The Hitachi Escalator Ripout [PART 1-The Demolition]

This escalator is located at the Sutter Square Galleria Center in Sacramento, CA. Those who have been subscribed to this channel for a while have probably seen my video of this escalator. (If not, here's a link to the original video: • [REMOVED] EXTREMELY RA... ) This was an extremely rare Hitachi escalator that sadly wasn't maintained. It has sat idle for most of its life, and I've only seen it working a few times. Eventually, it broke, and it was too hard to find replacement parts to fix this escalator. It was also too much money to maintain any further. As a result, they decided it was time to remove it. Pac West Elevator Company was hired to do the ripout, and I was there to document the whole process. A HUGE thank you goes to them for saving me tons of parts from this escalator and for allowing this video to be possible. This video covers the full demolition process. We also get to see this escalator move for one last time before the power was cut. Enjoy this very rare and special video!

Hitachi escalators are well built imo, they dominated the Elevator and escalator market back in the 80's in Indonesia (and later Goldstar from S.Korea, they're based on Hitachi too)
