I like experimenting because it helps me understand math and not just memorize it. Tell me why I can't I break down -16x the same way as the first example. Afterall, x=10 and x=6 do not add up to the right sum. I can clearly see it doesn't work but I don't understand why. Maybe I'm missing something.

​@vijf3380 You have to include the 4(a) into the factor. So, it should look like: 4x-10 and 4x-6. So basically factoring will always be ax+ two factors of (a) times (c) that are also the addends of b. So we can write it as ax+factor1=0 and ax+factor2=0.
