Its necessary to impose boycott against Iran.
I think India should adopt the policy as they adopted in the case of Russia . Be neutral. We have to think what is good for us . Iran is important country for us so do Israel .We have to request both the countries to be calm and start dialogue to resolve the issues.
I strongly believe we should show some spine and impose sanctions on Iran , this is the least we can do for all the help Israel has done to us and is continuing to do so in multiple sectors such as our defence, technology, employment, high yield agriculture for our farmers and nation, etc....
Remember Iran has betrayed us in oil exploration deal with ONGC and is very close to China.
If we want others to stand with us in our difficult times, I believe we should also help them( specialy our most trustworthy and closest friend - Israel).

India should be standing with Israel no matter what it was Israel and Russia who stood by India against the world in 1971 war.
India has always maintained the stand that we do not support/endorse unilateral sanctions and we have sufficient historical instances to back this.
India should reiterate the same with the same old language of ‘both sides should exercise restraint… dialogue & diplomacy…’
Even if we are to take sides this time, the current stage of conflict is too early to do that.
