It seems like most people don’t know how truly amazing these beasts really are. In this video I’ll be telling you some things you might not have known about these truly amazing pokemon.

“It is said” does not mean it is fact that an Entei is born every time a new volcano appears. Especially if Entei’s bark creates a volcano. The Entei being born when the volcano appears is just Entei being there when the volcano appears. It’s similar to how everyone thought Absol brought bad luck; Absol just knew something bad was already going to happen and appeared because of it
I feel like Entei and Raikou are extremely underrated compared to Suicune, I love all of them but let’s be honest, Suicune is the most fan-favorited

I think it's just because people remember the Celebi movie with Suicune more than they remember the Unown movie with Entei. As for Raiko, i don't think he ever got a mainstream movie like the others
tary 2t He got a Johto TV special with Gold but as far as I know, he did not get a mainstream movie, not only that but Suicune got a whole as game while Entei and Raikou was kinda just there
Scraggy 2467 entei doesn’t have anything special as far as movepool and it’s stats don’t make it shine beyond any other fire types. Fire is bad defensive typing and it has not boosting moves worth using.
Raikou however has had major success throughout the generations with high speed but also having better bulk than most electric types. The only problem is that outside of zapdos and the genie, I can’t think of many electric types who have had huge impacts. Raikou is probably top 5-10 electric types but it just in general not a very good one of typing. Needs a secondary and it would be incredible.
Suicune used to be my favourite of this trio, but after an experience I had earlier this year, that's changed...
A couple of months ago I was away in Bali, one morning I ended up climbing a Volcano (Mount Batur) when I got to the top of the volcano I watched the Sun rise, and the view was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Anyway I couldn't help but notice a dog walking around near me (no joke, there's a lot of roaming dogs in Bali) I know some say Entei isn't a dog, but seeing this dog on top of the volcano with me, watching the sun rise... I couldn't help but think of Entei, and because of that experience, Entei not only became my favourite of the trio, but probably my favourite legendary of All Time! :)

I feel like Entei really should've been a Ground-type to make the Type Triangle work out. And it wouldn't be very out there either.
He's said to make Volcanoes erupt with each of his roars.
Volcanoes aren't spouting fire, they're spouting molten earth!
It would have also been more beneficial to him in the original games as it would have matched his stats better

The Entei in the movie wasn't the real Entei. It was a copy somehow made by the unown. That's why it had telepathy and was really strange.
My favorite will always be suicune: blue is my favorite color and it purifies water!

9:36 well the “Sui” part of Suicune’s name could also come from Suijin, the Shinto God of water in Japan

"Sui" doesn't come from Suijin. Sui (水) just means water. It is one pronounciation of that kanji; the other one being mizu. Jin means god. Suijin literally translates to water god. In the same way, Raijin literally translates to thunder god. Rai = thunder, jin = god.

I love suicunne the most personally. No I’m not part of a bandwagon.
I have just always thought it was very elegant in its appearance. It had a stern and proud expression on its face, it has the ribbons that flow like the wind, and the crystal crown. Plus the rain cloud cap on its back.

My favourite is Entei because my 1st real pokemon experience when it came to the franchise was with Pokémon movie 3. And Entei has just always held a special place in my heart.

