Ive used both. For Fast jigging 6k and 8k TP SW PG hands down even better than stella for fast jigging imo. The rest type of fishing casting and bait fishing Certate SW 8K-H. Cerate feels way more solid and rigid when fighting big fish, no give or wiggles/play or feeling like the reel body is about to explode or bail breaking. 8k to 14k spool interchangeble in Certate. Limited in newer TP. Both serviced at a certified service center TP roller bearing needs replaced and more gunked in main gears. No issues with magseal bearings and minimal gunk in certates. If you like to service your own get a TP. If you have a Daiwa Service center near you and dont mind paying Certate for sure.
There a few things people need to know about magseal oil and the Zaion material: 1. It only suppresses water at a certain pressure. If the reel is dunked at a certain depth which can equate to a considerable pressure to overcome the magoil sealing, then the Shimano sealing will be much much more better. 2. The magseal oil on the roller vs on the main body has different consistency and Gauss rating (magnetic strength). The one on the roller has more magnetic strength to withstand centrifugal force because of rotational motion because of reeling. 3. After sometime, my Certate's rotor Zaion material started to flake and the plastic seal around it seem to bubble up. When I am not out fishing, I love to work on my reels. Shimanos for me. Slowly veering away from Daiwa because of Magseal stuff. The presented Certate here is a 2021 version.
@kallimmace1540 it will be released in 2 years. How shimano SW series works is once the normal/standard version of that reel releases, 2 years later, the sw version will be released.
Fished Saragosa’s for years and loved them for my purpose BUT I got a 6k sw certate for a steal and gave it a try.. the certate definitely felt better and smoother. I will say for me at least it’s hard to justify spending that money on a reel that’s going to get the hell beat out of it kayak fishing 😂
😮i love how daiwa's reel have interchangeable parts, I've been using a 2016 daiwa Bg 5000H (body) paired with a certate 8k spool and it works fine, if the price point of certate and saltiga is out of your budget you can get any reel with an MQ body but make sure they have the same body size and just buy the certate or saltiga's spool and drag knob, luckily for me i can find those parts here in Japan from those fishing thrift stores....😊😊😊
Thanks. I think that would be interesting. To get a better understanding of where the extra beef comes into play. I believe all three reels are ipx8, correct?
Just getting into lure fishing proper and just got a stradic 5000 and the difference in my old reel is wild, already looking for an excuse for an even higher end reel 😂🎉 so dumb
Beefy baitrunner imo. Spinfisher live liner or shimanobaitrunners. Wanting to try the diawa free swimmer next. Coming from a keys bridges fisherman who catches permit/grouper/ giant jacks on them.
The certate has the same gear in it as the tiga, the g1 duralumin gear, supposed to be the strongest gear on the market. Also, I don't understand shimano's "heat sink" drag, heat rises, it doesn't sink lol maybe I'm thinking about that wrong though and they're just saying it's a way to disapate heat
A heat sink is a piece of metal with high surface area (usually aluminum or copper) physically touching a source of heat. Because that metal is a great conductor it absorbs heat from the source very efficiently and because it has high surface area it has a high heat capacity and is more easily dissipated with the surrounding air. The position of the sink (being above or below) makes no difference in cooling performance as long as it has optimal airflow to dissipate heat quicker than it is saturated.
@stevejones9636 check out new Okuma Tesoro. I have been a Shimano fan for years, but decided to get a Tesoro 8000. I think this reel blows the Saragoso out of the water. Solid, smooth and built like a tank. Bitt heavy, but I am very impressed. Now just to see how it holds up over time. So far so good.
I had two of the new 24 certates 2500 and 3000 both developed a whirring sound before they were even fished took back the next day under warranty they were replaced with new one and the whirring sound came back after the first light fishing session on each real I took them back again and switched to the new twin power fe reels and they are way smooth even after 5 sessions it’s almost like they are dampened. I used to be a Daiwa reel owner but saw the light. The 2019 lt certates are way more smoother than the new 24 certates.
@ Have 4 Certate and haven’t had an issue ever (2 old 2 new). Way smoother and better casting than twin power. Daiwa>>>>> I hope you see the light someday. Of course, no argument when it comes to baitcasters, everyone knows Daiwa>.

Hard to beat that certate drag sound 🔥

I have both, can’t go wrong with either. For the people that want to purchase these reel wait one year for the new models to come out, if you can.
How sure are you that there will be a new twinpower next year?
@kallimmace1540 it will be released in 2 years. How shimano SW series works is once the normal/standard version of that reel releases, 2 years later, the sw version will be released.

Don't even mention Penn. Bought a Authority 5500 day before yesterday. Spooled it yesterday morning and it seized up while I was busy spooling it.
I am a shimano guy too. I have 2x twin power and 1x stella and 1x Surf Aero pro

Had both. Sold the twinpower. Daiwa certate is better👌💯
Get back to me in 12 months of hard fishing. Certates and their soft gears changed me from Daiwa to Shimano.
@darrenbutler1765 had it for 3 yrs now buddy. Never even needed service 👍💯
I've been a penn head for years and finally bought a 24Certate LT.
For me I have to say and go with Daiwa.
Certate SW has released 2024 models, looks like the siblings to the new Saltiga...looking foward the review and comparison of the new one
Would love to see a review of the new Daiwa Sol MQ. Tight lines 🎣
please do conventional reels more often
Decision is easy Daiwa Certate!!!
Would really appreciate a TwinPower SW VS TwinPower FE vs TwinPower XD comparison.
I’ll take a look at that! The sw doesn’t really fit the bill compared to the fe and xd though. The sw is much more heavy duty than both the xd and fe
Thanks. I think that would be interesting. To get a better understanding of where the extra beef comes into play. I believe all three reels are ipx8, correct?

G1 Duralumin drive gear, also shared with the 20 Saltiga. same as shimano stella use, because its stronger than brass
worth noting that the twinpower sw only has the heatsink in the 10000 and 14000 sizes
Shimano also has swappable size spools
Stella!!! , Heat Sink in the drag, Heat Sink in the spool, and Heat Sink in the frame👌
🔥🔥🔥 as always boys. Curious what your opinion would be for a spinning combo for skyway pier grouper fishing?
Beefy baitrunner imo. Spinfisher live liner or shimanobaitrunners. Wanting to try the diawa free swimmer next. Coming from a keys bridges fisherman who catches permit/grouper/ giant jacks on them.
@ never used a bait runner before but I’ve seen plenty of people use them. Might have to look into one
Im almost certain its an aluminium main gear with surface treatment in the twinpower.
certate 8000 sw and certate 14000 sw is same body? just different spool?
Just get saltiga. Melted twinpower drag cap and drag washers on a 100lb YFT
Dang! What size reel?
The 24 Certate SW is already on the market in Asia tho
Whats the difference between the Twinpower SW and Twinpower SW C?

Let me guess… You choose Shimano
🫡 got me
@ 😁
Why not let's see Shimano 10 years warranty on all reels daiwa shit box 1 year to 5 years what a bunch of garbage even okuma has 10 years lol

Daiwa dosen’t break 🦾
Daiwa always better, cope

Certate. Ive been fishing 5 certates in my lineup last year. My buddy ran 6 twin powers. The certates had 0 problems.
