I did three, 5ft. tiers, stepping back into a bank (company didn't want to hire an engineer, so we were limited to 5ft per tier) with 3.5 feet of gravel backfill, for 180 feet of bank. The bobcat could only reach to backfill the first tier, and the trackhoe wouldn't fit into the space (and the bucket was unusably small, anyway), so I had to lug carry the gravel in 5gal buckets for all 6,300 cubic feet of gravel needed for the backfill of the upper 2 tiers. Oh, did I mention what the wall was made of? Not brick! Nope, irregular stone, that I had to sort by thickness, so that the rows were even within 0.5" across the entire length of the walls. I did the math. I carted, BY HAND, 210 tons of stone, not counting the gravel. I did the math. 60 separate 3.5-ton pallets of rock, stacked into a wall. Bobcat didn't help there, either. Haven’t read all of the comments, so this may have been covered already. The geogrid you put in to reinforce the wall is installed in the wrong direction. Uniaxial geogrid is strongest in the direction it comes off the roll (machine direction) and weakest in the direction of the transverse bars ( cross machine direction). You need to roll out and cut the grid in the required length for your embedment in the reinforced zone. It’s a pain, but it is the right way to do it. Unless you have a biaxial grid that has testing for MSE wall applications.
I am an architect and I like the way of mixing materials just to meet the clients requirements. It is an art, not easy. Needs you to search 🔍, choose the right material, and then design. Takes a long time to finish.

This is a great video!! I’ll watch 1000 of these instead of tick tok dances anyday!!
Boss got paid $50,000 for that job. I barely cleared $3,000. No bonus. I quit right after. Worst summer job I ever had. I'd have made almost as much serving smoothies at the mall, and there I'd have had A/C and a chance to interact with girls. Wish someone has told teenager me about predatory employers. At least I was ripped, by the end of it.
😢😢😢😢😢босс жадный и алчный человек.
Kudos to this man! He did that and now he has a strong back!
If I were his wife, I would not be complaining!! It's beautiful!! I would line it with potted flowers! 🌺🌼🌸💐🤍
I would hire these guys any day
Good work
What an awesome job! Well done.

Thumbs up for great workmanship!
Good job my man ❤
Very nice job
Wow. Looks great. Lots of back breaking work. I thought we were going to watch an in ground pool video. Still looks good
Masterful work! Awesome Garrels track!
I am an architect and I like the way of mixing materials just to meet the clients requirements.
It is an art, not easy. Needs you to search 🔍, choose the right material, and then design. Takes a long time to finish.
There's a lot of Science and Success in why this man Applied All that was needed to build this Wall,, American know How is Amazing
It has nothing to do with being american, it just had to do with the fact that just knew what they were doing
@@peterdanidson8109 I knew there’d be one of you
except no vertical ties. this wall might push out.
This was such a mild hill nothing was done for science this was purely aesthetic. Settle down buddy.
THAT’S what’s called…precision…‼️😃👍🏻

Finally someone that knows how to make a retaining wall the correct way
Great job doing it right……. I say this as an engineer that has testified in court against contractors that don’t.
Most people don’t know how important the stuff you don’t see is that is behind the wall.
Well…how long did that take? Great workmanship!
Déjà à la 2eme seconde. À la préparation tu sais que ce qu’il fait va être ultra propre. Bravo
That must have been very expensive, surely there is a cheaper way of doing it.
I'm sure there was a cheaper way but there was only one right way to do it
Gabion cages.
Не факт что габионные клетки были бы дешевле. В габионы уходят много камня. Наверняка он посчитал экономику перед началом работ
The cheapest way would be to have a grass slope….
This was purely aesthetic; the grass hill was fine. American boomers have so much money they literally pay someone to move dirt that doesn't need moving.
Based solely on what I saw in this video, that slope looked fairly gradual. What was the point of expenditures on the wall?
look up retasinging wall whats it for.
