Good endeavor! I think there's a serious gap in audio-related news coverage, at least on UA-cam, that you can fulfill. Looking forward to more of these types of newsy videos!
I like these videos and that you putting timesteps in it, for example I already heard about the Hd8xx and just skipped this part, really appreciate this. Keep up these great videos.
Its potentially better for watch time if I don't put timestamps but then its better for viewer experience to have them and not waste peoples time. I always try to have timestamps in all my videos. Thanks for watching :D
Great post. I appreciate the additional information about the Sennheiser press release. Looking forward to seeing how the new Microsoft Xbox wireless headset performs.
Excellent video 👍 Is the MS headset 100% Wireless or can it be used in a wired mode also? As far as the Drop HD 8XX goes... I'd have a problem spending $1100 on something I'd be receiving tomorrow... so I can't ever imagine spending $1100 on an 8XX Pre Order that's not coming out for 9 months!! That's if you're lucky and they hit the actual release date. Seems pretty insane this type pre order. It's like giving Drop an $1100 interest free loan for 9 months that's making interest in the bank. $1100 X 3000 Pre orders = a lot of money making interest for Drop. Plus the 8XX Drop version doesn't come with a Balanced Cable like the HD 800s does. So you really aren't getting a deal with the 8XX even after the $200 pre order Drop credit. Those hoping the 8XX was going to be a similar steal like the HD 6XX will be totally disappointed. Without the Balanced Cable the 8XX should be priced at $800. You could argue just find a used 800s for much cheaper than $1100 and EQ the Bass. There's your 8XX
I'd 100% feel sick spending that much, never mind waiting til the end of the year. Drop hasn't even delivered the Panda app that was supposed to arrive ages ago and their communication on it has been terrible. Got a fair few people on their forums with bricked devices waiting for a way to update the firmware to fix them. Disaster launch. If I was in the market for the 8XX I'd definitely take the $100 loss and just wait for the finished product.
@@WheezyTech Ever since they changed from Mass-Drop to Drop it seems like things have gotten a little shady with their company. They don't really offer great deals anymore like the 6xx was in the past. Once they became Drop they even raised the price on the 6xx, Elex and 58x Jubilee. I don't trust Drop at this point
@@WheezyTech Very true lol I'll still wait for some reviews first though as every other wireless headset/headphone ive ever heard has been very unimpressive to say the least.
Hey. Could you please help me decide between Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 Ohm and Sennheiser HD 599? I will use the headphones for games and music on my Pc at home only. Which one is better?
Bro, I want to buy a good pair of headphones, I listen to lots of jazz, r&b, lo fi, hip hop and rock. Due to my music preferences and budget of less than 150, I was thinking on the 2xhr (us120) or HM 400SE (us150), THE hd599 currently us199, so they are not an option.
I'd recommend the Sennheiser HD560S in that price range, it's more neutral than 599 and X2HR, has great bass extension and a good detailed and smooth treble response. Out of the other options the Hifiman would be my next choice.
I feel like they started going down hill with the HD800s, but they probably lost morale after Apple’s bluetooth IEM’s absolutely ROCKED them. It started becoming really obvious Sennheiser began operating like a whole foods to everyone...
I think Apple really shocked people with the Airpods Pro. Sennheiser do need a bit of help catching up in their consumer lineup. They were on to a good start with Momentum in its early days but they should have kept up that momentum. Pun intended lol
Sort of agree but also graphs can be useful for seeing if a headphones overall tuning is in the ballpark of what you you like or if a tuning is just totally whack. I reckon $1200 is a lot to spend blind so a graph is pretty helpful. But yeah never go looking at all the peaks and dips and judge them from that as often those sort of things are subjectively a lot less audible or meaningful than they appear in graphs. Ultimately the proof is in the listening.
@@WheezyTech Yes I agree. hearing is the best thing before buying a headphone. In my opinion graphs show very little and they're not immune to mistakes or tampering. graphs will only give you a basic understanding of what the phone sounds like. there have been times when I've seen Graphs it looked to me like the headphone would be terrible but in actuality come out sounding great.
Yeah its a bit behind the times. But to be fair, there's no benefit going from 4.2 to 5.x in terms of audio performance so this is more than likely a cost saving measure as this headsets primary function is to be connected to a console. I don't have any issue with that for £90.
@@WheezyTech "there's no benefit going from 4.2 to 5.x in terms of audio performance" - wow! And when you see new model of Sennheiser PXC-550 the first (and only) new tech in it is... BT 5.0 over 4.x in the old model. Seriously?
@@zyghom Yeah its mostly a marketing number for headphones. Bluetooth 5.x helps with data transfer applications but doesn't help audio. Bluetooth 4.2 has enough bandwidth for most if not all codecs. Not sure if there are some high end ones that can go beyond this. Definitely for SBC, AAC and probably aptX. Not sure about LDAC but probably that too. Problem is there's a lot of conflicting info out there. Only other benefits to newer Bluetooth standards could be battery life. But afaik when you're using Bluetooth audio it just falls back to older Bluetooth standards anyway. In short for headphones, Bluetooth 4.2 is fine.

Will do, enjoying doing these

Audeze is named after 2001 A Space Odyssey and the pronunciation is the same btw 😛. I think you have found your channel's niche. Great stuff
I think this was the first time I said the name out loud, everyone seems to pronounce it different. 2001 A Space Audeze. I like it. Thanks :D
Your video production value is on point

Not an original comment, but wanted to say I appreciate what you're doing with these videos.
Absolutely Love the idea of an audio podcast , and these news videos. Keep it up 👏🏼👏🏼love from Norwich
The HD 800xx looks like incredible value!! If I didn’t have the hd 800 C’s I’d definitely go for it.
Love the new segment !
Thanks :D Definitely gonna make this a regular thing.

In my humble opinion, Sennheiser needs a headphone priced above the 660s and below the 800s. That seems to be a popular price-range these days.
Yeah I think thats what people were hoping for when requesting the 800S in the first place. Maybe about $800.
They do. Its called the HD700
Something is seriously wrong when im actually more hyped about the xbox headset than the sennheiser headphone.
Could buy about 12 of those for the price of the 8XX I suppose
