Bought it and installed it. Head unit is easy, I tried to install the camera over the weekend and the instructions are little to none. If you have never installed a back up camera, I suggest waiting until tech support is standing by. Now I know how to do it and it is easy. The head unit is simple to operate and sounds great. The back up camera is also very nice. The whole package for little money! Working with CF is awesome!
John I am inquiring about the backup camera because that’s what standing between me and buying this product. Did you have to connect the radio to a reverse wire in your car for the camera to know you were backing up or did the system know automatically you were backing up?
Bought a car with this unit already in it. By far the best sounding unit I’ve ever had without having to add a bass cannon. I love bass, and this unit can drive stock speakers to their full potential. I’m seriously considering getting another unit for my wife’s suv.
Installing mine on a 2008 F-150 XLT. I have a few notes to share: 1. Camera: I use the camera came with the package for front instead of back and purchase a lift gate handle camera for the back. Instead of hooking to 12V power of the truck light, I sourced the power directly from the head unit itself. There were two 12V wired for front and rear camera. For the camera that came with this Boss set, I hooked up the red cable (which is normally hooked up to the truck light power source) to the red cable next to the AV plug. The AV Video plug end that connects to the camera input on the head unit also had a little red wire next to it. I wired this wire to one of 12V front/rear camera wires coming out off the head unit. So, same approach for both front and rear cameras. I did not hook the reverse signal wire to the truck at all. The cons of this approach is the unit does not automatically know when the truck is in reverse drive. So, to see the camera video, I have to click on it on the screen. Remember to go into settings to turn on the camera power for the front, or back, or both in order to have the 12V power. One complain is for the Metra mounting kit. I have to saw off the mounting hooks in the back of the brackets to be able to slide the head in. Also, the frame was not big enough to fit the open. I can still behind of the dash from an angle view.
Just installed one on my brother's 2010 rav4 last weekend. Only complaint he has is when he shifts from reverse to drive, the radio goes back to the home screen instead of back to Android auto. Is there anything that can be done about this? It's a very small issue and he's not too concerned about it, but it's also what lead me to this video.
I could not find a setting mentioned in the manual to adjust this and suspect it may be the normal operation of the receiver. If you purchased it from us, we give lifetime technical support with the purchase and suggest calling them before calling it done. We include their toll free phone number on the order invoice.
@@1eb I wouldn't say too late. He still has the car, he may or may not have found this by now but I will pass along the information! Thank you very much.
@matthewbrayton8166 Hoping somehow you read this late response. I recently did this install for a family member (brother as well), and this was driving me crazy more than it was him. There is a firmware update that fixes this issue I am happy to say, but it is not listed on the product support/product profile page on the Boss website. I only found out about it by calling them and asking about it, and they emailed me the URL. I tried posting it in the comments field here but no luck. I really hope this helps, and you end up seeing this!
I had a friend install this into my 2010 Honda CRV-LX and I love it. My only issue is that he said that my vehicle didn't have the correct wiring to allow for the rearview camera to be automatically turned on when I shift into reverse. If I am on a phone call, I can't switch to the rearview camera app from Carplay which can be annoying. Can you tell me if my friend is correct or was he in error?
Any vehicle can provide a reverse gear trigger so a radio will automatically bring up a backup camera display. Often, it is a matter of finding the correct wire to connect the receiver's trigger wire onto. We recommend contacting technical support for help locating that wire in your vehicle. If you purchased your receiver from us, we recommend contacting our technical support for help. We send their phone number on the order invoice. If it was purchased elsewhere and they cannot help, we recommend contacting Boss' support for the help.
Your friend is wrong, I just installed this unit in a 2010 CRV a few weeks ago. All he had to do was take the power and ground from the camera, ground the ground and tap the red power wire into the reverse light circuit and then run that to the reverse cam trigger wire on the radio harness, then no matter what screen you are on with the radio as soon as you go into reverse it will dim the volume and display the picture from the back up cam automatically.
