Thanks @FBAMAP, this is such an interesting question and I did a quick test. I disconnected my phone from my home WiFi, so it's on mobile data internet. I then switch my tablet to another phone's mobile hotspot so the tablet is connected to the Internet via another phone's internet. This set-up still works, the phone call still goes to both my phone and my tablet. When I disconnected the tablet from the Internet, it does not work anymore. So technically, the answer to your question is Yes it should work as long as both the linked phone and tablet are connected to the Internet. Sorry I didn't test by literally bringing my tablet to the office and leaving the phone at home. Thanks for your question, leading me to such a good finding.
I actually tried it once, leaving phone at home but bringing cellular tablet with me outside. Calling can work, but when I answer from the tablet I get comments that I took so long to answer. It's inconvenient to pocket as usual. Texting is still fast though. But lately, recent updates to the calling feature require the same wifi network to call remotely, so this use case might not be possible anymore. It was fun while it lasted. Edit: I learned my local carrier hasn't supported VoLTE for prepaid compared to others, so the experience may be different if you use that.

Hi Ransford, to your second question, yes, my tablet in this video is a WiFi only tablet. I haven't tested it against two phones, my guess is I don't think phone-phone will work. You can always give it a go between your Note 20 Ultra and S10. When you said defected network, do you mean the Mobile network or the WiFi on your Note 20?

Hi Frank, happy to help, but I don't have the watch and phone you mentioned to make a video on. By the way with your Galaxy S7 are you referring to the Galaxy S7 phone or the Galaxy Tab S7 tablet? With the phone, you can try downloading the Samsung Wearable app from google play store and that app will be able to help you fully connect your galaxy watch 4 to your phone. If you are using a Galaxy S7 phone, hopefully the Android version is not too old to run the Wearable app. Hope this help.
Don't think it will work because both the phone and tablet need to sign in to the same Samsung Account. Don't think we can sign in Oppo phone to Samsung account.

I am looking for an 8 inch tablet, I can use like my smart phone, but need one I can answer like a phone, not always having to use it on speaker. I also need a flash on the camera, so I can use it in low light, like in shops, so I can see the products. Finally, I need it to have Android 9 OS, so I can use the accessibility features and I need the usual bluetooth connections etc. I have been searching for days now, but cannot find a tablet with the specs I need. Hi Martin, Glad to help. Does it have to be 8 inch? If not, you can consider getting Samsung Galaxy Tab S series. Like the Tab S6 (mine), or the newer Tab S7 and S8. They comes in 10 inches to 12 inches. It's better and easier for you to visually see as well. These Galaxy S-series are more feature rich with lots more connectivity features like I showed in this video. Get the LTE version so you can put a SIM Card in there and have data and Internet straight on the tablet. I know another Tech UA-camr who is also visually impaired, and might be able to give you better advice than me. I will try to see if I can connect him to comment this thread.
Hey mat. Since you have the galaxy S7, I’d suggest going for the galaxy tab S7. It’s very powerful, supports cellular, and has the accessibility features you need. HTH.
I'm getting a new phone, but I'm really bad for breaking them. So I think when I spend time drinking outside in the garden I'll just keep using my old phone, linked to my new one over wifi (kept safely in the house). With this feature no need to worry about breaking a new phone!

Hi Steve, technically Samsung doesn't support nor recommend connecting galaxy watch to a tablet. They recommend connecting to phone running Wearable app. Some other viewers said that is possible but difficult. Hopefully they can help comment on this when they see this comment thread. I am not sure how to do it.
Thanks for a great video. I've a cellular Tablet with Bluetooth hearing aids capabilities and noticed that the tablet can receive text and calls. I've in fact reduced the number of devices in my life to just the tablet. Though hypothetical I'm curious on whether I need another sim card, if I was to get a watch (or phone) and how close to each other device need to be, or can they be far apart, eg left in the car or at home, and lastly can they be different android brands or do they need to be the same manufacturer
Hi John, your questions actually depend on quite a number of factors such as the brand of the devices and your telco network restrictions and more. If you want to get another device, talk to your telco to see if you need to get another sim card, would be the way to go. I recommend staying with the same device family (Android or Apple iOS) and if possible stand with the same brand. Devices that connect via Bluetooth usually can still work within 10 meters (direct line of sight), this also depends on the Bluetooth version and device battery strength. Sorry the answer depends on so many factors.

Hi Hemant Yadav, Thanks for the kudos. In order to connect galaxy watch to a galaxy phone, we should use galaxy wearable app. "Call and Text on other devices" is to link galaxy phone and galaxy tablet.

