      We assume that you have the later SS with the cat in the pipes? If earlier, you shouldn’t have any issues where the cat is in the headers

    Hello! I'm riding a Japanese scrambler! I purchased this exhaust and had it installed! thank you! My question is, if I install it as is, an afterfire will occur, is this normal? There is also a slight exhaust leak from the installed part. Do I need a gasket?

    • @britishcustoms
      @britishcustoms  Рік тому

      Backfiring would typically indicate lean conditions and these bikes stock off the floor are quite lean - we suggest to get the ECU remapped. In terms of the leak, no gaskets are required but can you send us a video of this to support@british-customs.com. We expand the exhaust mounting portion to a specific gauge then use a check-gauge to ensure correct specs before sending out so we're wondering what happened there!

    I those are the best looking aftermarket Scrambler pipes. Are the slash tips stainless or chrome? I vow not to add chrome to the bike.
    Also, there was no need to take of the side cover that I could tell. I've had my stock cans off a couple of times, there is no need to remove the side cover to do this easy job.

    • @britishcustoms
      @britishcustoms  2 роки тому +5

      100% stainless steel, welded and brushed here in house. Zero chrome (especially since California chrome isn't the best)
      We added in that side cover note there just in case as a disclaimer just in case someone scratches up their side cover.

      @@britishcustoms Yeah, I get. They are plastic but not "cheap" plastic. LoL Thanks for quick reply.
      I already have the BC De-Cat header. Nice piece. I really like the 2 separate pipes all the way through design, no H, X, or Y pipe. Even the stock cans sound good when you ditch the Cat. On a twin, separate pipes give the best idle thump too. Quality look and fit also.

      The classic 1 piece per cylinder is the way to go, especially on the liquid cooled 270 cranks. We're about to release our "Competition Headers" which is exactly what we're talking about starting in a week, trickling out for each liquid cooled models so stay tuned !

      I haven't researched it yet, but I've heard that connecting the two like the H or an X gives better performance. Is that just marketing? What's the theory behind it?

    • @britishcustoms
      @britishcustoms  Рік тому +1

      @@midi510 Sorry missed this one but long story short the crossover on a 4 stroke twin enhances the waves, generating more waves (effectively increasing the size) and crossing over from one section to the other (scavenging) to allow the engine to run more efficiently throughout a spreadout/broad RPM range. On top of this comes tuning to smoothen out the powerband to throttle, making everything 1:1.
      There are typically 2 cases where you'll see people remove the crossover:
      1. For aesthetics, ease of maintenance, or even sound, typically involves modifying an exhaust to block off which is a big no no for us as it makes a good running bike into a decent or poor running bike. For those that say "my bike runs really well" at this point, we ask if they've ridden a properly tuned bike before ?
      2. Racing or even for those that want a strong "primary wave" & max-usage of HP within a very certain & narrow range in the powerband, perfect for drag racing

      Not too bad as we've been rolling that way for a few years but as we've been getting asked this, we recently developed a set of heatshields for our Shotgun Exhausts for passengers. Check it out on our page.
