  • Hello coffee lovers and soap makers! This cold process coffee soap recipe is one of the most luxurious and lathery soaps I've ever made! Not to mention the gorgeous colour, the fragrance, and the fantastic combination of oils and butters in the soap.
    In this video I give a full, detailed tutorial of the entire process I use to make my cold process coffee soap using freshly brewed coffee. I also give an alternative method using instant coffee. Make sure you watch to the end to see the lather test!
    The full recipe details for this soap are here:

    • @OleanderStarr
      @OleanderStarr 2 роки тому +6

      @@angelinagarcia112 The % is actually really very helpful. If Elly were to use exact weight measurements then you might end up with more or less soap than you were hoping for. With using %, you can tailor the weight measurements for the amount of soap that you want. For example if a recipe called for 50% Olive oil, Elly might need 100 ounces for her mold, you may need 32 ounces for your mold and I may need 5 ounces for my mold. We are all using the same exact recipe but the amounts of each ingredient that we need are all different.

    I took a break from soapmaking for a couple years. It's so addicting!! I made enough soap for 3 years, and we're a family of 5! I miss it though. I'm planning on returning, but your videos were my "go to" videos for soapmaking. I've tried cold and hot process, and I loved them both. Something about using natural, fresh ingredients and also the satisfaction of making it yourself keeps me coming back. Thank you for sharing your videos with us. 🙏

    I use a very fine ground coffee and put it directly in my lye water solution. The heat "brews" the coffee. Then I add to my oils when the temp is right. I am happy with this method.

    I use my grounds for personal use as a substitute (instead of sugar) in a sugar scrub. I absolutely LOVE it for my summer feet! I work in a dusty, hot environment, and I live in flip-flops. My feet get very dry and rough in summer, but my coffee scrub sorts it right out. Plus, it smells phenomenal.

    I watched alot of coffee soap making tutorials and I think this is the best one so far, not only is the measurement in grams which I can easily understand but it also demonstrates the trace ability based on the oils. I formulated my own recipe with the similar ratios and oils except I don't have rice brand and it's interesting to see how it might possibly turn out. Simple but good recipe

    One for the men in the family, I love the smell of coffee but hate the taste. Thanks Elly, it’s a great looking coffee soap on my list to do. I’ve been using most of the ingredients in this recipe, with addition of castor & sweet almond and minus rice bran and coffee ,sure makes great soaps mind your pink and white soap has cured beautifully and wonderful to use too. My girlfriend loves it.

    First lemme express how much i love ur channel. Straight to the point with lots of tips, detailed explanation and above all you are so tidy and neat which makes watching ur videos seamless and comforting like watching ASMR for relaxation ❤
    Second, please help i have a dilemma
    I am new to soap making i have a problem with temperatures
    My recipe is:
    Olive oil 350g
    Coconut oil 150 g
    5% superfat
    71 g sodium
    190 g water
    All according to soap calculator
    First time i prepared it, the lye was cold ( i prepare it night before) when i mixed it it traced in 10 sec gave me false trace i poured and wasn’t able to cut before 48h cuz it was crumbling, the next day the bars started to crack on the surface. I tried repatching didn’t work i ended up throwing it away.
    Second time i tried, i brought oils to about 45 degree (testing by hand) and raised the lye temp by placing it in hot water container.
    The second the lye touched the oils it crumbled i kept stirring and started seeing translucent batches then liquid separated i assume it was lye it was lighter than oil. I ended up HP it and still waiting to cut.
    What am i doing wrong? Do i heat or not around coconut oil.
    Thank you very much in advance. ❤

    I also tried to instant Nescafe Gold ( Espresso) it worked well I added it at the end like you suggested I should have taking a picture but it's all wrap up so have to wait. Also the smell changed after the instant coffee was added the other fragrance add was hazelnut cappuccino. I hope it smells good in the end

    Made this very recipe this morning. Sped up my lye mix by placing stainless steel bowl in a chilled water bath while Sodium hydroxide was mixed into ice cubes. Worked like a charm about 2-3 minutes total. End temp was 95'F. Whisked only the emulsion & had an end of mix temp of 80'F. Added choc fragrance (10 g) & coffee fragrance (5 g) & a bit of cedar atlas (5 g) thought I'd try a mocha scent. It was cool & slow setting up so I did the warm oven trick for 5 hrs & just wrapped it in wool still only at 120'F. Trying not to peek for a good gel. 11 am tmrw moment of truth. It smells a bit strong now but Im guessing that will mellow over 4 weeks. Cant wait to cut it & see how it feels. I did add kaolin white, french green & red clay (3% combined of total oils- premixing by eye in a little oil) to deepen that nice rich brown color & it looks exactly like melted milk chocolate. Cant wait to see the extra fine grounds that came through my little french press strainer (a very fine silt - same as at the bottom of your cup). I put 3% sugar & 2% citric & 1.2% kosher salt & sodium lactate, & .7% vitamin E as the preservative. All of these I learned from Georges videos & I now structure all my recipes in that same format. This makes for a more uniform approach to the whole thing. My soaps are a hit with friends so far we'll sed how they like this 1. Thank you. Each batch becomes more gratifying. Next lemon myrtle w pink clay.

    This is my first try at making soap. I just knew that I had to make soap with coffee, lol. After buying all the ingredients and supplies, I'm very surprised that this stuff still works out to so be super affordable.
    Boy did I ever make some nice body butter with the left over shea butter and rice bran oil.

    This is interesting. The basic recipe without the coffee sounds like a great combination and the rich lather at the end is a lovely result. Definitely giving this a go! Cheers Elly! 👍

      Thanks Trisha, yes I was so pleased with it as it was my first go with that combination of oils/butters. I'll be making it again for sure. I'll stick with my castile soap in our dry winters, but this will be a great summer soap for me when the weather is hot and humid.

      Hi Elly...
      thank you for your willingness to share with thoes of us who's learning your craft.
      I made this soap, and it was really nice, but it was soft and airy.
      I used sea moss water for my water portion, I also used 2 ounces of sea moss gel.
      I wonder where I went wrong?
      Be blessed and stay prayed up.

    You are one of my favourite soapers and I love how you present your videos. Your instructions are simple and easy to follow, and your creations are always 😊exciting and fun to make.
    Thank you for not playing music over the top of your videos. My autistic brain can't understand what's happening when there is speech and music playing together. Xx

      Hi Jacqui, thank you so much for that feedback. I don't have any diagnosis but I suspect I might be on the spectrum too (super high masking!!). I can't watch videos with music and talking together either. One thing at a time is enough :)

    Thanks for this wonderful video Elly. I have been very quiet of late because my shoulder surgery from 8 weeks ago developed major complications and I had to unfortunately undergo further surgery again 4 days ago. Easy on the eye, easy on ear, lots of info to the brain. Big fan of your videos. Coffee soap in my agenda for a long time but postponed it because I don't use fragrance oil and coffee soap without the smell is bland.
    Thank you

    • @EllysEverydaySoapMaking
      @EllysEverydaySoapMaking  3 роки тому

      Thank you Pushkar. Yes coffee soap is a bit bland without fragrance. Have you considered adding benzoin resin? It has a nice vanilla-y fragrance that is the only natural one I'd use with coffee soap. If you can get it, might be worth a try :)

    • @pushkardivedula162
      @pushkardivedula162 3 роки тому

      @@EllysEverydaySoapMaking Thank you. Will certainly try benzoin resin. I read somewhere that benzoin holds the EO too from being too volatile.