I found a software update on the Boss Audio site but there arent any instructions that I can find on how to do the update... is it done through USB or SD... does the medium need to be formatted NTSF or FAT-32?
Installed this in my 2003 Passat. Works great only question is when I shift into reverse should the screen automatically show the camera? Mine doesn’t unless you click camera on the screen
This radio does have Reverse wire that it uses to detect when the vehicle is in reverse gear so it automatically displays the image for a backup camera. It sounds like that wire may not be properly connected in your vehicle and we recommend contacting technical support for help. If you purchased your gear from us, we recommend contacting our technical support. We include their toll free phone number on the order invoice. If it was purchased elsewhere and they cannot help, we recommend contacting Boss' technical support for the help
Got one for my Honda Civic - works fairly well, but the only issue I have is the backup camera. The picture is EXTREMELY dark, and I can't seem to adjust the brightness of it. Also, it has a tendency to intermittently go offline. Any way to fix that?
I could not find any mention about settings to adjust the video from the backup camera. It's possible to dim only the camera if the dimmer wire on the radio was installed in such a way that it also becomes active when the vehicle is switched into reverse. I recommend contacting technical support to make sure it was properly installed. If you purchased it from Crutchfield, I recommend contacting our support for this help by calling their toll free phone number found on the order invoice. If it was purchased elsewhere and they cannot help, I recommend contacting Boss' support for help
I really like the Boss BE7ACP-C receiver and backup camera package, that was installed in my 2015 Mazda 6. I have only one complaint. Once I have the volume where I want it, IF I turn off the car and come back later, I have to turn it back up to the previous level. I usually have Android Auto connected, but even if it isn't and I'm just listening to bluetooth streaming, I have to turn the volume back up. Is there say to set a 'base level' volume, so that when I turn it on, the volume will start at that level? No, it is not a critical issue, the system works great, but that is the one thing that annoys me.
The owner's manual does seem to indicate there is a Volume section in the settings menu and references default volume for all the sources. You may be able to set it from the Audio part of the Settings menu
We do not carry the 9700 but looking at the specs Boss lists for it, it seems very comparable. The Boss BE7ACP does add the front camera input and SD card slot.
Had Crutchfield install this in my 2007 Dodge Magnum. Great job, looks and works great. I have one problem/question: Is there a way to reverse the view from the backup camera. It shows objects that are actually on the driver's side on the passenger side. I've looked through the owners manual but don't see any way to switch this. I may have unintentionally hit the wrong selection and caused this myself.
So glad to hear that! Go into the camera settings and turn "Rear Camera View" Off, if that doesn't work do a hard reset of the head unit using the button on the bottom left corner by the SD card slot. The blue loop on the camera determines whether or not the image is inverted (upside-down or right-side-up), this wire does not flip the image horizontally. If that still doesn't fix the problem, your invoice will have the tech support phone number on it, give us a call and we'll be happy to check into it!
I installed it in dodge caravan but for steering control. I couldnt find where to connect that wire in headunit. What wire did you connect it to(coming from idatalink)?
We got this installed professionally and I love the set up the screen seems super dark. Is this a normal problem? We have the brightness settings all the way up...
Just had it installed and it doesn't receive phone calls directly while in either bluetooth or CarPlay. The call is received on the phone rather than thru the unit. The factory backup camera works well with the adapters from Crutchfield. Sound is good. Will have to call support. Not so happy just yet. 2010 Prius.
This receiver is supposed to let you answer phone calls through its interface to play through the vehicle allowing you to remain handsfree. Since it is not working properly, we recommend contacting technical support for help troubleshooting this issue. Their toll free phone number is on the order invoice
Is there a way to remove the “check surrounding area” notification on the head unit? Seems like it takes up 25%~30% of the view when in reverse, and is bright yellow which kinda draws my attention there instead of my surroundings 😬
@kennethedwards8834 Yes, cut the white looped wire on the camera itself. This also removes the camera "hard" parking lines, but you can always use the ones from the head unit itself.
@@crutchfield Yes, cut the white looped wire on the camera itself. This also removes the camera "hard" parking lines, but you can always use the ones from the head unit itself.
