    What are your thoughts about Rephr brushes? Will you pick up any in the sale?

    This was a really helpful review, especially seeing the brushes in use. Thank you!
    I don’t think rephr copies other brands, though. The brush shapes are pretty generic if you look at different brands over the decades, with some tweaking based on customer feedback. And lots of other brands use black ferrules with various coloured natural bristles. I love Wayne and Sonia G and have followed them for years, but I don’t think they can be credited with creating those particular types of brush.

    Half off is crazy, I was gonna splurge on maybe 3 or 4 brushes to replace my core routine, but after you mentioned you prefer other brands led by actual artists-- I think I'll stick with my gut and save for Sonia G ones. I've wanted the mini cheek since launch haha. Rephr has sales quite often, so I'm okay using my Nars small brightener and Goss 16+18 for another month or so. I'm also way over budget lol. I mentioned getting the sheer Gucci lipstick for the Sephora savings event and still don't regret it! It's so stunning yet comfy and natural.

      That makes sense! All the tempting sales nowadays are really hard on the wallet!

    I enjoyed seeing how you used various brushes, especially more recent additions I was curious to see in action. I purchased the collection when it first launched and added a few brushes that had more unique shapes and/or sizes. I can't say that I thought any compared so precisely to WG or SG brushes. I wonder where there are similarities if feedback from makeup artists influenced original designs towards ones that existed. I know a discontinued but beloved MAC blending brush was designed through that process. That said, I don't reach for rephr brushes as much as I thought I would but I find them handy for travel when I don't want to carry my expensive brushes. The rephr brushes that I do use are eye brushes 1, 3, 12, 13, 14 and face brushes 04, 17, and 19. What I really enjoy from rephr is the storage component that has a high side and slant and I use them to store Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow palettes (approx 12), Tom Ford eyeshadow quads and Shade and Illuminate compacts, Tom Ford powder and cream blush and blush/highlighter compacts (using the velvet pouches to line the bottom so they don't slide). I have some other designs but this is where rephr has a truly unique product. For storage, I mostly use Sarah Tanno's line on Amazon - you can tell it is designed by a makeup artist. I store my SG brushes in a divided holder that allows eye and face brushes to be separate, and my WG eyeshadow, bronzer, and blush palettes fit perfectly into one of the multi-drawer storage containers, and Lisa Eldridge lipsticks in their box and glosses out of their box fit perfectly in her lipstick holder. Thanks again for an informative overview of rephr brushes and non-brush products.

    Thanks for this, I just ordered the 13, 15 & 28 and now wish I'd gotten the 14 instead of the 13. I love my 21. I only have WG Air brush & small Artist since the rest (except the Edit line) haven't been avail for what seems like forever. I love my SG Worker 2 & Jumbo blender and may eventually get the new Fushion series or wait to see if some come as singles. I don't mind Rephr making a quality product at an affordable price & think the design by consensus is smart & consumer friendly. I also feel more tender to them because they DO have good sales. As to the shapes/handle colors being similar, black IS classic and some shapes just work better than others so I can see how they are choices for multiple brands. If you come up with a good tool, it will be copied and often improved upon. Obviously, I'll spend the $ for quality tools but if I can get more for my money, I will do that, especially in these times. Also, so many of the content creators who have ALL the brushes often end up using Rephr on camera, so they must be pretty good. I do wish more did what Rae Morris did, and put magnets at the ends of the handles - excellent for drying on the stove hood. Design wise, I find the Fude brands more attractive, with the gorgeous woods and the like, but those are out of my price range most of the time due to shipping costs. I also like the BK brushes for creams (and even some Beauty Pie brushes are just fine) and appreciate that I don't feel so precious about them - cleaning the expensive natural hair brushes always stresses me out, like giving a cat a bath 😰

      Yeah, WG seems to be winding down his brush line, which makes me quite sad. I like going back and forth between my Rephr and other fude brushes. Since they’re more affordable, I don’t mind using them with formulas that stain a bit (like blues and greens). BK Beauty is my favorite brand for synthetic hair brushes. I used to think I didn’t like synthetic brushes, but I’ve liked the ones I’ve tried from them.

    This was so helpful and informative. It definitely helped me to narrow down which Rephr brushes will fill gaps in my makeup collection or potentially work as travel brushes if I don’t want to take my full-size Sonia G or Wayne Goss. Thank you! 😊

    I’ve never bought into the Rephr brand. I think their marketing put me off… but I couldn’t put my finger on why exactly. Then I read Temptalia’s rant about it. 🙊 I wasn’t quite as turned off but she made some points. I’ve had some excellent WG and SG brushes for years, with a few Chikuhodo, and those have met my needs without fail. For people starting out with fude, I do hope this gives a good entry point. I’m glad you were honest with the ones that you didn’t love - sometimes it feels like other creators don’t have anything constructive to say, just accolades and I worry that their affiliate links are clouding their judgement. 🤔

      Thanks! I try to make my reviews as objective as possible. I make very little from my affiliate links, so they don’t motivate me

    Thanks for the video. It really helps. If you had to choose only one from among 15,16 & 27, which one do you think would work best for hooded eyes? Would any from the mini or max ranges be better than these three?

      Glad it was helpful! Recently, I’ve actually been using the Mini eye brushes mostly since I like the greater precision. I have a separate video showcasing those if you’re interested. I use the 15 for transition shades in the crease, 14 to deepen the outer corner, 13 for lower lash line transition, and 2 for shimmers and setting eyeliner.

      Thanks! Rephr has some of my favorite eye brushes. For face, most of my favorites are from Sonia G., but I also enjoy the Rephr ones.

    Hi, so I am debating on whether or not to buy 4 of their brushes; Rephr that is. 13, 14, 1, & 3. I like those but $48 for brushes is a lot. In your opinion, 13 & 14, are pretty much the same but one is a bit bigger than the other. Do you think they are both needed as long as you have 1?

    • @areteanbeauty
      @areteanbeauty  Рік тому +1

      I personally don’t like the 13, but I really like the 14. The 1 is great for one-and-done looks, but I don’t use it that often since I normally do looks with a bunch of shades, so the 14 is more useful for me.
