I hope SEGA remake this ASAP! They have already registered remakes of Shinobi, Crazy Taxi, Jetset Radio, Altered Beast, Eternal Champions, Kid Chameleon, among others!
I love how this game doesn't take itself seriously at all. It has an excellent sense of humor and so much personality. I also love the designs of the enemies. They dared to create something original rather than adapting H.R. Giger's iconic alien designs for rhe Alien film franchise like most developers were doing at the time, instead opting to go with the grotesquely organic. This game is truly a product of its time in the best way. I do wish we'd gotten a sequel though.
"I also love the designs of the enemies. They dared to create something original rather than adapting H.R. Giger's iconic alien[...]" *cough* The Thing problably was a big inspiration for the whole alien design here *cough* ...just saying :)
@@nahanddejan2984 The alien from The Thing was thought to be grotesque in a scary way. The aliens from Alien Storm were thoght to be grotesque in a funny way. Very different. It is still possible to say that Alien Storm gets some inspiration from The Thing, but I woulnd't say a big inspiration.
Alien Storm Longplay (Arcade) [60 FPS]: Save Earth from invading alien scum in this fun, if slighlty lacklustre fighting game from Sega. Read the video description for my review!
Absolutely it does, Sega could easily Port this Arcade Version of Alien Storm to PS4/XB1 for about maybe $5 or $10 with online play, like how they ported Golden Axe/Ecco/Comix Zone/Shinobi & Streets of Rage 2 back in the day on 360, Sega Vintage i think they were called, with 200 gamerscore each 🎮🎮
It's like Golden Axe but with Aliens. I've never seen the arcade version till now. Everything looks and sounds improved over the decent Genesis version. I wish Sega released an Arcade Collection for consoles and PC. Something must be holding them back. Maybe licensing rights of some kind. Why no Golden Axe 2?
This game is so obnoxious and the sound effects are so loud! And I really like it! It just screams stereotypical 80's arcades! I love the creativity of the designers little cut scenes. I never knew this was an arcade game before today but one of my favorites on the Genesis. Glad I found this!
I remember when i was a kid and playing with my neighbours in his house. My favourite was the man in red with the laser. The girl remember me Ripley with her flamethower and the other like Boba Fett with a whip. I love the variety of fase in this game.
It's virtually the same base graphic and animation frame set modified with a few added extras, even her walk is the same but slightly faster than in golden axe. That is really awesome though.
While this version is richer with content, Sega version has more pleasant enemies burning sound, in this version it's kinda disturbing, especially when you hear it for hundreds of times.
I always felt this was superior to Golden Axe which had some of the worst AI I've ever seen in the genre. I feel the arcade version of Alien Storm has worse pacing than the Mega Drive port which is structurally a completely different game. Then again, maybe I just find an alien invasion more interesting than fantasy tropes.
+Mysterious0Bob I agree that I preferred the MD port to the arcade - it's more balanced. It still doesn't feel as good as Golden Axe, but that's just my opinion - I just preferred the fantasy setting 😀

This one game I never played in Arcades in 90's wish i did. But did have it on Sega Mega Drive in UK ( In US called Sega Genesis) This Arcade Version look better
Whats wit hthe alienstorm/sega watermarks and where the hell is the soundtrack? XD I came here to travel back to being 4 years old and 1991, I think my time machine is borked. (edit: nevermind, I see it entered the start screen demo XD )
Pretty sure he's supposed to be the stereotypical Russian judge, a combination meme/bad habit of the time for Russian judges in international events to be notoriously picky on how non communist competitors were scored.
All these early '90s alien games had the grossest designs! Japanese sure are weird! (I'm Japanese, but I've lived in America for most of my life, and I like the US alien games such as Invasion: The Abductors better.)

They look pretty "grotesquely organic" to me.
This wonderful game can definitely use a sequel!
I would love a modern version of this game. C'mon, Sega, you have so many great franchises, do something with them!
I agree with you! Sega just let's great potential sit there and rot.
@@f.k.b.16The only downside about Sega, and it's a huge downside. A fatal one.
It’s too good to modernise
29:32 Good lord, that ending. A full-on rush of the early 90s. It’s absolutely glorious.
The visuals of the game had impressed me very much when i first saw it on the coin-op.
The game still holds fine even for today standards.
Wow! I wanna cry 😢 i played this so many years ago. Very Lovecraftian! Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱

I love the food truck that's also their vehicle to get to the battle. You played the hell out of this game!! Master, I bow before thee!
If this was on normal or hard setting, you are a legend to do this with a single credit. Period.
It plays so much like Golden Axe. Almost feels like an in depth reskin. I lovee it
Also remember Street of rage
Golden Axe in the future, with some elements of Sonic with the running stages. This game is amazing
I dont remember how many tokens or coins I spent in this amazing game in my childhood, I am 40 years, best regards for all people from 80s generation!
This version seriously needs a port to modern systems!!!

I gotta hand it to this game. The monster art was top notch!
I'm 36 years old and I could never finish this game. I feel so nostalgic for my youth
I finished it in an arcade and had a whole audience behind me. Will never forget that day. They stole tokens from my pockets too.
@@MazBringsby LOL
mega classic of the arcades that is remembered even to this day.
At 4:02, in the level intro: Did Sega lift that scream from Tom and Jerry? ;)
they should do a ghostbusters game like this
They should do an Alien Storm movie like Ghostbusters
It's like Golden Axe but with Aliens.

I'd be surprised if Dotemu made a sequel to Alien Storm.
10:17 gorgeous scenery!
This was a funny game, i think i remember the Robot Dude taking his head off and using it as a bomb.
I also never got the running at 80 mph bit.
A ghostbusters game like this would have been sweet
I can't imagine those nerds running around and beating anything up though.
Maybe everything else would be perfect though.
@@Freakazoid12345 So THIS is what the inspiration was for the final part of GB2016. It all makes sense now.
"And when you aren't fighting aliens, you... Sell fast food?"
" Got to make a living somehow, man."
7:26 there’s a Shinobi cameo on the TV
7:52 “Super Hang on” Cameo
They sure run fast, running at the same speed as the alienships

this version looks so much beter then the sega mega driver version, holy hell.
Golden Axe..in modern times..vs aliens instead of vs Death=Adder and his minions.
This ate a lot of my coins back in the day
Is that tyris flare from golden axe?
Barry B No, but there's no denying that she bears an uncanny resemblance...pretty sure it's intentional 😀
It's virtually the same base graphic and animation frame set modified with a few added extras, even her walk is the same but slightly faster than in golden axe. That is really awesome though.
But no halter-bikini? Pity :)
No, officialy her name is Karen...maybe Tyris is her ancestor...?
come on sega reboot this :)
Man, they completely reused the tyris flare sprites for this. The sprinting and walking frames are straight pallet swaps.
Maybe Tryis Flare got another job after Golden Axe and this is it.
This dude is playing like he has quarters in the machine, nice!
I remember playing this as a kid.
its wierd how the game used sounds form the thing
ah yes, child nightmares, i remember playing this game so bad, it was so difficult, but i didnt realize how bizarre was
Bad breath, man.!
Este juego estaba chido, me latía mucho de morrillo
Awesome arcade game...BUT that ending though...

"I'm unemployed!"

Me hubiera gustado mucho que se pudiera descargar de la Playstation 4
How come Gordon is in red suit, he was in blue as I remember the arcade machine.

Its like they couldn’t get the Ghostbusters license so they did something similar but different.
