37-Shot Montigny Mitrailleuse Model 1851/65 Volley Gun

One lesser-known step in the journey toward today's modern machine guns is that of Joseph Montigny and his Montigny Mitrailleuse. These multibarrel creations arms sought to up battlefield firepower, but militaries were uncertain of how to best implement them.
Multiple variations, sizes, and firing mechanisms exist, making these unusual guns endlessly fascinating for those who study firearms engineering or the evolution in repeating arms.

in Spanish French and Italian and Portuguese the word for machinegun are very similar. So in French Mitrailleuse (mi tra u sah) is machinegun.

You would be correct. The Gatling had a defined role to fill, the Mitrailleuse's was not as clear. Though the later sequentially-firing versions I can see being comparable to a Gatling in an anti-personnel role.