Hmm.... I am not sure, but I don't think the galaxy watch is designed to connect to a tablet. It only connects to a phone. Have you tried downloading the galaxy wearable app on your tablet and try connecting? Hopefully someone who have successfully done this can share their experience.

Hi R Graz, I just did the same test for you now. It works, but I did the test with all my devices at home, I didn't leave my phone at home and take my tablet out to another outside location. I just switched to use mobile hotspot which is the same as me bring it to another outside location. Hope this helps. By the way, what's your idea?
Don't think it will work on non samsung tablet because this feature requires us to register both our phone and tablet on the same samsung account. Yes I think this should work on tab s6 lite and the new tab s7, however I am not certain because I don't have those tablets to confirm that.
I can't find the "call & text on other device " option on my phone. Could you tell me if it works in every Samsung devices? I use s23ultra and samsung A31
On your s23 ultra, go to "Connected devices" settings to find the "Call & text..." setting. Yes they have moved it. And I dont think this feature will work on A series Samsung tablets unfortunately.

Hi Diana, if you mean galaxy tab s7+ then yes I think you should be able to link it to your note 20 ultra to answer calls on your tablet. Try the following steps. 1. Sign in to the same samsung account on both your tablet and phone. 2. Enable the call and text on other devices setting on both your tablet and phone. 3. Try out calling your phone. Hopefully this works for you. Let me know how you go.

Oh........ Interesting. I am not familiar with esim. Sorry. I normal just turn on my mobile hotspot on my note 10 to give my tablet Internet, so I never bought the mobile data version of all my tablets. I have used the tab A, tab s4, and now tab s6.

Another question man, do i need to have a sim card on my tablet or do i need to connect to same wifi? Because i have a data only sim card on my tab s7 plus so if i answer or make a call from that sim card I'm getting charge for that. If you follow my method, it won't be using the data-only-sim in your tablet. As long as both your phone and tablet are registered on the same samsung account, it should just work. You may need Internet connection, not necessarily WiFi. I got this working all the time even when I am outside without wifi. By the way, my tablet is the basic model, which doesn't have a sim card slot to insert a sim card, and it still works on my set up. So pretty sure the phone call answered on our tablet is charged to the SIM in the phone. How this helps.
Thanks QQQueen, very good question. I don't think that will work on whatsapp and signal. So far I have not been able to get whatsapp and signal to install on my tablet, so can't transfer any on-going call from phone to tablet on whatsapp and signal. Maybe someone else might have some success and will share their experience when they see this comment.

This is such a good question. I don't have a SIM tablet to test this. My guess is when we configure the phone to take phone calls from the tablet, that's the part where the phone will not act as a recipient of another phone because it already has its own SIM. I don't know. This is my guess. Maybe someone who have this set up can confirm this when they see this message thread.

I just tested it for you. I set my phone to do not disturb mode while I have this calls to tablet feature enabled. As I use my tablet, phone call comes in, the phone call appears on my tablet screen for me to accept or reject, however, both the phone and tablet did not ring and vibrate. So yes you will be able to see the phone call popping up on your tablet if you are using your tablet. Hope this make sense.

Hi Vernal, not essential, and it really depends on how much extra features you intend to get out of the watch. I am not certain, but I believe the galaxy wearable app only works on a phone, and not on a tablet. The galaxy wearable app can see a lot more information and stats compared to what you see on your watch.
@@VernalScott not entirely useless. You can connect galaxy buds to the watch directly without your phone, stream and listen to music from spotify, make phone calls, and so on. Haven't tried these, but if I am not wrong you should also be able to listen to pod cast and pay using Samsung pay on your watch too, all without your phone connected. Others with LTE watch version might be able to confirm this.
Hi there, my galaxy tablet is the WiFi version and does not take sim card. My phone makes the phone call, so when I take the call on my tablet or my watch, my phone is still needed to connect to the phone call. Hope this make sense.

Hi, the linked devices menu links the phone to tablet, it does not link to the galaxy watch. In order to answer calls and read text on our galaxy watch, we would be connecting via Samsung Galaxy wearable app. Hope this helps.
No I don't think all tablet and watch can do this. I am pretty sure the tablet, phone and watch need to be in from the same eco-system like Samsung or Apple. I am not sure if Apple iPad Apple watch and iPhone can do the same. Maybe someone can help confirm this?
Idk why but this feature has stopped working for me on my tablet. I am able to make calls and recieve calls but my messages refuse to sync between my phone and tablet and sending messages always fails on my tablet. Anyone know any fixes?
In the "Call & text on other devices" settings on your tablet, you can individually switch on and off "Calls" and "Messages" to be synced. Could you turned off the "Messages" option ?
Galaxy Z Fold is a fairly new phone so should have the newest One UI version, so it should work. However, I don't have a Z Fold to confirm this. Maybe someone with a galaxy Z Fold would be kind enough to comment and let us know.

