    Surprisingly quite reliable. Testing at each production stage. O.1 % claimed distortion. Very clear sound in it's day. Jimmy Hendrix featured one in an lp. My friend tried without success to buy.

    From memory the Stereo 20 was slightly simplified. T&D were said to be very unhappy at being copied. As someone pointed out , if so why publish in a magazine ? It was very typical to use published designs. Mullard and RCA. Dynaco being RCA. RCA happy to sell the parts. T&D was based on the H C Lin circuit of 1957 . Peter Baxendale made a big improvement which Naim used.

    What is bad about this amplifier is what makes it good. Some say it looks like a valve design in transistors. That made it sound like a valve design. Wharfedale Linton amplifier was cheaper and nice looking . It was the same basic design. Even the Teleton GA202 was a p partial clone. Tobey and Dinsdale in 1961 published a similar circuit.

      Wow - thanks for that, I didn't know that. There's a fascinating story on the web documenting someone's visit to the Leak factory. Sadly so few people respect industrial history.

      " Tobey and Dinsdale in 1961 published a similar circuit." To clarify:- it wasn't "similar" it was *identical* to the original Stereo 30 of *1963*, two years *later*. How can I put this.. Leak basically lifted the circuit wholesale.

    I'm having an issue with my DC fuse. It's blown and when I change it and power up it immediately blows again, any advice?

    • @audionautica6843
      @audionautica6843  Рік тому

      Yeah - the issue is not the fuse - probably something on the output stage has failed causing low resistance between power rail and ground, which is causing the fuse to blow. You will need to know about electronics to fix it, otherwise take it to a shop.

      Could also be capacitors.

      I have an AU-X11 which is quite a ways up from a 717, but I still have a soft spot for my Leak Stereo 70!
