretty intense low frequency rumble at the beginning. It might be worth considering the use of a high pass filter in future videos. Just a friendly suggestion to improve the overall audio experience. Keep up the great work!
