Slip the lever into Manual then it does not hunt along the range and it is fun to select the right ratio yourself. You can have the pedal floored and the ratios will still follow when you select a rotio up or down. Huge fun.
I'm getting my gas model Corolla Cross in a few weeks and wanted to hear other owners' experiences with it. As I expected, the value is undeniable. Even more confident about my pick now. Thanks for this review, Louie!
I can't tell you how much I love this car. This is a great choice and for the money it's a steal. Big, comfortable, utilitarian, good mileage, and simple/dependable. Any complaint I had has been easily overcome and/or ignored.
Your drive was enjoyable. I was following along on a second screen on a map. I used to love it up around Ramona and haven't been there in years. Thanks for the trip.
💯 to you Louie. I hope to visit California 1 day ! Sure looks beautiful on the drive you had. I see some are talking about a lease car here. I not one for a lease unless your getting to write it off on you taxes. But nice looking car and good to know it can handle the country back roads . Toyota is a great value for the dollar . We own a highlander ourselves. Thx as always man appreciate the demo and the rundown on number and value. 💯 best of the day to you.
Looks like you live in a nice place. Beautiful scenery while you drive. Enjoy your new car. I had a Geo Prizm/Toyota Corolla years ago, and it was a nice car. There were not many cars around when I had to buy a new car due to someone driving into me, so I ended up with a Nissan Kicks SV. It has all the safety features of expensive cars (and all the sensors work beautifully) and black alloy wheels. I've had it a year and eight months, and I like it fine. I know there are a lot of Nissan haters out there. However, I don't have to go up mountains, so I don't mind what everyone calls a "lack of power." I'm on the flat plains. Everything works great on the car, and it, too, was inexpensive to purchase. It is nice to see the Corolla Cross options and how the car functions if I do have CVT problems down the road and want to switch. Many people on UA-cam says they've had no problems with their Kicks.
What did you think of the automatic start/stop engine feature? I’m not keen on it and turned it off during my test drive. I took out the Toyota Corolla Cross L yesterday as a matter of fact. It’s first time that I have driven one, although I’ve been looking for several years now. I debated whether I wanted to go with a hybrid, but ultimately have decided that I’m not sure that I do. As a matter of clarification, I live in Ontario, Canada. The features that you mentioned sound pretty much standard to what I had in the one I drove. It has the Safety Sense 3.0, but I was also surprised to find out that it did not have the blind spot monitoring. Mind you I have never had it on any vehicle that I’ve driven and I am not sure that I would like it? I’m just not so sure that it would give me a reasonable amount of warning compared to what I’m used to with the convex mirrors that I use on all of my vehicles now. The sales person told me that it comes in the next model up, which would be the LE. Along with several other options that I’m not so sure I’m interested in. I’m definitely not interested in the sunroof. Not only the cost but potential leaks and other issues with maintenance that I’m aware of. I have owned or leased 10 Toyotas over the past 30 years and I made it very clear to the sales person that I would not be paying MSRP and would be expecting a reasonable discount for my long and continuous patronage of Toyota. I also told him that I would not be paying the 6.79% interest that they are currently charging for financing and or lease. I told him that I would expect to pay no more than 2.99% on either one if I decided to go that route. Fortunately, I do have the cash that I could buy the car outright, but mine is currently invested at around 5% and if I can get a lower rate for finance/lease, then that would be a route that I would go and consider buying out the lease at the end of three or five years, depending on what I was to take out . I didn’t talk money with him this time around because I wanted to give him some time to think about what I told him. I’m in the fortunate position where I do not have to buy a new vehicle. My current Toyota is 10 years old and is in new condition, and only has 102,000 km on it. Approximately 63,000 miles. I was looking to get something just a little bit larger to accommodate the travelling that I’ve been doing recently with my grandson which would make it just a bit more comfortable for both of us. I know that you did not try the cruise control or the lane. Keep assist?. I did but I did find out that they both have to be on in conjunction with each other apparently. You can turn off the lane. Keep assist after if you’re not used to it or don’t need it or not comfortable with it I suppose. I tried them both And it wasn’t too bad for the little short drive that I took. It wasn’t aggressive or over correcting aggressively. The one thing I did notice compared to my current Toyota is that the cruise control does not engage unless it’s over 50 km/h or 30 mph. Currently I use my cruise control quite often in the city at speeds of 40 to 50 km/h just to maintain my speed and watch out for those pesky speed radar cameras that we have in our area. All in all, I enjoyed your video review and I certainly enjoyed my test drive to the point where I was seriously consider the Corolla Cross. Unfortunately I think that I’ll be in a position where I will wind up with a 2025 model year because of their current inventory situation. He is telling me to order one now would take anywhere between 4 to 8 months.
Hi: that’s nice that you took it for a test drive. To start off I would say that the start stop feature is extremely annoying. I have to force myself to remember to turn it off. If I forget, the first time it stops, I remember to do it. In regard to the cruise control and the lane centering, I believe it is second to none. I really enjoy it now that I know how to use it. I miss the Blindspot monitoring, but I was able to buy a couple of five dollar oval RV mirrors to put on the left and right side. I find I have complete visibility with those fisheye mirrors. But naturally, I’d prefer the Blindspot monitoring. i’m still very happy with my purchase. It’s a heckuva value at the price I paid. I don’t even mind the engine noise any longer. good luck in getting your best financing deal. You may want to review the lease options as well.
I was able to lease the LE for my daughter a few weeks ago for 309 a month with 3300 down. They didn't have a base LE on the lot, so the dealership had to eat the cost of a few options. She also received the 500 dollar college rebate. She loves it so far.
I was considering one of these or a plain corolla in my future. I ALWAYS come back to Toyota. One very important thing though, regular servicing is crucial for max engine life. Awork mate drives a toyota that has clocked over half a million km, but another drove his new hybrid rav4 through 800mm deep ford crossing and destroyed it to the tune of $27000 .
I didn’t know the base model had the digital speedometer. we got a pearl white 2024 L model fwd for my father. originally thought about getting a RAV4 , but the corolla cross is just a better size
I was thinking of possibly buying a Toyota model named Crown, but when i did a review on it and priced it, was way way overpriced, so i have to look somewhere else for a dependable reasonable automobile, if thats possible. Good luck in your purchase.
The base model Corolla Cross is the wise choice, even though Toyota's hybrid is solid after warranty your out of luck. No need for higher trim that dress up this vehicle, but the CVT is sluggish........
kia hyunda vw all wont last like a toyota will. when it comes to cvt transmissions toyota seems to be king, as well as king of general reliability as far as new cars go these days

Louie, respectfully, a lease is the worst way to get a car. 100% of that money, plus fees, will be gone along with your "rental" when it goes back to Toyota. Also, I didn't catch if you mentioned it, but you generally have to pay the dealer more fees to return the car when the lease is over. You saved ZERO dollars here, it's all expenses.