Thanks for the video. Just installed this and was wondering if when the gear shifter shifts into reverse is the camera supposed to turn on or does the camera button on the screen have to be touched to connect the camera?
It is possible to install this receiver so that it automatically brings up the backup camera when shifting into reverse. It has a reverse wire that is used to detect when the vehicle goes into reverse so this can happen.
I just purchased the BE10ACP-C, and I was wondering If I connect the red and white wire labeled rear camera power from the Boss Unit, will it send power to the camera and LEDs any time you press on the camera option on the home screen, or camera will be powered all the time?
There is an option in Settings to turn on both FRONT CAMERA and REAR CAMERA functions allowing you can choose REAR CAMERA and FRONT CAMERA as you please. This is mentioned on page 25 of the owner's manual and seems to indicate that if you turn on this setting, the camera will be getting power all the time because you are turning on this function or this ability. A copy of the owner's manual can be found on our web site with the link to download it found in the What's in the Box section of this web page: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/p_104BE10ACC/item.html
We do have interfaces that can be installed with this receiver which would allow those steering wheel radio controls to operate this Boss radio. Our online vehicle fit guide is designed to help get the correct installation parts with the radio which does include the parts to retain those controls. You can find our vehicle fit guide here: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/car/carselector.aspx
Mines came crooked a lil bit, it only can go up and down but there is a screw on top of the camera I wonder if I loosing it up would it allow be to actually rotate to be atraight
The manual for the camera does indicate that camera's mount can be adjusted. And that is a different term from the one used as the main mount that holds it all onto the vehicle. I think it will work and recommend giving it a try. If it doesn't work, just line it all back up like it was and tighten the screws down.
I noticed in your video the reverse camera screen doesn’t have the big yellow bar on top that says “check surroundings before proceeding” this obstructs a good portion of my camera view and I would really like to get rid of it.
Hi there. You said the panel buttons light up in blue, but Boss's website says that it has multi-color illumination options. Can I change the button colors to red if that's the predominant illumination color in my vehicle?
I also have the same question... don't look like they've answered it. Or did you find out some other way? I'm definitely not to sure about it if it only does blue and my tacoma has orange lighting
Just installed this a about 2 months ago and I just got the courage to connect the braking wire for android play but why won't UA-cam or Spotify show up
The Android Auto interface does not work with UA-cam but does work with Spotify and that app should be showing up on the radio as long as its installed onto the phone. I understand you are not seeing it so something must not be working right. We recommend contacting technical support for help. If you purchased it from us, we recommend contacting our support using their toll free phone number that we included on the order invoice. How can I get it to automatically go into the backup camera when I’m in reverse? I have it wired to the reverse light but in order to see the camera I have to click the camera app
Nice video, but how do you intstall a front cam and connect it to this unit? I has 2 inputs for camera's, but no info on how to set up a dash cam that will work with this unti. Thanks for any help. Randy
Hi Randy, thanks for reaching out. The BE7ACP does not have an input for a dash cam; but you can connect and view a front mounted camera. Would you like help choosing one?
Probably the way it was worded. Says you can use a Front Camera as well as a reverse camera . I unfortunalely asummed you meant Dash Cam when speaking of a Front Camera. No worries, I will pickup up a dash cam. One other thing I ordered a rp5-gm11 interface package which is noted to work with the Boss radio and my vehicle. Very little information on how to hook it all up.
Thanks, Randy. What is the year, make, and model of your vehicle? Keep in mind, if you got the radio/'wiring here, you can call our Tech Support for installation assistance. Their direct number is on your invoice.
Hi Randy, our techs did take a look at the Boss BE7ACP. If you have a dash cam with a standard composite video output, you could connect it to the front input. However, this input has to be manually selected from the head unit's touchscreen each time and it does not get retained after a power down.
Bought a 2004 Ford Expedition with it already installed… had been working fine for a few months but now won’t turn on. Is it possible just the fuse on the radio itself is blown?

