If you had the energy, you could compare a Howard story to a Thomas adaptation?
It may also be that Conan lends itself to visual presentation, and it's not all Thomas so much as Smith and Buscema?

Also, I have a "Solomon Kane Matters" Tshirt that would beg to differ. He's awesome, but yeah, *of course* Conan is the signature character.
That's like saying that Professor Challenger is Arthur Conan Doyle's signature character.

Reading the comics sounds great. Between you and MKV, it will give us a different perspective on Conan. My comics are long gone. I’ll be reading the Del Rey editions on my kindle.

I'll be reading the del Rey books. I was introduced to Conan by the comic books, but then I read the 12 Lin Carter/L. Sprague de Camp books as a teenager.
