You can remove the interior cut lines of an offset by turning it into a basic cut and using the contour tool. Then, you turn the offset back to a print & cut image. Thank you for yet another very informative video. 🌸
If they had that image with an 8-track, that would be my vintage! 😂 Thanks for sharing. We are in the process of making shirts for WDW and this will definitely kick them up a notch!
Thanks for the much needed tutorial…and I am SO going to search for that design for me!
Thank you so much ! I feel so much better about calibrating! ❤
So cute 🥰 Thanks for all you do 💐
I love learning! I know this didn’t turn out the way expected but dang! A lot of fun learning! I’m super glad you shared this video! Thank you!
The shirt is so adorable. The joy xtra is on my to get list. Probably next month. Thank you for the video :)
Really Really liked how this one😅 turned out. I can’t wait to use my new Joy Xtra. Thanks for sharing these wonderful ideas and precious moments. Have a blessed day. And as always, thanks for sharing your time and talent. Continue to be blessed to be a blessing.
yet another wonderful presentation
I have been so afraid to try print then cut iron on! This video just made me feel confident , that I can do this! Thank you!!
Thank you so much for this video Bethany, your guidance on how to work the machine is second to none . Thank you very much appreciate it oxox
Thank you for the test at the end! That’s a big difference so really helpful to know!
I love that design! It looks great, too. I was surprised about the color change, too. Since it is not sublimation, I am also curious as to why it did that. Good thing to know, so I am glad you tried out that product.
I love your nail color!
What a great video!!! Thank you 😊
Great tutorial thank you.
Bethadilly, thank you so much for this video., I tried so hard to make things for Christmas but couldn’t figure out calibration as my printer kept asking me if I did it, and kept rejecting my project. I went thru so many videos by so many people then found yours. Thank you again!!!
That was very interesting. You took the fear out of callibrating my machine. I have never done print and cut before but it looks fun and I can't wait to try. I did love your shirt! Thanks!
U are the first that explains perfectly how to get started & do the iron on. Thank u for taking the time. I loved u presentation. My thinking about the deeper color, perhaps it is like the infusible inks that they show lighter before u put heat to it & it shows darker afterwards. Just a thought. I cannot wait until I get my machine & do a few totes.
I had to immediately buy both types - I’m definitely out of my wheelhouse with all the new fangled things, but I’ll start small and hope for the best. 🤞🏻
I really am learning a lot from you. Thank you for this and the calibration lesson was so good. I’m curious, did you wash the shirt first? Maybe that plays into it?
I have only used it one time, but the ink definitely gets brighter after heating.
Printable vinyl coloring is similar to sublimation..meaning that the colors will become a whole lot more vibrant once it’s heated. That’s always been my experience with it.. Tasso came out amazing ❤
Right, the color chosen was most likely not that close of a match and the heat brought out the true color.
LOVELY AS ALWAYS!!! I HAVEN'T BEING ON UA-cam lately, covid teens, so I have alot to catch up!
Ty for this video I just bought a Joy Xtra. Your description is great. I love your tool holder where did you get it?
🤩 New subscriber here, thank you for the video !!
I didn’t try this yet but I think if you make the offset white you’ll get the results that you want because that material looks a little see through to me
Hmmmm, that could be. Though it still doesn't fix the fact that the rest of the image changes in saturation. But I would be interested in seeing how transparent it truly is when left white.
When you show how to make stickers would you address multiply images on a download from Etsy? I am stumped. Thanks for your videos on the Cricut Joy extra! I have watched every one-twice! I really love them!
Decided to try this again today. When I added my offset, it came up that the image was too big. I adjusted that a bit a few times. Also it cut the Vintage Soul part separately? Tried to change the offset color to a cream color, but could not get it right. This was a major challenge, however, your video was very helpful and the end result, which I pressed onto a canvas tote bag, came out really good. Thank you.
Thank you for the helpful video. One question: I have a design with lots of thin, short lines and dots. So I need an additional transfer film with which I can first tape off the design and then iron it on. Which film can withstand such high heat and is suitable for ironing together with the new Cricut printable iron-on? Greeting and thanks from Munich/Germany 😃
Will you share how this holds up after a couple washes?