I have a question, if I plug my cable into the apple carplay/andriod auto usb, does it still charge my phone, or do I have to choose between charging my phone or using apple carplay
Just Installed this unit in my 2017 WRX. I had to modify the aftermarket bezel since the radio would not fit correctly with or without the trim. The steering wheel interface does not work properly. I do need to use the second dip switch setting to see if it works. The oem rear view camera works but the picture is grainy compared to the stock unit. The in or external amp option does not work right. I have two amps and they dont work with the external settings enable.

The receiver does have a control that will allow a connected backup camera to be displayed without having to be in reverse (helpful for towing like you mentioned). The backup camera must be able to get power even when the RV is not in reverse for this to work.
I ordered mine for my 05 Yukon XL with Bose sound... Paid for ready connect because I also got the adapter for steering controls, which made my install super fast. I'm curious to know if there's a way to turn off the display while driving specifically @ night. Looked on the manual but couldn't found anything.
We also cannot find a mention of that ability in the manual. It appears this receiver does not have the ability to turn off its screen continue to work.

My truck already had a back camera I hdd the stereo shop to hook up my boss stereo to the factory camera it looks like a fish bowl the guy at the stereo shop said the aspect ratio is off we need to find out how to change the aspect ratio in the boss radio. Do you know how?
The owner's manual does not mention anything about an aspect ratio setting that can be adjusted in it. There are radios that do have the aspect ratio adjustment. We would be happy to recommend an alternative. What vehicle is the radio being installed into? What are the other abilities you would like in a new stereo?

Does the camera input support the stock camera? I already have a backup camera installed but I want to know if it supports the input that came stock in my car or if I have to buy another one.
Thanks for your reply. Tip for consumers. If you contact the customer service representatives of the shops on Alibaba and AliExpress, and supply them with pictures of parts you require, or the serial numbers on the stickers, you can buy replacement electronic parts for nothing. Near everything comes from China, and if they are not the original manufacturer they are making a replacement anyway. After failing to get a picture or specs for what I need in this case (lazy way), I removed the unit from the car again and removed the screen, sent a picture to a couple of factory shops. This one costs $8. I have been able to repair computers and appliances that people threw away, or were quoted hundreds of dollars to repair, for less than a dollar sometimes. It is just a matter of talking to them to get what you need.

It sounds like you are using an amp that has a remote level controller connected to this receiver. so my buddy ordered this for his 2012 jeep patriot. he has know clue what hes doing when it comes to most things, this including electronic installation, and is also extremely impatient and couldnt wait 3 days for me to be free and do it. after video calling me 100 times he thinks its connected correctly, i have no clue cuz its not physically in front of me however the issue that has came up is his car has no back up camera and he doesn't want or need a back up camera when the unit starts it gives him an error message about the back up camera having no signal. i told him to ground the signal off which he says he did but its still giving him the error. has anyone encountered this issue and know how to bypass the back up camera. because i cant really see this unit just not working with out a back up camera. this is why people who didn't know how to use wire crimpers or butt connectors until last night shouldn't try to install units in ne vehicles that use data buses and everything else.
Thanks John!
John I am inquiring about the backup camera because that’s what standing between me and buying this product. Did you have to connect the radio to a reverse wire in your car for the camera to know you were backing up or did the system know automatically you were backing up?
@@tristanryan20 Hi I currently have the same problem did you ever find a solution please
Bought a car with this unit already in it.
By far the best sounding unit I’ve ever had without having to add a bass cannon. I love bass, and this unit can drive stock speakers to their full potential. I’m seriously considering getting another unit for my wife’s suv.
We may have gear to install it into her SUV. What is the year, make, and model of it?
How is it working for you??
I mean does it still work after 11 months?
You should make a video on how to adjust the backup camera!
I am most likely late, but go into settings, camera, and increase the reverse delay
@@1eb I wouldn't say too late. He still has the car, he may or may not have found this by now but I will pass along the information! Thank you very much.
@@1eb This does not work, at least for me.
Great Video. Told me every thing I need to know about the radio. Thank You
I had a friend install this into my 2010 Honda CRV-LX and I love it.
I have this unit can’t complain
Make speakers sound better?
How do you make your camera pop up when you up it in reverse???
So there is a button to switch to the camera whenever? Even when going forward?
@@crutchfield thank you, I found the settings that you were talking about. I've now been able to adjust my default volume accordingly.
What’s the difference between this unit and the BCVP9700A?
We do not carry the 9700 but looking at the specs Boss lists for it, it seems very comparable. The Boss BE7ACP does add the front camera input and SD card slot.
@@crutchfield I just got the 9700 and it also has front camera input on back and SD card slot in the front.
Cool. Sounds like it must be super close. Enjoy!

Great value and working perfect for me going on 2 months
It's great to hear that you are happy with it! 🙂
@@crutchfield Worked like a charm. Thanks!
Glad to hear that! 😊
Are your windows tinted?
how'd you get it professionally installed? through geeksquad or something?
Just had it installed and it doesn't receive phone calls directly while in either bluetooth or CarPlay. The call is received on the phone rather than thru the unit. The factory backup camera works well with the adapters from Crutchfield. Sound is good. Will have to call support. Not so happy just yet. 2010 Prius.