A note about kanji with regard to how you explained Entei’s name:
It is true that 炎 (flame, ほのお) “honō” is how this kanji is pronounced. By itself. This is the kun-yomi 訓読み or Japanese reading of the kanji.
But when kanji are combined, often times they adopt the on-yomi 音読み or foreign reading, which is usually based on the Chinese “sound” 音 of the kanji, rather than the concept’s ancient Japanese pronunciation. The on-yomi for 炎 is エン “en.”
It is important to note that most of the time when a word contains multiple kanji, they will be entirely read as kun-yomi or on-yomi. Not all kanji have both kinds of readings, and some kanji have multiple versions of their kun-yomi or on-yomi.
Fun facts:
読み yomi or “reading” (noun) comes from 読む yomu which is the dictionary form of “to read.” This is an example of how almost all Japanese verbs can be transformed into a noun by shifting the verb to the -i kana, although sometimes you add 物 as in 飲み物 “nomimono” (things to drink) from 飲む “nomu” (to drink). For so-called “ru verbs” (which are NOT every verb ending in ru), you drop the ru as in 食べ物 “tabemono” (things to eat) from 食べる “taberu” (to eat).
Kun 訓 as in kun-yomi 訓読み as a kanji draws its inspiration from speaking 言 and river 川, and as a single kanji, it means “instruction or teaching” but specifically as part of 訓読み, it means “the Japanese way of reading kanji.” This probably refers to how Japanese adopted kanji from Han Dynasty China, but while adapting their symbols to their very different language. Thus a pre-existing language, Japanese, used symbols from a very different language. Many borrowed words came with this linguistic shift through many centuries, but also many words persisted as a kind of tradition. Like a river flowing through generations of people continuing to speak the same language, the kun-yomi are remnants of Japanese as it was before kanji.
On 音 as in on-yomi means “sound.” Once I was speaking to one of my Chinese friends from China working abroad about learning Japanese. (**Weird, I know but I was talking just about kanji.) I expressed how hard it was trying to remember how to write them and pronounce them. I bring up this story, because what he said is something I always remember. “You just don’t know their sound.” In at least Mandarin, characters (just 字 ji in Chinese) only have one pronunciation, so people speak of the way they are pronounced in terms of sound. That’s probably why on-yomi 音読み are called “sound readings,” even though they mean foreign or Chinese pronunciations.
If you look up kanji in a kanji reference books, kun-yomi will be spelled in hiragana while on-yomi will be spelled in katakana. Thus 炎 would be written with a pronunciation ほのお、エン but 炎帝 or “flame sovereign” is only pronounced en-tei エンテイ, two on-yomi readings, never honō-tei ほのおテイ, a kun-yomi reading followed by an on-yomi reading, and the pokemon’s name (indeed the names of all pokemon, like アルセウス A-ru-se-u-su) is usually spelled in katakana, so pronunciation is not ambiguous.
I'm assuming that Mizu vs Sui is also the native verses foreign reading as well, I was kind of surprised when he just didn't mention the first part of Suicune's name referring to water.
Now it's obviously false that Suicune, Entei & Raikou are dog's when they don't really possess any canine qualities (the only one who is some-what dog-like is Entei) in reality The Legendary Beasts are all based on big cat's: Suicune being a Leopard, Entei being a Lion and finally Raikou being a Smilodon (aka the Saber-Toothed Tiger)

New facts added to my reasoning
I always believed they were cats because, between gen 1 and 2, there's 5birds and 5 cats, having the beasts be dogs just messes that up for the first two gens
@@bastionsea2829 well in gen 1 we had the Legendary Birds where gen 2 introduced their master in Lugia while in that same gen it had the beasts & their master Ho-oh, plus Luigi & Ho-oh also form their own pair being known as the Tower Duo (there's also the obvious fact that Ho-oh is based on the mythical Phoenix...which just so happens to be the same thing that Moltres is based on)
besides in pokemon not every pokemon is based on an animal or an inanimate object as there are many based on either Cryptids (examples being Dunsparce, Lapras & Abomasnow), Mythical beasts (Rapidash, Ho-oh & Moltres, Golurk etc.) or even Yo-Kai (there are many that fit here but here's a few examples: Mawile, Lombre & Golduck, The Forces of Nature, Ninetales, Weavile and many more)

I have the 3-part Raikou special to thank for my love of Typhlosion and it being cemented as my favorite Fire type as of Gen 7. This may or may not change when I can purchase my own Nintendo Switch, Pokémon Sword, and Pokémon Shield(which I hope happens before the release of the Isle of Armor or at least the Crown Tundra). It is a rad Electric-type legendary. It's just weird that it gained access to Scald in Gen 8.
Entei is great, too, and not just because of the Pokémon movie. Just a shame that it still doesn't have access to Earthquake.
Suicune is my favorite of the Johto Roaming Beasts/Trio. I love using it in-game in the past. I also like how it can purify bodies of water.

Hopes that GF would make a movie of these 3 legendary. I mean, in game where u can encounter them early on and more lucky enough to catch them, pretty awesome to have them on a team. Those dex entries, background story, name origin, its just so cool.
Entei was the only legendary Beast to have a speaking voice, it would have been cool to see the rest of them talk.

