Thanks for watching my cover of "final phase" by fripSide, the opening theme of Toaru Kagaku no Railgun T!
I can proudly say this is one of the best covers I've ever made, also one of the most fun and challenging covers to play. Learning Animenz's "only my railgun" arrangement gave me a lot of inspiration and motivation to create this cover. I've spent nearly double the time than usual to complete this, but I'm satisfied with the result.
I've used some musical themes from "only my railgun" in different parts of this cover. Could you hear them all? :)
Besides, I've mixed in other songs from the Railgun series too:
2:52 "sister's noise" - Railgun S OP (m.107)
2:54 "LEVEL5-judgelight-" - Railgun OP2 (m. 108)
2:56 "future gazer" - Railgun OVA (m. 109-110)
I've even put in Beethoven's "Appassionata" Sonata (Mvt 3) in the left hand at 2:24 (m. 89)... it started as a joke, but I was surprised at how well it fit.
About the sheets, I've put in my suggested finger notations to help you learn the piece. There's an "original" and "ossia" section starting at bar 106. You can choose either one to play: the harder ossia section is what I played in this video.

Actually I found that all the railgun/index (but mostly railgun) related songs have a very similar theme and/or style of being very techno and generally idealistic and beautiful, while at the same time carrying the subtle dystopian vibe of the darker story arcs.
it also reminds me of sister's noise loll

Wow, definitely got a lot of animenz Railgun vibes going here and I love it. Without a doubt really catches that high-energy feeling of fripsides song. Would definitely agree with you that this is your best covers. Looking forward to more arrangements with this much attention to detail.

It took me days just to figure out how to mix in the references to the other OPs while still keeping this as "one song".
@@HalcyonMusic Just one thing I noticed: Your recordings sound pretty "dry". Have you ever considered adding some reverb or generally using a more "wet" sound ? Fonzis Garritan sounds really nice imho, solely because it has a very wet sound, especially during sustain use. Or do you want that dry, precise sound to be "your" thing? :)
I have different settings for different covers, but generally I don't like using too much reverb.
@@HalcyonMusic Alright then, guess I have no choice but to learn that piece and do my own, more wet recording :) Really looking forward to your next cover now, I'd love to see you experimenting with different styles and inspirations. Maybe something a little jazzy, maybe some baroque counterpoints, maybe some romantic influence...well, anyway, looking forward to that :)

Thanks! For the second half of the bridge, I went over so many iterations, deliberated for days before finally settling on this version.
One of the earlier versions featured the entire "sister's noise" chorus, but I decided to keep the cover dedicated to "final phase", so I ended up only including one bar from that.