The more I see about the Cricut Joy Xtra the more I find myself wanting it but I feel like I really should start crafting more with my Cricut Joy before I Add another machine to my craft room but I'm really getting to a point where I am lacking inspiration to even use my machine and starting to feel limited by what it can do.
This is a great demo, Bethany! I tried this product this past weekend on a small project and had a similar experience with the colors looking a lot more saturated once pressed. I liked the result, it made my floral design look more jewel-toned, but I can see it going either way! I really like the product, but I"ll definitely be careful about "fussy" designs and make sure to use a nice solid offset so it's easier to peel off the backing sheet.
Good to know yours did the same! I still like my shirt and am wearing it today (ha ha!) but I would have preferred it remain the original color, especially since I took the time to color match the offset with the shirt. That was disappointing.
@@Bethadillydid you open the system dialog to print at "best?" I know it has been said for print then cut we should open system dialog to choose the paper type and not to print at "normal" but at "best" for the best quality printing.
Got my Cricut joy Xtra today! And how do u use the printable iron on I don’t know how to work with it so new to it
My hubby JUST surprised me with a pkg of iron ons for light colored shirts for making bowling t-shirts. Can I use it on my CJ xtra? Thanks for info!
What printer you used?
Does it has to be subliminition
Or just regular printer and ink like ecotank
When I used that, I didn't color the offset. It presses clear. Maybe try that? But its so cute!! Love it!!
Wonderful project and calibration deets! You could remove inside cuts on offset thru contour if you didn’t want them to cut.
The contour button wasn’t active, so it wouldn’t allow me to contour those pieces out. :(
@@Bethadilly the control button is not active for print and cut you’ll have to change the offset to basic cut then the contour button active and can be applied then attached 😊
I've used transfer tape that is made for iron on??
Does it have to be an inkjet printer? Will a laser printer work?
Is it an inkjet or laser printer? Do you know what works best?
With this sort of material it’s normal that the colour changes when you apply heat..I’ve used the Siser Easy Color, plus various other brands and they all act the same way..the heat brings the colour to life. If you prefer a lighter tone try lightening the design before you print to offset the change in colour. I find that some heat resistant transfer tape is good to have on hand to transfer more intricate designs..Siser has some specific material which you can use with this type of material ..if the design is solid you do as you did and carefully peel off the design from the backing sheet and apply it in one piece but if the design has various components you really do need some TTD application tape.
Very interesting to know. All of the past brands that I have used for printable HTV have not changed color once the heat is applied, this is the first time I have seen that. I have always had my image remain an accurate color when the heat goes on and I think this was a pretty big change in color. It's not really that I prefer the lighter tone, but that I prefer my design to be the accurate color that I print it as, if that makes sense. I understand with sublimation that this is the case, but the software and printer will automatically print the ink accordingly so that it will take on it's true color once heat is applied.
Do you know how to fix the calibration malfunction? I bought mines a couple of weeks ago and havent been able to "print then cut” due to that its not callibrating correctly…
Nice design you could have contoured those holes out of your offset - I was surprised that you didn’t. It was a great match and looks super cute
@@Bethadillyif you change the offset to basic cut, then contour. Then change it back to print and cut. I’ve done it several times.
Great video. I am new to this, so haven't done anything yet. I am wondering with my logic is that the calibration is good for that placement of paper, but I think calibration might be off for the next cut because of the placement on the mat might be slightly different than the first placement?
It won’t matter how your mat is aligned, because it’s reading the registration lines to determine the cut.
@@Bethadilly Ah,Ok. This is starting to make more sense. Like I said, I am new to this, and excited to start doing things on my Cricut.
I had done this a few years back and the colors turned out exactly like it printed. I didn't use the Cricut brand, so maybe that was the difference. That is a bummer, because you matched that perfectly.
Same, I have used a different brand and there was no color variation once pressed and the remained accurate.
@@muluavila I always use dark even with light colors. it makes the colors sharper
All of them get brighter when you iron. If you want lower resolution you have to do it in the print settings
I agree that to be true with sublimation products, but not with printable iron-on. With sublimation, everything is intentionally muted at printing because the product indicates it will take on true color with heat. If adjusting color settings was to be part of the process for this printable iron on product, it would need to be clear in the instructions.
