- From Selzer Design Studio’s renovation of an Edwardian dwelling emerges Armadale House, a bright minimalist home firmly connected to the outdoors.
Situated in Victoria’s leafy suburb of Armadale, Armadale House is a single-fronted weatherboard residence. Selzer Design Studio ensures that the minimalist home retains its appearance as a single-storey house, despite the renovation making it a double storey volume.
Internally, Selzer Design Studio focuses their efforts on crafting a soft and light-filled interior landscape within the minimalist home. In the bedroom, lightweight linen bedsheets interact with the coarse fabric of the bed upholstery and the velvety texture of the rug beneath.
The remainder of Armadale House reinforces its status as a lesson in renovation. In consideration of the building’s heritage, Selzer Design Studio preserves the traditional Edwardian architraves. Floor-to-ceiling glazing at the rear of the property enable the minimalist home to embrace its natural, external environment.
Armadale House stands as a successful reimagination of the building of old. Opening the minimalist home to its surroundings, Selzer Design Studio improves the standard of the residential experience.

The use of the mirror to hid the TV was so well executed. She did a really great job of making the house feel like a home, while not taking away from her aesthetic. It's also a very practical home which I love. Bravo!
I was just about to comment on that! It’s ingenious! It’s so spot on, I can’t believe I haven’t seen it done before.
Really prove you don't need a mansion to really make a house so homey, this is so perfect in it's way, it's not a big house, but everything has a purpose and are trully well designed, so in love with the arhitecture and interior
Children raised in the sweet light and calm of this home will bring their own much-needed love and light to the world - thank you!
Her description and design feels very honest, human. A very enjoyable episode.
The common thread across all the comments - this is an unquestionable beautiful design that's so simple yet so tasteful. You don't need to have a busy design with all the shiny objects to achieve quality. This is a true definition of a home with its amazing family.
Wow. I almost cried watching this video. The light and greenery is incredibly stunning. Feels like a soothing and peaceful home! Amazing work
Huh?
The highlight of my week, every week.
😇
I’ve seen hundreds of homes through many outlets . This is by far my favorite home. ⚡️⚡️⚡️
That's the cleanest kitchen i've seen in my whole career as an architect. Love it!
Eat outside
The living-kitchen area so beautiful & peaceful, so nice ideas -like the hiding of the TV by a mirror.
This house is an absolute masterpiece.
absolutely stunning... love every detail.
The mirror being used to cover the television is brilliant
Greetings from the U.S.A this one is a winner. I love the subdued palette, the unique "materiality" ,and the generous amount of fenestration in the kitchen
I just found it to be dark.
Gorgeous house and I love the sliding mirrored panel that hides the TV as TV's are so ugly IMO.
The use of materials to elevate the space and create a sense of luxury on a modest scale is incredibly inspiring.
The mirror that hides the tv is a brilliant idea!
Edwardian house in front and modern minimalis inside. Beautiful home.
What a beautiful and well thoughtout home design.
Sometimes a home can be extremely beautiful and artsy, with various details, which, despite being exciting, do not add up to the coziness and do not give these home vibes. There are a lot of great things about purely aesthetic designs, but this one is actually really pleasing and at the same time livable. It's stunning, but not over the top.
Ive been looking for a youtube home tour that reflects exactly what is on my ind and I'm confident in saying this is the closest I've seen. I love the sunlight, the plants and mainly the arches. I love every single detail of this that makes it not just a house but a home
SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!!! MODERN, CLEAN, TRANQUIL, FUNCTIONAL AND HOMEY.
beautiful!! Love the sliding panel and Kitchen island the living room
Neat, sleek, clean and Zen inspired spacious interiors with contemporary extended form & features well hidden behind an elegant old Victorian home fascade.
The finesse in this… absolutely stunning
I love the modern feeling the house evokes. So cozy and soft and airy.
Mirror was genius! Rock on Rockstars and love the boys hair! 😉
The Local Project is my go to if I am feeling anxious or disjointed.
🙂
the traditional facade of the modern interior with white color, this house is very comfortable, it looks simple and clean with the dominant white color.
Love. Soft, simple, elegant and functional.