Try going to your S21 phone settings and look for Advanced features menu. Call & text on other devices option is in there. That's where i find it in my galaxy note 10 settings. It might be different on S21. Hopefully someone with S21 can confirm.
Oh I see, so it's the limitation of the mobile carriers. This is interesting! One would expect the mobile carriers won't impact this feature as the connection would be direct wireless connection between the phone and the tablet. 🤔 Hmm.... Maybe this is not the case. We are looking for a basic functionality where user can insert 5 g sim in the tablet and can make and receive calls like a regular phone .instead of depending on the phone .and no third-party application or workaround. That will solve the puzzle.
No, even when my galaxy buds are connected directly to my galaxy watch, when I pull the phone call over to the watch, the watch puts the phone call on the watch loud speaker and watch mic. Seems like the buds live connecting to the watch is for music only. Now, my galaxy watch active 2 is a WiFi version, not the cellular version, so maybe the cellular version may work differently. Perhaps someone using the cellular version galaxy watch can let us know.
I am not sure, but some of my viewers manage to do that. Usually we are meant to connect our watch to the phone as the host, to get the full features of the watch.

I don't think galaxy watch is designed to work with Galaxy tablet. However, someone in one of the comment below mentioned they managed to connect their galaxy watch to their galaxy tablet. Alternative the other suggestion would be to get other brand smart watch like fitbit. You can try out if their app can run on tablet before buying them.

I know Watch 4 is built on top of Wear OS. Yes that won't work. The tablet is like an extension of the phone calling with the same phone number. Using the tablet to call the phone is exactly the same as using the phone to call itself, which won't work.

Hi Miland, sorry to tell you that this features only works with certain models of Samsung phones and Samsung tablets. It works for most of the S series phones and tablets and also the Samsung Note series phones. Hope this helps.

I did a bit of research, unfortunately, most likely we cannot link up a samsung galaxy phone with a ipad to answer calls because ipad is from Apple not Samsung. When you upgrade your device next time consider getting device from same ecosystem like iPhone and ipad. Hope this helps.

Hi Steve, technically Samsung doesn't support nor recommend connecting galaxy watch to a tablet. They recommend connecting to phone running Wearable app. Some other viewers said that is possible but difficult. Hopefully they can help comment on this when they see this comment thread. I am not sure how to do it.

Thanks for a great video. I've a cellular Tablet with Bluetooth hearing aids capabilities and noticed that the tablet can receive text and calls. I've in fact reduced the number of devices in my life to just the tablet. Though hypothetical I'm curious on whether I need another sim card, if I was to get a watch (or phone) and how close to each other device need to be, or can they be far apart, eg left in the car or at home, and lastly can they be different android brands or do they need to be the same manufacturer
Hi John, your questions actually depend on quite a number of factors such as the brand of the devices and your telco network restrictions and more. If you want to get another device, talk to your telco to see if you need to get another sim card, would be the way to go.
I recommend staying with the same device family (Android or Apple iOS) and if possible stand with the same brand.
Devices that connect via Bluetooth usually can still work within 10 meters (direct line of sight), this also depends on the Bluetooth version and device battery strength. Sorry the answer depends on so many factors.

Hmm.... I am not sure, but I don't think the galaxy watch is designed to connect to a tablet. It only connects to a phone. Have you tried downloading the galaxy wearable app on your tablet and try connecting? Hopefully someone who have successfully done this can share their experience.

Hi R Graz, I just did the same test for you now. It works, but I did the test with all my devices at home, I didn't leave my phone at home and take my tablet out to another outside location. I just switched to use mobile hotspot which is the same as me bring it to another outside location. Hope this helps. By the way, what's your idea?

Don't think it will work on non samsung tablet because this feature requires us to register both our phone and tablet on the same samsung account. Yes I think this should work on tab s6 lite and the new tab s7, however I am not certain because I don't have those tablets to confirm that.

On your s23 ultra, go to "Connected devices" settings to find the "Call & text..." setting. Yes they have moved it. And I dont think this feature will work on A series Samsung tablets unfortunately.

Hi Diana, if you mean galaxy tab s7+ then yes I think you should be able to link it to your note 20 ultra to answer calls on your tablet. Try the following steps.
1. Sign in to the same samsung account on both your tablet and phone.
2. Enable the call and text on other devices setting on both your tablet and phone.
3. Try out calling your phone.