I think the end result should be what is on your created design on your computer etc. I know with sublimation, it might look lighter when printed, but then intensifies in color after printing. This 'may' have been the case here? It's hard to tell what the color is on your laptop. It might have been closer to the printed color than it seems. In any case, I thought it looked great! Thanks for a great video as always 😊
I agree! That being said, the color on my computer matched the color that printed perfectly. The color changed with the heat. To me, if that is the case...it should be specified on the product. For sublimation, it is known that the ink intensifies upon heat application which is why the printer prints the ink with less saturation...but for this product that isn't stated anywhere.
No transfer tape?
You mirror it then you use heat transfer paper to put it on the shirt its easirer to get off the mat and its easier to put the design on the shirt
When you print on sublimation paper the ink doesn’t look quite right on paper but when you transfer it to the fabric it brings out the actual color try using brighter colors you will notice the difference
Yes, that is normal for the sublimation process and sublimation ink. However, not for a heat transfer. It should not print accurately in color and then heat inaccurately. Whereas, sublimating takes on its true color with heat, this color takes on an abnormal and untrue color.
First comment! Just clicked to watch but already know I’ll love it! I’ve been sick in bed (Covid) quarantining and binging your videos!
Oh no! Feel better! I have a video coming out every 2 days for the next week or so...so you will have lots to enjoy as you rest!
@@thatssassy9697 I wonder that too! Though I do think that is something that should have been noticed during product testing.
Do you mind if I ask what ink you use? I use HP ink. I'll report back to you if you use a different ink when I try it.
@@thatssassy9697 I have my printer listed in the supply list below and it's the ink that goes with that. But the product just indicates that it can be printed with an inkjet printer, and doesn't say it needs to have a specific ink so that is where I am confused on why it would be an ink issue. It could very well be an ink issue, but I would think that would have been apart of their product testing?? Super interesting right?
I dont know why but I cannot figure out what the inside of SVG design represents. I mean the part that is in front of the flowers. I love the vintage look designs but this one isnt clear to me so a suugestion would be great and then i will probably say ooooh i get it! Thanks
Yep and that makes it more clear to me!!Thank You!!!@@DazzlingDanaOfficial
Do you think you left the presser on for to long?
Just a suggestion.
I don't think that was it, because when I went to test it on the tote bag I used way less pressure and it didn't stick properly. So I don't think the time and temp was the issue in this case.
So is the circuit joy extra worth getting ?
I am super happy with it. Disappointed in this printable product, but very happy with the actual machine. Be sure to watch my unboxing video for more opinions on it. :)
@@Bethadilly oh yeah I did see it but just wondering if it’s worth it cause I have the joy and circuit maker thank you Love your videos
If you have a Maker I don’t see the need for this machine unless you need it to be portable or don’t have space
@@vickyrussell6778 honestly, I think it's worth it! I have the joy and maker too....I never really use my maker and I love the size of the new Joy machine because it's so compact but does so much! For me, it's a win!
@@Bethadilly ok I’ll have to think about it thank you maybe my Christmas gift to myself lol
🤗👍🏼❤️
The heat caused the color to change
Yes it did. The problem is that it shouldn’t do so, it’s not like sublimation.

The product does not was well on a shirt
I bought this product this is terrible, it printed it great but when cutting it tears all apart. I bought new shirts used your pattern, I bought the product such a waste of time and money
Sorry to hear your machine was tearing during the cutting process. It may be that your machine needs a lighter cut setting? Sometimes finding the right cut setting is so frustrating, and unfortunately every machine may cut a tad different.
Also, make sure you are creating your offset here, as it should only be cutting around the perimeter of the design. I had to learn that the hard way too when creating mine.
My husband purchased this joy Xtra machine for me as a surprise we have a special needs daughter that requires 24 hour care sometimes well on the weekends I do the overnight in her case it is a non sleep position. She has a trachea and take 31 medications a day to stay alive. This is not a pity party by no means it is our life but this is something I can work with in the middle of the night. I hope cricut gives you something from this because you're an excellent teacher. I have already learned a lot from you so a huge thanks for that!! Please keep up the great work.
I hope you enjoy your new machine! Prayers for your beautiful daughter!
