Well I wasn't expecting much today, to be honest I haven't been confident or optimistic with Sunderland for a while now but that was much better today and a much needed win for confidence and moral, first 5-10 minutes I thought we looked nervous and making far to many mistakes and even then you're thinking it's gonna be another shocker incoming but to be fair to the lads once we got the penalty and went in front we played really well for the rest of the first half, we pressed Cardiff and forced them into errors which is something we haven't done for a long time so that was good to see, 2nd half I thought we sat back a bit to much at times and gave away a few to many free kicks but at the same time we still had really good chances on the break and probably should've won by more than 2 goals but it's 3 points and a clean sheet so happy days, in terms of performances I thought Ekwah and Neil played well, Aouchiche had a mixed game where he scored a penalty and got an assist but was a bit sloppy at times but to be fair to the lad he has started to improve lately and show what he can be so fair play, in terms of MOTM it's got to be Jobe, I have been very critical of him so far in 2024 but today he was absolutely outstanding, he's not a striker and it's still an area that needs addressing properly with experience and quality but while we don't have that striker, Jobe needs to remain as the false 9 for the rest of the season cos he works very hard in that role and does a hell of a lot more than what Burstow and Semedo does, the only negatives for me today was Ba was very frustrating, to be fair the lad worked very hard today but sometimes the lad can't even do the basics properly and at times looks like he's playing football for the very first time and finally I know we won and that's great but I still don't think Dodd's utilises his subs properly, Jobe worked so hard today and we need him between now and the end of the season and he should've come off with 10 minutes to go especially when we've got Blackburn on Monday and it still drives me crazy when we don't use all our subs but that's just me 😂, all in all very good day wasn't expecting but it's nice to get that winning feeling back, now it's all about building on this and trying to finish the season on a high and earn a little bit of pride, it's a massive summer ahead and this lot need to get it right cos watching that game today there is some talent there but to progress into a top 2 challenger or at the very least 6 we are crying out for 3 or 4 experienced quality players, if we get them then next season will be promising, I've still got my doubts about this lot but we'll just have to wait and see, it's going to be an interesting summer
Brilliant comment mate! I agree today was a massive surprise! Pressed from the front and it paid off. Jobe was tremendous today but I totally agree about the subs. They were never coming back into the game and we should have took Jobe off and even went two up front. I just wish that Hemir had stuck his chance away but we move onto Monday and hopefully can put in the same performance.
@@onlyfoolsandsafc aye it's a shame Semedo didn't get that goal but I suppose for the first time since the Southampton game at home he actually made a good run 😂

Quite honestly it was a result and performance I didn't think we'd get today but fair do's to the lads for their display, I only heard the radio coverage so I can't comment on individual performances but I was really pleased to see that Rigg and Aouchiche started and from what I could make out of the commentary both saw plenty of the ball and didn't let anyone down in any way, have we just seen the emergence of our new front man as well because it sounded to me like he did very little wrong in what is expected with regard to the position. Onward to Monday against Blackburn now with feet firmly on the gas and no excuses. 🔴⚪👏👏
Hi John, this game today is a one worth watching back. We were great from the outset. Pressed high and Jobe, Rigg, Neil, Ekwah and Aouchiche were brilliant. Let’s hope we can take that into Monday now 🔴⚪️🔴⚪️

Although I have not been impressed with Jobe up to now……it was his best performance by far in a SAFC shirt and I hope it continues. Ekwah was excellent. Adil supreme. O’Nien really makes a difference too. Bring on Blackburn!😅

I had a feeling that they were going to thump Cardiff today mate and I wasn't wrong. Even though I said a Dack hat trick (joking aside) I thought because they had nothing to play for for the remainder of the season but the shirt, they could have knocked five past them today, and nearly did. HA'WAY! Let's hope they can take this forward to the game on Monday! Happy Easter mate!

Hi Wayne - I wasn't confident about this game given that Cardiff were on a good run of wins, but it turned out to be a perfect day - everything's better when SAFC win. Hopefully this eased the relegation doom spiral fears. Jobe sounds as if he's open to playing as a striker/false 9 now, so I'd keep playing him up front - it's a no brainer and would be a game changer if it works out. If we'd signed him as a striker we'd be more than happy with his performances. We have good players, but it's a young team, so performance can be up and down, and injuries/suspensions/BCB/manager fiasco etc. must have impacted on the team. Excellent performance from Aouchiche who was handled badly by Beale after a couple of mistakes. Agree about Trai Hume - he has a great crunching tackle that manages to stay legal - pass to Aouchiche today was great. Dan Neil is excellent, everyone should know that already. Lots of other excellent performances as well,. There is a player in Ba. He's is far better playing on the right, but he's often played on left. Early in season when Roberts got injured he got a reasonable run of games and did really well on RHS. His value on Transfermarkt is now 3 million euros up from 1 million over this season, so he's worth at least double that. He's very frustrating at times, which is why he gets stick, but he's only 20 and there's a reason why he's regularly in the team even if out of position. Cheers. Jim
Hi Jim, Great comments as usual mate. It was a well deserved win today and hopefully we can carry that into Monday now. Ba needs to be more consistent and I don't think he knows where his best position is similar yo Jobe. Your right though he is still young and has time to improve and become more consistent.

We played well today we made Cardiff look poor I don’t think it was a penalty but I’ll take it but we’ve got Blackburn now on Monday. I would keep the same team. See what happens on Monday. Did anyone watch sky sports news with the results? Ian Beale was on thereand asked him about Sunderland and he said we needed experience players and said he can open his mouth now because he’s not Sunderland man anymore the last Sunderland manager said that we needed experience to pull up Love got sacked for it on Monday and see what happens
We really did mate. They’ve been on a good run too so it makes it an even better win. Yes I saw Ian Beale and it was the most sense he spoke in all his interviews.
I fancied 1-1 before the game. We should have won by more and now we have players coming back so maybe a decent end to the season and maybe try a couple of younger players
I was sitting with Southampton fans at St Marys a few weeks ago; one of them said to me "I can't understand what position Jobe is playing". I couldn't answer his question. To me It's totally bloody obvious Jobe is not a number 10 and how the meddler Speakman had him playing there in front of Alex Pritchard was madness. A centre forward Jobe may be but he needs guidance and support. This is just more evidence we desperately need a strong character as manager who knows something about both football and people. Fortunately, in amongst all the recent mess, we may just be finding our best number 10 in Aouchiche but I fear Dodds will be undermined much as Neil/Mowbray/Beale were.
Take Beale out of the equation as he's just totally fckin shit !!
They played brilliantly today and can't help saying I told you so for all the doubters and doom and gloom merchants . Pressing was first class and didn't allow Cardiff to settle into their style of play.

Course it was a penalty, rules of the game state if an attacker is fouled in the penalty area,a penalty should be awarded. Jobe was clearly pushed in the back inside the area !!!
