George Lucas certainly wanted a pathetic orchestration, apparently to emphasize the tradition of the plot itself, he selected suitable symphonic melodies for John Williams so that he would creatively rethink them, but the composer insisted on the originality of the soundtrack and did not lose - Williams' theme with a lush "Wagnerian" sound became the hallmark of the entire space franchise and the most successful single in history instrumental music.
