Greeting ghouls and ghosts! Our names are Jason and Kali, and we are the horror couple of your dreams- or nightmares! Jason has been a film nut for over 30 years, and Kali has a hyper-fixation with horror and slashers. Together we spend most of our waking life watching films and obsessing over them. We record movie reviews and discussions weekly, and love watching and talking about both lesser known and popular films in the horror genre. I loved how they still managed to tell a small emotional human story amidst the big chaos. This could have been an easy generic action movie cash grab but they told a personal story instead. I love that.

This was great! The sound design - as with all these films - was top tier, the cinematography was great, the aliens had a nice amount of screen time but the real focus here was Sam’s personal reckoning with her quality of life. Lupita absolutely owned this role. She did an amazing job of conveying raw emotion that really hit home. The city setting worked perfect too, and I agree about the cat serving as a symbol of hope. This was actually my favorite of the franchise

I for one was disappointed. I just didn’t really connect with the characters and I wanted to so badly. I wanted to care about them and their story. I wanted more time on that story and destruction of New York. I was disappointed that so much of the film was just “going around and trying to be quiet and not alert the monsters” (and then the monsters get alerted). It’s so repetitive. Same issue I had with the second film. The first film maximized the premise and these two sequels just haven’t done it for me 😔
