Also, Abhijit's perspective on various National and International issues are much more nuanced than most experts in his domain.
He just has an extremely honest and blunt style when it comes to stating it.
Most of his views are too progressive to be considered truly "right-wing".
The bar for being labelled "right-wing" for some people in our Country is so low that it's absolutely insane 🤦♂️

This Iyer guy is totally wrong.
India was never respected until very recently.
I have lived in USA for 20 plus years and I have seen India referred to disparagingly as a "third world" country, the word "third world" being a euphemism for "third rate".
The IT revolution of the 90s did not bring much respect though gave India more visibility. Indian cheap IT workers were looked upon as people who were taking away American jobs and disgusted many Americans for the low wages they were accepting for the job which an American would demand 2 or 3 times the wage.
India's new respect in the last 10 years comes from a clear cut forceful foreign policy under the F.M Dr Jaishankar as well as the rapid strides in economic growth that is pushing this natio to become the 3rd largest economy by 2027.
India being the "Vishva Guru" is a futuristic idea. Today, it cannot claim that title.
Wrong ..we are still referred to as the third world..and he is especially talking about diplomatic and bureaucratic channels ..it doesn't matter how the public or the media views us

We are NOT even close to 1/10th of Chinese infrastructure or wealth. The west only respects power, so, no we aren't treated any better than before. Abhijit is right in this case.

Just one point about indian diaspora in USA- in 1971, there was hardly any diaspora, and was living under the radar. After the IT boom, the diaspora became numerically and financially prominent-which reflects in the number of CEOs in the corporate sector