What a beautiful home, well done Emma - amazing! 😇
A most Beautiful design in this home. These beautiful architecture videos i watch have been inspirational. We have been Transforming to a more minimalistic lifestyle for the first time in our lives has been a chore but exhilarating at the same time. Finally realized that we do not have-to display every decorative item that we are emotionally attached to and have stored away 90% and we just figure that we can rotate pieces in and out of our spaces based on seasons etc. We are really starting to see our beautiful architecture in our 1948 mid century cottage of a home by decluttering. A word often overused “Zen” but best word to describe the transformation.
Perfection. White minimalism and still a warm feeling.
Absolutely exquisite! Great tip about living in a space for a while, to really understand what’s needed in design. Love the rock n’ roll wall and understated colours. 🎉
Really a minimalistic home, very practical, clean and beautiful design.
Finally smone with my sense n taste of Home.. :)
i'll link this video when someone asked me "what is spaciousness in space?"
As others have commented, the mirror is great. But that bespoke bedhead is a great idea.
Very deliberate and minimal, love it!
Spectacular!
The sliding mirror to hide the TV is genius!
Thankyou for willing to share this amazing architecture house! So simple yet feels enough to live. What a great idea! Greetings from Indonesia! 💛
Absolutely stunning!
Beautiful home! Perfect!
What a beautiful home. Cant wait to read about it in the print publication!
Excellent I love it. I especially love the sunlight n the shadow of pants n trees on dancing on the interior walls.❤️
Wow - really impressed with this - i like how she used light and embraced those curves in the master and ensuite! Also - great job Local Project team on capturing that 'dappled' afternoon light that she mentioned! great feature team!
Glad you liked it, thank you!
Beautiful
Beautiful home. Truly love the addition of the barn style mirror - genius idea!

So lovely!
stunning renovation.. love it!
I’m inspired to ask what the cream color on the walls is, please? I would love to replicate it in my own home. It gives such a calming, sanctuary-like feel. How a space feels is very important to me. This home was designed with a lot of thought! It’s so beautiful, I would not leave lol!
I love the design of the interior so amazing
amazing house, beautiful
❤️very thoughtful and practical design
it’s so beautiful and tranquil
Beautiful space
Stunning
Beautiful.
Masterpiece!!!
It's funny she said humans are drawn to spaces that are bright. I felt so wierd, because I am actually attracted to dark spaces with a formulated ambience of light. I consider it more cozy
Lovely!
Harmonious design
I’m so in love with this 😍
Your home is just stunning what kind of material did you use on the kitchen island and floor
Try silver travertine
Can’t say anything about this home, for me this is incredible
Land doesn’t matter
It's nice to see The local project with small houses. Usually it would be a big super rich houses which nobody could afford. lol This house has very elegant and tasteful design but yet very homey feeling too. very nice. The rock stars wall is the greatest!
Bellissima💚
amazing house,amazing job
Excelente trabalho.
Parabéns e muito obrigado !
Paz ☺👊
wxtremely beautiful work
Beautiful work.
Architecturally Im not sure moving the stairs to the back made such a difference in the overall design though hard to tell with out the top floor layout.. It could have probably been before the living room.
The master bed room is so far from the children that it makes me anxious. Also when the kids grow up all the tracking in the house and friends back and forth. I have a feeling the stairs at the back will become a regret.
I’m going to subscribe I’ve always loved the architecture of New Zealand and Australia. There was another magazine I think it was called artichoke I don’t know if it’s still around but that’s another one that I love
nice
awesome
Wow.
i like most of it except that space which appeared quite dark and blank around 4:59.. it might ave just been the lighting at that time of the day but for me that was a little dark. An extra window is something I would have included on that wall
What a beautifully considered home. I love the colour pallet, please if any one knows the colour of the walls? exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks for putting Vietnamese subtitles 🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍
🙂
Looks great, beautiful palette. not sure what happens when you start cooking though - no exhaust on the cooktop? Would have liked some more wide angle shots or floor plan
Wow
Where is the bed head from?
🔥🔥👍👍👍
Where are the night table lamps, someone knows? The project is amazing!
Very nice. I just think anyone can achieve similar with just doing beige. Not much else!
