The "quite cool" and not "leaving" them like this are the kind of quips for which I love your style. Great video! I porbably would use a darker starting tone instead of the strong washes, but I really like your take nonetheless.
I used to be like that too Peter, in fact my cabinet still has lots of minis that are painted really well but have crappy bases. It makes a HUGE difference though and your minis only look as good as the base they're standing on. A golden demon quality mini will look bad if its on a terrible base. Anyways, rant over! Thanks for watching! 😂
Freaking GREAT stuff dude!!! Absolutely love these bases. I'll be doing mine the exact same way. Im going to try and get the exact leaf hole punch you used if possible. What a great idea!!
Thanks Kenny!! Is there a particular store in the US you think I should look at for affiliate links? I've got NZ, Aus & UK covered but that's it. Cheers again for watching!
I'm using a green stuff roller as well and I'm quite happy with it, but your idea to copy the plastic ruins is really clever and the result looks ace👍 And consider the colour scheme of your bases stolen 😉
I love this basing scheme, but what would you suggest for mounted Gondor units with a bigger base? Would you still go for the cobblestone or do something more like grasslands?
How did you attach the bases to that stick you were using to be able to prime and paint several at once? I'm about to try and do some of my own the exact same way as is my younger brother
That is a great question and one you’ll probably need to ask again in several months time 😂 I’m really hoping that the alcohol will have killed any microbes and then like you say the sealant keeps them sealed. We shall see 😬
Loving the channel! These bases are amazing! Never worked with blue stuff and milliput before, did you need to wet the mold before putting the base with milliput in? Did you have to leave the base in the mold until it had set or press firmly and peel off?
Woo happy new year. The leaves take the cobblestone bases to the next level. I think thats what I have been missing. How do you find the army painter washes I'm thinking of swapping from GW?
And to you mate! The army painter washes aren’t as rich as the citadel ones. But I do find them to be more reliable as in no issues with gloss or that annoying chalkiness you sometimes get.
@@dicedrinksanddadjokes it is! Thank you! Will made it along with the other retro style graphics that’ll be on more of our stuff soon. Also your video quality is getting better every video man! They’re a joy to watch - Boone
As I bought the Osgiliath-box a couple weeks ago, I'm thinking about how to create bases with an Osgiliath-feeling. This Video helped a lot. I really love the idea with these tiny leaves instead of grass tufts.
I want you to know that I did almost everything you did in this video and am so appreciative for the guide, my gondor soldiers look great!!
Thank you so much for your kind words! It means a lot to know that my guide made a difference for you. Your Gondor soldiers deserve all the glory!
@@dicedrinksanddadjokes Their glory is because of your guidance. Thanks again!
@@GeoffreyBronson no worries at all man! Hopefully they roll good dice haha!
Love this technique! I’m definitely going to try it out for my Gondorians. I also enjoyed your background music and the “it’s quite cool” haha
Thanks Jacob, glad you enjoyed it! Good luck with your noble sons of Gondor 😁

Using real leaves for leaves is genius. Im gonna try this
Haha thanks man, I have rare moments! Good luck with your leaves 😁
great vid, loved how you showed us every detail of making the base and what products you used. I am about to start my minas tirith army now. Thanks
Thanks for the kind words Josh! I'm glad you enjoyed it, good luck with your Minas Tirith army 😊
Brilliant tutorial as always and will definitely be picking up some of the leaf punches for some foresty themed army's for 2023 👍
Thanks Colin! Glad you’re enjoying them 😁
This is really cool Adam, I must pay more attention to my bases, it's the bit I never spend enough time on!

Nice job on these, I look forward to seeing more of this army, painting and gameplay!
Thanks! This certainly won't be the last time they make an appearance 😁
Stunning bases Adam. Love them.

Looks great, I'm considering the leaf cutter idea for some Lothlorien bases.
Yeah great idea, perfect for Lothlorien 😁
Great tutorial adam. I think I need some blue stuff so I can give this a try for my own minas tirith troops.
Yes do it! It’s super easy. I did the same thing with my ork Kommandos for kill team except with scrap from the octarius terrain.
I'm using a green stuff roller as well and I'm quite happy with it, but your idea to copy the plastic ruins is really clever and the result looks ace👍

I like the way you make leaves. Very cool video.
Thanks buddy 😁
Amazing tutorial thankyou so much!
One question, what size drill bit do you tend to use when drilling the feet?
A tiny one haha! Just big enough to fit a paper clip.
The bluestuff idea is genius! Wish I saw that video earlier :D
Just start a new army! 😂 Thanks for watching dude!
@@dicedrinksanddadjokes Well, that's about to happen, want to make a Rangers of Ithilien army seperate from my main MT army :D

Thank you! Totally up to you of course, personally I like an army to have the cohesion of matching bases so would keep to the same for mounted units.
Loved the video 😁
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Nice vid mate! ive tried doing this before a couple of times and it hasnt worked out great. Might have to try again with some of the tips!

Great video Adam! Quick question, does the leaf litter not decompose, or is it offset by PVA/Varnish?
That is a great question and one you’ll probably need to ask again in several months time 😂 I’m really hoping that the alcohol will have killed any microbes and then like you say the sealant keeps them sealed. We shall see 😬

What do you think about texture paper to do this kind of bases?
Yeah that’s another way to create interesting effects 😊
Fantastic mate
Thanks James!
How important is pinning? Could I get away with just superglue?
The pinning adds strength, you could get away with not pinning them just be aware that a bit of rough handling may cause them to break off.
Really cool
Thanks!
Good stuff!!
