- Thousands of doctors and post-graduate students held strikes across the country to protest over the rape and murder of a 31-year-old woman trainee doctor, whose body was found in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, last week and triggered shockwaves. The Lallantop team reached AIIMS Delhi, where doctors were protesting. Sonal Pateria interacted with them and asked there views about their working conditions, problems they face and what they have to say about Kolkata Doctor's Rape case.

Full support to doctors
I worked in Aiims Delhi as a junior doctor.We had 23 doctors working in night duties.Duty room was merely 10×10 with a single washroom without ventilation.It was an absolute horror.AIIMS with a budget similar to a small state cant even provide bare minimum facilities to its own doctors is concerning.
yes ur merilt result declared according to that seat nos only, if u didnt take that seat next merit person will got that. so please dont make irrelavant point. Yes as society person we all respect doctor but its not celibrity services.

Hi Nitish - Is it that bad in AIIMS? I really want to know. My son dreams of becoming a doctor and AIIMS Delhi is the top college in India for MBBS. Lately I have been hearing a lot about the work pressure, lack of sleep, and poor working conditions for doctors in India. It's one of the most noble professions but if working conditions are so extremely tough it's quite disheartening. Shall I ask my son to reconsider his decision? Please advise. Thank you.
As doctors, in residency we have to do 24-36hours duty..... Without any off Or rest. Most of government hospitals doesn't have duty room nor proper washroom. When I was working in male wards, I had to use even washroom used by male patients., as workload is such u can't leave ward. If u don't understand, don't comment. We are asking for better working environment and safety
Residency breaks us physically and mentally, and we can't leave the course bcoz our previous documents are submitted to hospital that we get back after completion of bond period of after paying hefty bond money of 30 lacks

I m returning from Nair hospital mumbai now. I have live seen the protest by Drs. I myself has seen emergency Drs were doing work continue without any break. I asked the Dr that did you sleep as since 30 hre i am watching u working . He simply smiled with pain and said ' ab kya boloon patient bhot hain '.
I salute to that Drs , sometime he was sitting on floor with pt and working and checking pt as many pt was sitting on floor due to lack of bed.
More than 8 hrs work is injustice without safety and facility is crime .

Even in Maharashtra we have a bond of 50lakh rupees for pg, 1 crore for super speciality and 10 lakh for ug! Any person should be able to leave an institution if he/she doesn’t feel safe there! Why only doctors have these bonds??? Why not engineers ??? Why not lawyers????

Please be meaningfull when you're saying 30 to 40 hours, it's not a race that every one of you is increasing the hours in every next comment. And everyone knows doctor's business nowadays, writting heavy priced medicine and takes commission, and can't check a single patient without fee. For 10 minutes checkup they take 1500, and in the end come up with भगवान का रूप.

I work 48 hr shift continuously in hospitals and instead of complaining to their own govt about the situation of the hospital everyone just curse doctors for anything they face at hospital rather than questioning their own govt. YE SAARE SAWAL AAPKO SARKAR SE KARNE CHAHIYE PAR LOGO KO APNI AUKAAT PATA HAI TO DOCTORS PAR BLAME AATA HAI ISKE LIYE BHI ..... This situation is everywhere in every state . I feel bad for the victim's parents. Imagine what is going on their minds after hearing their daughter get raped and death in workplace... and not to mention in hospital.
PM should personally have visited Kolkata to give strong message to criminals.
No one is even flinching eyes about these continuous 36 hrs / 48 hrs etc... see people are like this - hume kua wo chahe kaam kar kar ke mar jaye. No one cares about violence against drs , i have personally faced harassment by public at 12 am night . 10 males against me alone (a female ) and for what , that assistant for surgey was on leave . What do i do about it ? I resigned from that hospital for safety issue . Did f.i.r. for violence against me - police was not ready to register f.i.r. due to their political relation. This is the state of government hospitals.

My colleague was baten brutally for something he wasn't even at fault.Hospital denied to lodge an institutional FIR,he was on his own.Spineless administration and ungrateful people.India do not deserve doctors anymore.

Doing Mbbs in India is most challenging task..even becoming ias is easier..u need lot of patience+ time+age.. and lakhs and crores in most cases too..still after so much sufferings and pain..they r getting nothing..most sacrifices by doctors gets nothing and an illiterate politician is getting life..that they don't deserves..Best option for Indian doctors and Engineers is to find their destiny abroad..India is not for hardworking talented ones..

Because the fee in govt colleges is extremely subsidised. Almost free. And where do you think that money is comming from? From the tax payers. If any one does mbbs from a private college the fee is very high , almost 1 crore or even higher.
You are obliged to serve in a govt hospital for that reason.
