People failed realize how much of a beast he could've been. Complete raw talent that couldn't manifest
Honestly it sounds like his dad knew best when having him at receiver.

Some athletes had all the physical tools, but lacked motivation & dedication... Which provides enough evidence that hard work beats "natural" talent or inexperience.
True. If you're not motivated with all the talent in the world you won't get far, but guys with some talent that put in that work we always remember.

as a jags fan, i have to think about that a lot about a lot of former jags players, FML lol.

He was drafted 2 years before Megatron so idk how he’d be considered “the next Megatron.”
As a ravens fan I thought Darren Waller could have been the next megatron when we drafted him. Happy hes found such success as a TE
As a Raven fan I agree. It definitely sucks that it took him that long. Also we drafted Perriman that same year and if we could have had them both develop decently, that would've been a scary bunch!!

I'm from Arkansas, Lifelong Razorbacks Fan and this guy was our Quarterback, a damn decent 1 too, I have fond memories of Matt Jones, Darren McFadden and Felix Jones, those were Great Years!
When you look at Calvin Johnson’s size is unreal how athletic he was!!! The guy was 6’5” with 36” arms and a 41” vert!!!! His catch radius was gigantic!!!!!
His career was just avg at best unfortunately where you land is a big thing had wr in nfl. If he landed with Manning , brees , Brady etc.. he might be considered better then Owens or moss or rice
@@theoneaboveall6768 Calvin Johnson’s career was not average at all lmfao. What u smoking
Neil Moturi avg at best to me. Empty calories stats that amount to nothing. We all have sre opinions. I like Calvin but such is life when you think of all time greats wr he is not mention close to being those greats with or without an Sb. So to me it’s avg. unfortunately like I said when you got dumb qb throwing the ball it doesn’t help.
@@theoneaboveall6768 so a wide receiver is supposed to take a team to the super bowl? are you dumb?
Luke Sudul I never said that, on the contraries I said otherwise. if that makes you feel smart yes I’m dumb now that it’s out the way like I said some might think it’s great but I think it’s avg
Game was so long a freshman was a sophomore by the time the game ended! That’s hilarious 😂

That pic of him scoring a TD against Texas and while he’s crossing the goal line he does “horns down” is cold
I wanted him to work out. And I still wear his jersey from time to time. One interesting fact about this tho is, he tried to buy the cocaine with a credit card.
It's interesting that people consider many NFL players "not committed" when they smoke weed when there are absolute stars that will tell you after their career they smoked weed before every game. It's the luck of the draw.
Its motivation to do MORE than just smoking weed and partying. Some dudes just have all the tools but don't really enjoy the game.
@Mo Williams Impossible. Do some research work on coaches & transfer.
@Mo Williams yea for every "coach that meant so much to me".....3-4 of their other coaches were just abusive assholes...
@@poeticalvision you can smoke weed and not party lmao

@ 7:22 that's cold. Dude just abused a Texas defender and scored while giving the hook'em horn sign.
I was at that game ... sitting practically at the 50 yard line among rich old Texas fans ... wearing a hog hat. (Yes I took a bit of abuse). Matt Jones was Superman that day.

Matt Jones and the Jaguars on Madden were the truth🔥🔥🔥
Yessir that 2007 team was 🔥🔥🔥! Fred Taylor and MJD in the backfield, offense was crazy. Defense was stacked too with Mike Peterson at LB and the twin towers DTs Marcus Stroud, and John Henderson. Was my favorite team to pick.
Yes indeed. I used to play with Jags when they had him.
That team was ridiculous you can run non stop or just throw the deep ball to Matt Jones I use to make ppl want to fight because they thought Matt Jones was a created player 😂😂😂
Lol the only reason I knew the wigga 😂
@@blackbamaboi I'm not a jags fan but I remember that team. Their defense was tight too remember they're too big defensive tackles they had John Henderson and Marcus Stroud and they had Rashen Mathis at cornerback.
I grew up near the U of A, I remember the longest game with seven overtime’s! I watched it with a good friend, and I still miss the Matt Jones days. Awesome video!
One thing you have to consider for DK Metcalf is his commitment to improving his game, it’s paid off dividends. Super raw physical freak that needed to improve pretty much everything skill wise at his position and he’s done it. That effort on the chase down shows his character.
I agree wholeheartedly
that chasedown showed absolutely nothing other then he knew he could catch the guy and the guy absolutely has not upgraded his route running at all
This comment aged like milk. DK is so overrated.
@@MoreBuffMoreMuffsex with women is overrated. Why don't you and I have a lil fun
Matt Jones was a baller! I think the NFL just didn’t know how to use a guy like that in the early 2000’s
He wanted to be a QB but the NFL didn't think he was talented enough to be a signalcaller.
As an Arkansas fan he was the man. One of the best athletes I have seen

Arkansas Razorback fan here. Matt Jones was my childhood. Will always be a legend to me. Could’ve had a really solid NFL career, like you said. He’s actually still doing sports radio here locally!
I was just thinking about this dude the other day. To this day I've never seen anything like him. Guy was massive, 6'6" and he would turn the corner and blow away DBs at 5'8" who had an angle on him. It was surreal to watch, like a video game.
The Dude has a Killer 'Stache, so he's okay in my book!

Thank you for posting this! It was so cool watching him in college at Arkansas.
I clicked on this for 2 reasons...
1. Because I knew Matt Jones was never supposed to be the original Megatron.
2. FlemLo kills these “ what happened to “videos!
Thanks Man.
Saw him play in person against Texas, dude looked like he was from another planet, I honestly thought he was gonna be a star in the League.
I remember watching him in the SEC. He had that freakish athletic ability at the QB position and of course this was during the time in which athletic QBs at the collegiate level were gonna be highly scrutinized by the pro coaches and analysts (and they still are). I just knew he was gonna be a huge impact player at the next level. He had great natural ability but in my opinion never seemed to have the hunger to push himself and of course those bad habits die hard. Nonetheless, he was a very difficult matchup at wideout in the NFL in that most of the corners were/are short and fast. Could really high point the rock on those 50/50 balls. Definitely a promising career cut short. I do hope he's doing well now. As always nice video brother.
Love the vids bro keep it up!
Just a theory, the dude already had a substance abuse issue before the NFL. Once he got NFL money his substance abuse got worse, but he got better at hiding it.
More than likely places also so cocaine I'm sure is plentiful in Jacksonville
I'm happy to hear this story. I was a true fan of his on the field. But someone needed to bring his personal story out.
The man's hairline receded faster than the lines of coke .

@FlemoRaps There is a few things you mentioned in the video. Steve Jones was my junior high football and track coach, in Van Buren, AR.
This dude, Matt Jones, was so gifted it was unreal. He could play football, track, and basketball like no other. In track, the guy was running 22.~~ in the 200, and man dunking/posterizing normal sized guys. He was an idol in that town.