It's under advance settings within the settings menu. Try searching for "Call & text" in the settings menu, don't search for "Call and text".

Because i have a data only sim card on my tab s7 plus so if i answer or make a call from that sim card I'm getting charge for that. If you follow my method, it won't be using the data-only-sim in your tablet. As long as both your phone and tablet are registered on the same samsung account, it should just work. You may need Internet connection, not necessarily WiFi. I got this working all the time even when I am outside without wifi. By the way, my tablet is the basic model, which doesn't have a sim card slot to insert a sim card, and it still works on my set up. So pretty sure the phone call answered on our tablet is charged to the SIM in the phone. How this helps.

So far I have not been able to get whatsapp and signal to install on my tablet, so can't transfer any on-going call from phone to tablet on whatsapp and signal. This is such a good question. I don't have a SIM tablet to test this. My guess is when we configure the phone to take phone calls from the tablet, that's the part where the phone will not act as a recipient of another phone because it already has its own SIM. I don't know. This is my guess. Maybe someone who have this set up can confirm this when they see this message thread.

I just tested it for you. I set my phone to do not disturb mode while I have this calls to tablet feature enabled. As I use my tablet, phone call comes in, the phone call appears on my tablet screen for me to accept or reject, however, both the phone and tablet did not ring and vibrate. So yes you will be able to see the phone call popping up on your tablet if you are using your tablet. Hope this make sense.

Hi Vernal, not essential, and it really depends on how much extra features you intend to get out of the watch. I am not certain, but I believe the galaxy wearable app only works on a phone, and not on a tablet. The galaxy wearable app can see a lot more information and stats compared to what you see on your watch.

@@VernalScott not entirely useless. You can connect galaxy buds to the watch directly without your phone, stream and listen to music from spotify, make phone calls, and so on. Haven't tried these, but if I am not wrong you should also be able to listen to pod cast and pay using Samsung pay on your watch too, all without your phone connected. Others with LTE watch version might be able to confirm this.

I haven't tried it before but I doubt so. In the settings, it lets you pick the specific phone you want to link up, so we can only pick one phone.

Hi, the linked devices menu links the phone to tablet, it does not link to the galaxy watch. In order to answer calls and read text on our galaxy watch, we would be connecting via Samsung Galaxy wearable app. Hope this helps.

Idk why but this feature has stopped working for me on my tablet. I am able to make calls and recieve calls but my messages refuse to sync between my phone and tablet and sending messages always fails on my tablet. Anyone know any fixes?
In the "Call & text on other devices" settings on your tablet, you can individually switch on and off "Calls" and "Messages" to be synced. Could you turned off the "Messages" option ?

Try going to your S21 phone settings and look for Advanced features menu. Call & text on other devices option is in there.
That's where i find it in my galaxy note 10 settings. It might be different on S21. Hopefully someone with S21 can confirm.

One would expect the mobile carriers won't impact this feature as the connection would be direct wireless connection between the phone and the tablet. 🤔 Hmm.... Maybe this is not the case. No, even when my galaxy buds are connected directly to my galaxy watch, when I pull the phone call over to the watch, the watch puts the phone call on the watch loud speaker and watch mic. Seems like the buds live connecting to the watch is for music only. Now, my galaxy watch active 2 is a WiFi version, not the cellular version, so maybe the cellular version may work differently. Perhaps someone using the cellular version galaxy watch can let us know.
I looked for this to turn off this feature. Was so annoying to get calls on my tablet. Especially when my ringer was turned off.

I am not sure, but some of my viewers manage to do that. Usually we are meant to connect our watch to the phone as the host, to get the full features of the watch.

I don't think galaxy watch is designed to work with Galaxy tablet. However, someone in one of the comment below mentioned they managed to connect their galaxy watch to their galaxy tablet. Alternative the other suggestion would be to get other brand smart watch like fitbit. You can try out if their app can run on tablet before buying them.

Given you have a Galaxy Watch 4, have you tried installing Wear OS app from Google? I know Watch 4 is built on top of Wear OS. However, please research this and do this carefully in case it breaks your Watch 4 default connection with Samsung Wearable app.
I don't have a Watch 4 to try this out, unfortunately, hopefully, someone with Watch 4 can confirm if they have successfully made it work with Wear OS on tablet.

Yes that won't work. The tablet is like an extension of the phone calling with the same phone number. Using the tablet to call the phone is exactly the same as using the phone to call itself, which won't work.

I did a bit of research, unfortunately, most likely we cannot link up a samsung galaxy phone with a ipad to answer calls because ipad is from Apple not Samsung. When you upgrade your device next time consider getting device from same ecosystem like iPhone and ipad. Hope this helps.
