Thnks, Griz! Neat-O! The tracked rigs sounded like they were running 2-cycles, the old GM/Detroits and the last rubber tired one looked like a recovery vehicle with the short coupling and boom/hook over the back. That was FINE! I drove mainly 5-tons when I was in besides all the heavy stuff but no moving foxholes. Thanks again!
Thanks Lewie the last one a Scammell were used mainly to haul heavy guns in the second world war....many were then used foe vehicle recovery when sold on to civvy street
@@grizzly9871 I've watch some videos of the Scammells from years gone back and they were tough rigs. I'm not a brand name freak. If it works then it's good enough for me.
@@grizzly9871 Quite. I was asked to move it around Shoreham airport from one compound to another. As I approached where I was going, I put it in first, got out, walked up to the gate, opened it, walked back, got back in and then drove it through the gate in a higher gear.
This was really special, great to see all the old vehicles in action
Thanks...yeah it is good to see them working

I've driven a 1944 Scammell recovery truck once. Not built for comfort on long journeys.
I remember having a ride in one when I was about 10yrs old....noisy as well
