I only live 865 miles away from Temple Baptist Church, but I’m too poor to be able to afford to go there for a few days lol, but 28:37 😢I absolutely LOVE Pastor Charles Lawson!!! He’s the only one that can deliver the message, he is the very best Pastor I have ever seen and I know that one day soon we can all be together in heaven talking about it and meeting EVERYONE!!! My wife and I watch every service on vimeo live stream including the Sunday school and we have been doing this for 8 or 9 years now. We even visited the church in 2018 but are no longer able to travel that far for health reasons because we live in Eastern North Carolina and we are both Disabled and it is a very long drive. I pray that Temple never stops posting it's services online because that truly would be very disappointing to us because we are Blessed by all the teaching and preaching and singing!

I agree with practically everything Charles Lawson teaches and I support him wholeheartedly. However he is wrong about the Bible not saying anything about loving yourself because Jesus said "Love your neighbour as yourself" (Mark 12:31) - how can you do this rightly if you don't love yourself rightly? Loving yourself doesn't mean being narcissistic and pandering to your flesh, it means treating yourself as God would treat you and that includes tough love (self discipline) and keeping yourself in line with God's Word, encouraging yourself in the faith and not putting yourself down or hating yourself (we have the devil to do that!).

It won’t be His teachings that will save you, it will believing in Him and the work He did on the cross, otherwise known as the Atonement. Some people want to focus just on what He taught, and reduce Him to a moral example of how to live. The look at John 14:6 as meaning He was the ‘Way to live’, not the only way to heaven. They totally miss the immensity of His mission. They neglect His vital role as Savior. The salvation package must include belief in the divine Savior, along with obedience of what He taught. If Jesus wasn’t the Son of God, His death wouldn’t have been sufficient to satisfy the justice and wrath of God for our sins, and no one would be going to heaven. Only through His divine blood are we worthy. Hebrew 9:12-14 “he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.” He was the only person who could have saved us by being sacrificed as our ransom…and He was! That’s how special the atonement was. His teachings are indeed important, but if He didn’t die for our sins, and rose again, they don’t matter. 1 Corinthians 15:17 “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.”

I will not Consent
The Bible indirectly tells you to love yourself by telling you to love your neighbour as yourself. This isn't a prideful kind of self love where you look down on others and are puffed up, but rather it's simply recognising you're a being made in the image and likeness of God, and therefore taking care of yourself mentally, physically and spirtually. The command tells us to extend that same love to others that we have for ourselves, because you cannot give what you do not have. If a person has no self value or self respect, they're not going go be able to extend love to others. You first have to recognise you bear God's image before you're going to see others as image bearers. The Bible only speaks against a perverted form of self love that is arrogant, proud, puffed up and looks down on others. A self love that sees itself as equal to God, but it does not speak about a normal and healthy self love. Great sermon by the way. Agreed with everything else. Just thought that part needed more clarity, because the command to love your neighbour AS yourself, is directly telling you that you should love yourself and extend the same love you have for yourself to others. Only loving yourself is sin, but extending the same care to others as you do to yourself isn't sin.

@@EmmaMarie7 Satan only loved himself. He didn't love the other angels as himself when he caused them to fall from Heaven with him. Did you even read the context of my comment? Obviously not. Nothing I said is unbiblical. Jesus says to loves others AS yourself, which is putting others first, but it obviously involves love of self as far as one's own wellbeing goes. How can you love others AS yourself if you have no love for yourself in any sense? Every time you take a bath, take care of your health, etc you are loving yourself. The Bible doesn't speak against that anywhere, rather it only commands to extend that same love to others. The Bible only speaks against pride, and only loving yourself, not loving others as well as yourself. The view that any kind of self love is bad is unbiblical and over pious, which is rooted in pride. You can't be fearfully and wonderfully made and made in the image and likeness of God, then reason you should have no love for yourself in any sense. Even God has love for himself within the Trinity. When the Father loves the Son, God is lovimg God, since both are equally God. God is love and he extends that love outwardly towards his creation. God created us to love and take care of ourselves, but also commands us to project that love outwardly to others.
@@pitbullw2350 I have no idea of what your point is here. It's really simple. The greatest commandment is to love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. The second isn't to love your neighbor, but rather to "Love your neighbor as yourself". Your neighbor is people in general. You are a person made in God's image, therefore you are to love others as yourself. You are not excluded from that love. Love is only selfish and evil if it's only directed at self at the exclusion of others. Nothing is being taken out of context. Jesus literally commands for us to love others in the same way we love ourselves. that is what "as" means here.

My grand ma (1880), my mom (1908), and my dad (1906) were holy ghost filled and Dad was a preacher and started many churches in the South in the 20th century. He and mom went to bible school and college in Cleveland Tennessee. They all would have approved of Rev. Bro. Charles Lawson. (So do I. I went to UTK Knoxville in late 70s-early 80s!
