X cant grasp the concept of giving an old dog a good home for its last years
for real, like the people that adopt older dogs knows what it comes with.
Giving people 10k to adopt the dog isn't a good way to make sure these dogs will be looked after... adopting/buying a dog should be expensive. Even giving them away for free is a bad idea let alone giving money
they deserve comfort so sad. T_T one day when i have my own property imma hella adopt old doggos.

To be fair, I eat a cow and pig for dinner that's been through factory farming like many times weekly. Makes me feel hypocritical when I'm nice to dogs but not the animals i eat, considering they are considered smarter then most other animals.

I’m not gonna lie. I wanted to get a dog myself but after seeing my friend go through the grief he felt from losing his dog after 13 years of a life together I don’t think I’ll be able to. As much as I would love to have a companion like that I don’t think I’d ever be able to stand to feeling of coming home and them not being there
That's just how life works. Nobody is ever prepared to lose their loved ones because they're too concentrated on loving them right now. It's a beautiful experience, I'd recommend you go get the dog, you'll get a lot of good memories with them and will definitely impact your life positively. I had depression back when the pandemic started so I adopted two cats, and every time I see them I forget about all my problems and just cuddle with them.
It really sucks when it's over, but it's worth every moment while they are there. It's all about providing them with a good life
Ngl it's not easy to get over the feeling of losing them. It took me over a year to get over loosing my childhood dog of 13 years as well. Don't think about that part too much rather think about all the good memories you'd make.

So don't get a pet, it's just going to make your life worse in the long run. If you didn't get a dog, you would stay in the neutral state of being which is what you should strive for.

the area i live doesn't have kill shelters. we have a lot of animal rescues with foster "parents." I couldn't even comprehend "buying" an animal. there are so many many shelters that i just have to save one when i get a new pet.
