  • ... no words!
On Monday, April 8th, 2024, a total solar eclipse, whereby the Moon casts a shadow on the Earth and completely blocks out the bright part of the Sun, was seen in Mexico, the United States, and Canada. The path of totality included cities like Mazatlan, Austin, Dallas, Little Rock, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Buffalo, and Montréal. A partial eclipse was visible throughout most of North and Central America, parts of western Europe, as well as the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.
I journeyed from NYC together with my dad from NYC to Keeseville, New York, just south of Plattsburgh. We were joined by my cousin and her boyfriend, and we encountered a couple from Albany as well. The experience was ... like I said, no words!

So, as the title says, this video is unedited. I just filmed for 40 straight minutes, and with all the personal things I've got going on, I could _not_ be bothered to edit this.
Oh, and I didn't notice that I was filming in 720p (1280x720) until ... too late. (darn) It was still exciting, though.
Special thanks to my dad, my cousin, and her boyfriend for joining me and helping coordinate this! ❤ Special thanks also to Harold and Michelle for the pleasant encounter! 😊
We're speaking a mix of English and Russian here - plus I'm sure I got some facts wrong because I was relying on my memory. Chapter marks, closed captions, translations, and fact checks will come soon. The video description has more details.

Thank you for your hard work shooting! 🌞🌚
Even if you don't use UA-cam's automatic translation, just hearing everyone's excited voices, you can tell right away that this is a rare and special astronomical show. (lol)😆
If I could ask you something...🤔
When you photograph a total solar eclipse again in 20 years, please decide in advance which camera will specialize in capturing the sun and which will record changes in the surrounding brightness. 😂
Anyway, I congratulate you on being blessed with the opportunity to take this photo, including the weather! 😊

Sadly, I only have one camera. :(
My dad, my cousin, and her boyfriend each brought their own cameras (smartphones). You'll notice my cousin's phone mounted to my tripod with the eclipse glasses taped to the lens. That one was filming the Sun the whole time. Hopefully, my cousin will compile the footage.
Another problem is that special equipment (which I don't have) is required to properly film and photograph the Sun. During a total eclipse, lens and filter swapping are required because the solar filter makes it too dim during totality. In other words, perfect timing is required to remove the filter during 2nd contact and to replace it during 3rd contact.
I'll save the hard work for the hardcore "eclipse chasers." (lol)

@@AlexSh789 Oh, I see. Then I'll wait for your cousin to upload the video.
Please tell him, “At least do it before the next total solar eclipse!”😂
