Always disconnect the ground cable first! Also you didn't mention connecting the vent tube.

BMW should have put a drain hole in the battery compartment. If you have a leaky ragtop, the battery compartment literally becomes a small bathtub 😅

Does anything need resetting in the vehicle after changing the battery?