Was a setting on the iPhone. Accessibility>Touch>Call Audio Routing. Needs to be set to Automatic. This corrected the calls issue.
We are glad that you found the issue. Also, thanks for posting the solution!!
Is there a way to remove the “check surrounding area” notification on the head unit? Seems like it takes up 25%~30% of the view when in reverse, and is bright yellow which kinda draws my attention there instead of my surroundings 😬
Boss does not offer an option to defeat that warning.
@kennethedwards8834 Yes, cut the white looped wire on the camera itself. This also removes the camera "hard" parking lines, but you can always use the ones from the head unit itself.

@@crutchfield what wire is that ?
I just purchased the BE10ACP-C, and I was wondering If I connect the red and white wire labeled rear camera power from the Boss Unit, will it send power to the camera and LEDs any time you press on the camera option on the home screen, or camera will be powered all the time?
There is an option in Settings to turn on both FRONT CAMERA and REAR CAMERA functions allowing you can choose REAR CAMERA and FRONT CAMERA as you please. This is mentioned on page 25 of the owner's manual and seems to indicate that if you turn on this setting, the camera will be getting power all the time because you are turning on this function or this ability. how is it?
I have a 2004 Silverado 1500 with steering wheel controls I was wondering if those will work on this radio
We do have interfaces that can be installed with this receiver which would allow those steering wheel radio controls to operate this Boss radio.
Our online vehicle fit guide is designed to help get the correct installation parts with the radio which does include the parts to retain those controls. You can find our vehicle fit guide here:

I have a 2011 Subaru Legacy, I want to put the floating 10’ Boss Audio with the back up camera in it. Is this possible ? I have pictures of my current set up with the dimensions I can send over
For better assessment
We will be happy to check if this is possible! Did your Legacy come with factory installed navigation? Does it have the Harman Kardon sound system?
Just got this unit for my son. We installed it in his 2001 Honda accord. We got power to the unit everything hooked up. However we are getting this message on the screen "no signal detected, check your cable connection and make sure your camera is connected and powered on." Is there anything that can fix this? If so can you please HELP lol. Thank you for your time and video even though this is an old video for you.
Your best bet is to start by double checking your wiring and then your camera settings via the radio menu. If you got the radio here, you can call our Tech Support for help as well. Their direct number is on your invoice.
@@crutchfield ok great thank you for the help.
@@crutchfieldi have a 2001 honda accord do i have to use the backup camera or is it optional?
Hi JR. Nice video. Question: If my 2017 car already has a backup camera, do I need to purchase additional equipment or do you think my current backup camera will connect to the Boss without additional equipment? Thanks!
Did you figure it out
@@GagnonGaming88 Hi Matt. I think I did. Best Buy explained that I don't need to buy anything additional since my car already has a back up camera. However, I did have to buy additional wires to connect the steering wheel controls.

@@GagnonGaming88 Haven't had it installed yet. Will soon.
Most vehicles in which it is possible to retain the factory backup camera require an adapter to change its connections to the type used by the new radio. We can check your vehicle and recommend reaching out to an advisor to do this check. Here's how to reach one:

Does it fit a 2010 Chrysler 300 touring
Does your 300 have factory navigation? Does it have the basic 4-speaker system? Or perhaps the factory Kicker or Boston Acoustics sound system?
I just installed this unit into my 2015 Nissan Frontier. The question I have is this. I have a green parking brake wire and a purple wire left and I have No idea where they go?
It sounds like the wiring harness did not provide those connections which means they must be spliced into the stock wiring of the vehicle. We have a technical support department that helps our customers find the right place to splice into and we send their toll free phone number on the order invoice. If it was purchased elsewhere and they cannot help, we recommend contacting Boss' support by calling 800-999-1236 for the help.
What if I just need the radio do I need to install the camera for it to work ?
While it is not necessary to install the backup camera that comes with this radio, you will be served by getting the radio that does not come packaged with a camera. You will save some money this way. Here is that option:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/p_104BE7ACP/item.html
My car has a back up camera in it already. Will this radio be able to hook up to it with the wiring harness's that come with the radio?
Thank you.
The radio itself won't be able to retain your factory back up camera. We actually carry an installation kit for the specific car it's being installed in. We may have a camera retention harness that retains the camera in your car. What's the year, make, and model of the car you'll be installing this in?