Great video, to answer the question about Entei having a connection to the Unown in the 3rd Pokemon movie, I believe Entei was an illusion as well created by the Unown and not actually the real Entei.
Unown chose Entei to become the illusion, because Entei represents the Lion. The father, the pride, and the power. Everything a "father" figure would've been during that time. Unown could've chose ANY pokemon to use as a medium to communicate with that little girl, but they chose Entei to replicate that father figure.
Though it was an illusion, it was very real in it's fight.
Hoo-boy, I've been waiting for a video like this! While my heart will always belong to the trio of Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza, the Legendary Beasts and Birds are a close second. As for which one I like the most, that's a bit hard to say, since each one has something of merit in my eyes. But if you had to twist my arm and choose, I think I'll go with Suicune. He looks badass, much like his kin, and was the first Legendary Beast I saw in the Pokemon movies.

My favorite has always been suicune, I played soulsilver and loved how suicune was integrated into the story, and I also played Pokémon ranger guardian signs and loved riding on suicunes back

I figured because Pikachu's evolution "Raichu" also has that "Rai" in it, that I just learned means Thunder in Japanese.

Raikou has always been my favourite out of the trio his design just looks so slick compared to the other 2, has the head of a walrus and the body of a tiger looks awesoem
It's not the head of a walrus. Raikou itself is based off a sabertooth which is a actual animal that existed

I remember the first one I found was entei on my gold version. Exploring ruins of alph didnt know what it was and ran away from it. Started talking to my cousin who was also playing his version at the time and he couldn't believe that I didnt know what it was. Oh the fun times when I was a kid.

As a kid, I've always liked Suicune more, but Entei has grown more to me as an adult.
It would be so cool if there were fusions between the legendary birds and the legendary beasts! I would imagine that the designs would be based on a spinx and/or a griffin. That would be AWESOME!
Ever since you made a video like this on the Legendary Birds, I’ve been waiting for this video. Specifically for Suicune, because although Raikou is my favourite of the 3, Suicune seems to be more important than the other 2. I mean, it got its own game while Raikou and Entei didn’t, Eusine seems more focused on Suicune than the other 2, and you need both Raikou and Entei to catch it in US/UM, which has never been a thing before. Suicune has always seemed more significant than the other 2, and I’ve always wanted to know why (assuming that I wasn’t just looking too much into things)
Probably by the nature of this Pokemon.
He is characterized as calmer than the other two, deals with the purification of water and the care of lakes, and also by the symbolism of rain, which ended the destruction of fire caused by lightning.
That's why many people consider him the most important, the one who leads and controls the trio.

Raikou is one of my favourite pokemon of all time. I caught one just after Morty’s gym in HeartGold, and it destroyed everything. Then when I started playing competitively and it would always be one of my best mons.
Youkai: Vulpix and Ninetails are also clearly youkai as is Espeon and it's split tail

Raikou represents the Thunder that hits the tower, Entei represents the Fire that burned the tower, and Suicune represents the Rain that dowse the fire.

In Pokemon crystal after the player obtains clear bell in golden rod, on going to ecrutek city the sages use an eevelution in their battle before allowing the player to battle suicune. What do you make up for that?

Suicune was the first of the 3 i met in the Wild in pokemon Silver, Therefore it has a special place in my heart and its blue.

adding on to your comment on the way "entei" was translated from Japanese, the character 炎 is "en", due to the way Japanese works, certain characters will have different pronounciations in different combinations. In this case, because it was paired up with 皇, it became "en"(ex: "ka-en", ka comes from another way to say fire(火) and flames(炎-en))
My question about the 3 would be, is 1 more powerful then the other or are they on equal footing? For the most part you got the 3 fire, water and thunder, but i wondered if Entei was also a earth type while a fire type since it would make sense.

I remember when I was a kid i found entai once but could never catch him. I found raiku a couple times but could never catch him either. I did however catch suicine and was so stoked about it. I really wasnt the best crystal player. Even though it was newer I still played red version a lot more. I had no idea untill recently you could catch Ho-oh and lugia in crystal. I just got back into these games again after 15+ years. Going to give crystal a better shot this time and be sure to catch all of the legendaries this time.

When I was younger & only watched bits & pieces of the anime I thought Raikou evolved into entei, due to Raikou cameoing in the entei movie.
They are the three OG eeveelutions its not a coincidence that the sages and the leader use those pokemon in HG/SS when the sages test you to see if you are worthy to catch ho-oh. The kimono girls use eeveelutions as well
Suicune was always my favorite Crystal is my favorite gen 2 game and I hated hunting down the other two. Suicune was the only scripted encounter and I love strong Water types.
The dogs in the tower were normal dogs I know this because in the tower where it shows the dogs burning all of them have tails and only raikou has a tail
