    I'm not always a rosewood fan but my SJ-200 Parlor has rosewood back and sides and it is the nicest sound I have ever heard out of a guitar.

    Gibson is beating Martin & Taylor to the punch. I traded 2 Martin’s for a J45 & an AG Parlor Rosewood and I LOVE THESE GUITARS. The frets are finished by a Plek machine and they’re PERFECT. Gibson is doing some great Acoustic Guitar making in Bozeman.

    Been waiting for a review. I preordered this end of May from a competitor solely due to financing terms at that moment in time, now July 18th, still no idea when it will arrive. Can't freakn wait !! Thank you so much for this and your entire series of reviews.

    • @Terrapinonline
      @Terrapinonline 3 роки тому +2

      @@Steven-Duffy I received it and it was gorgeous, absolutely stunning; however after living with it for a few weeks, it didn't feel like the guitar I'd reach for often enough to justify the expense. It's very large and the neck is as well. I wanted something that played like butter and sounded dynamic but would chime as well. I ended up replacing it with a Martin D-42 and after a few months can tell you, for me personally, it was the better choice.

    • @ferminharris3826

      @@Terrapinonline Is it a thick neck? Body isn’t a issue since I prefer the jumbo body, but the neck comment made worry a bit since I just pre-ordered one

    • @Terrapinonline
      @Terrapinonline Рік тому +1

      @@ferminharris3826 From memory, thick may not of been the right word as much as wide. Take my comments with a grain of salt. I've been playing a Martin D-28 for over 40 years, so it may just of not felt familiar and was far more comfortable with the D-42. It was an absolutely stunning guitar and wish I could of afforded both; likely over time I would of felt differently; but it was a huge leap financially for me, so my nervousness around that may of played into it. Please, let me know your feelings after you have her in your arms. Don't be discouraged by my comment; it's an amazing instrument, just a personal thing as you know.

      With Doc's pedigree, career position(s), etc. I don't believe he's quite feeling the squeeze on compensation. Now the discounts are a different matter!
      However, those discounts might get Quinton in another kind of squeeze at home due to GAS ;-)

    As you guys have had lots of j200s in stock over the years and clearly love them (as I do), which of the j200 models has the very deepest bass and richest tone: this Pre-war rosewood, Western Classic or another?

    Just wondering why Quinton mostly "noodles" and rarely plays identifiable songs in his demos?

    • @TheAcousticLetter
      @TheAcousticLetter  4 роки тому +2

      We let Quinton play whatever he's inspired to play on each particular instrument. In many cases, the "noodling" is his way of getting to know the guitar. it's also a great way to showcase the sound as there's typically a good mix of strums, single notes, and dynamic strumming. Re your request: we'll get him to add a few more recognizable songs too! thanks for watching.

      @@TheAcousticLetter It's very nice to see where a guitar leads a player when it's allowed to drive. It's also nice to hear something familiar to learn how it translates what we know. IMO, any sort of combination works as long as there's a dose of each.