Can i watch UA-cam vids on this? Or screen mirror
This receiver does not have the ability to show UA-cam videos from a smartphone or mirror a smartphone. We offer other models that can. What type of smartphone do you have? What vehicle is this going into?
Does this model come with a built in GPS or we have to use the android play
No, it does not have built in GPS but it does have Android Auto and Apple CarPlay to use your own GPS app from your phone.
Could u guide on the most suitable model that will enable me to use all the factory features on my town and country 2010 4.0 limited
I have already replaced some of the speakers bought from your store
Sure! What factory options do you hope to maintain? Did your van come with a factory subwoofer? Did you want a receiver with built-in nav? What other features do you need?
@Crutchfield
Are you able to turn the display screen completely off when not in use?
Yes, you can turn this unit off completely when not in use by pressing the power button at the top left.
Does the camera input support the stock camera? I already have a backup camera installed but I want to know if it supports the input that came stock in my car or if I have to buy another one.
Yes it does I have this unit and have a back and front camera. Both are different models I went with the Erapta 2.0
Just installed this on my 1994 Camry and it’s awesome opted out on the rear camera because it was out of my budget

I broke the screen in mine installing it. Unlucky drop.
Do you know the screen specs/model to get a new one from China?
Oh no!! That's no fun.
We do not have that information about the screen and recommend contacting Boss to see if they are able to supply you with it
Thanks for your reply.
How well does it handle really cold climates?
Typically electronics function well in cold environments. How cold are you talking?
when i put it in reverse i get a yellow bar at top of screen saying . be aware of your surroundingHow do i get rid of yellow warning? It blocks whole top of screen.
Boss offers no option to disable that warning.

Any way to get the SD card ? Lost mine
This receiver did not come with an SD card. It can take microSD cards and play a variety of music, video, and photo files loaded onto one. Here's a link to the microSD cards we offer that will work with it:

why do i lose control over my subwoofer bass knob?
It sounds like you are using an amp that has a remote level controller connected to this receiver. This radio's subwoofer controls should not impact the ability to use the controller and it is likely that either the amp, controller, or controller cable are causing the issue. Troubleshooting may be needed to help figure out which is the culprit. If you purchase your gear from us, you can contact our technical support for help using their toll free phone number that is included on the order invoice.
Thanks for your help, just put mine in and it's great...
You're certainly welcome. It's great to hear that you're happy with the new stereo! 🙂
Will this work with the stock camera? Will it connect the usb stock input the car has?
Adapters are needed to retain the camera and the stock USB input when they can be adapted to an aftermarket radio. We can check if we carry any parts for your vehicle to adapt those abilities to this radio. What is the year, make, and model of your vehicle?
Does the Apple CarPlay still charge your phone?
Yes! The Apple CarPlay USB input will charge also. :)
You can charge your iphone while it's connected for Carplay. Make sure your plug in your iPhone to the BE7ACP's rear-panel USB port labeled "Apple CarPlay/Android Auto" with an Apple certified Lightning-to-USB cable.

Amp is ON ground good battery cable is good everything is plugged in right. I tried all the outputs for the RCA cables behind the unit but nothing 😔 can anyone help?
The only things left to check are any controls that may be on the amp itself. so my buddy ordered this for his 2012 jeep patriot. he has know clue what hes doing when it comes to most things, this including electronic installation, and is also extremely impatient and couldnt wait 3 days for me to be free and do it. after video calling me 100 times he thinks its connected correctly, i have no clue cuz its not physically in front of me however the issue that has came up is his car has no back up camera and he doesn't want or need a back up camera when the unit starts it gives him an error message about the back up camera having no signal. i told him to ground the signal off which he says he did but its still giving him the error. has anyone encountered this issue and know how to bypass the back up camera. because i cant really see this unit just not working with out a back up camera. this is why people who didn't know how to use wire crimpers or butt connectors until last night shouldn't try to install units in ne vehicles that use data buses and everything else.
Any luck? Mine is the same saying check power to camrea and won’t let me do anything else
